Why are you assuming he was the one who bought it? What you are talking about are very concrete issues - using a tool to farm, and the need to fix it. And what livelihood? Goku and his family don't need the money. They are able live isolated from civilization because they can hunt and fish for themselves.
Goku ran and swam and walked around the world, literally, before the 22nd TB. He understands the concrete concept of distance.
Distance isn't the same as money, not even remotely. $1M sounds like a lot, but not if its purchasing power is low.
Goku is a radish farmer. He’s not just eating radishes. He has to literally do business as part of his job. His family has modern clothing and supplies that has to come from somewhere since the Ox Kings money ran out.
Goku has demonstrated that he is aware of the value of money and what it does. Again Goku is not an idiot. He is very clearly able to grasp the concept of money and it’s value something 5 year olds can grasp. I’ll repeat this again.
Goku is not an idiot.
I'll repeat, not understanding money doesn't make you an idiot and he didn't need the income. Chichi pushed that on him. If he didn't make money he'd go back to living like he did when we first meet him. Goku doesn't need a job nor modern clothing.
The concept of money is more than basic math. You know why 5 year olds grasp money? because they are around it all the time. They see money and prices. You need to know what the relative price level is to understand the value of money, otherwise it's just a number.
Goku not understanding money is an entirely fake fan argument. Goku and Goten both yell out in surprise when they found out about the 100 million zenny. Go check the episode. The argument that he doesn’t understand the value of money doesn’t even make sense in the context of Super when he knows enough to by shocked and surprised by the amount. Again this is episode 1.
Ignoring that, the dub makes it even worse because Goku asks if 100 million is MORE than 100,000. Like total idiot level.
Episode 9 is just as bad, Goku appears to be counting to 5 multiple times with his fingers and the dub implies multiple times that Goku has trouble adding and counting to 5.
It even goes so far as that Vegeta blames Goku for not having 6 Saiyans and Goku says “Sorry, math was never really my strong point” further implying he can’t count or add to 6.
There’s no excuse for that, total idiot portrayal.

Goku knows some math, but he is for the most part dumb to it past more than a few digits.
Remember back in the Red Ribbon Army arc, he spoils one of Murasaki's hiding places because he can't past 18.
Goku has also shown he doesn't understand the value of money. When he defeats the street boxer so he can get money to pay for the cab, he has no idea how much that money means and just gives it all to the cab driver.
He is an idiot!
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

I wouldn't call that an idiot, more like uneducated. Is a person an idiot if he was never taught something?

True, i mean Goku did spent most of the early part of his life living in near total isolation on Mt. Paozu with only his adoptive grandfather and then alone after unknowingly killing him as an Oozaru. He literally didn't meet anyone else until that fateful day when Bulma was on vacation and searching for the Dragon Balls. Apparently Gohan had mostly instructed him in basic martial arts but not so much school based things i.e mathematics and the like, so he's uneducated from an education sense but not so much idiot per se.
DB collection related goals as of now:
1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)
2.) Collect rest of manga
3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

He was taught some basic math by roshi before he fought the red ribbon army. Giving away a bunch of money was definitely a case of being uneducated. But I think you could also say Dbs Goku is just uneducated. And if you do most of his “idiot” moments go away.

I'm pretty bored with the immature depiction of Gokuu in recent media. Bring me unexpectedly mature Gokuu!

It's been a while since I've seen GT but wasn't there that bit where it looks like Trunks has disabled Baby's life support and Goku starts whining over not getting the chance to fight him and starts crawling all over his tube?
It's a mild scene, but one that still sticks out to me as being annoying.
Why does that annoy you?
Same reason him begging Zamasu for a fight in the Super anime annoyed me. It makes him look whiny.
I love irresponsible fight-happy Goku, but the best depictions of it are a bit more subtle with a darker side. Like the way he acted during the Cell and Buu arcs where he was practically manipulating his friends to get what he wanted. Or the first episode of the anime Tournament of Power when he pulled that trick on Beerus with the Zeno button. There's no class in being all "waah I wanna fight the prodigious god/evil parasite".

I prefer the super excited big kid. That's who Goku is. He's not a manipulative dick.
I don't see where you got "Wah" from that scene.

Kids can be manipulative little bastards sometimes. Goku crosses the line more often than people realise.
It was pretty 'wah'. I only brought it up because it's something people never seem to talk about. A lot of GT spruikers like to characterise GT Goku as being really mature in contrast to Super Goku, but I'd say they're about the same.

Again, it works for GT because Goku was turned back into a child. Super Goku doesn't have that excuse.
I prefer "manipulative dick" Goku over "excited big kid" Goku. Goku is a trickster at heart, so it makes sense that his desire for battle would manifest itself differently as he matured and aged. I think that the darkness is more interesting than the juvenile antics.

No they aren't. All they do is cry until they do or don't get their way.
I still don't see how that was him being whiny.

GT Goku didn't force Trunks to release Bebi at all.
Super Goku forced C17 to allow the 3 amateur girls to transform.
GT Goku didn't let his guard down in a battle.
Super Goku leaves his guard down many time, so down that he can't react.
GT Goku knows what to wish for.
Super Goku doesn't know what to wish for.
GT Goku did his best to prevent Syn Shenron from turning into Omega Shenron, by getting the 4 Star Dragon Ball and even swallowed it.

GT Goku literally got turned into carbonite vs Rildo because he let his guard down and couldn't react, and against that kid in the tournament too. Vs San Sheron he lost his eyesight for being overconfident, a big plot ploint in the final arc.

It was mentioned later on that he suspected that Trunks got caught on purpose and later Goku got caught on purpose by Rildo. I have to rewatch that episode later at home.
I assume Goku was stalling here.
Vegeta big entrance distracted Goku, although there was no danger here.
Goku didn't know San Shenron ability, however that isn't due to Goku letting his guard down. It is no different than Goku losing his body against Ginyu.

IIRC, only Giru and Trunks knew about the plan, but I could be wrong.
Goku still got rung out by a child because his guard wasn't up and "couldn't react".
It's not about San's ability, it's about Goku being already aware that San was a low-life creep, willing to do anything to win, yet he let his guard down thinking the fight was over, requested for the DB, and got blinded in return.
If the excuse is "he didn't know about that ability", then he also didn't know about Sorbet existing and hiding in the back with a back up plan.

Goku in GT only acted childish during the first arc (which is notoriously bad). He's mature like in Z throughout the rest of GT.
Goku in DBS is a complete idiot.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I'm just about done with the concept of reboots and making shows that were products of their time and impactful "new and sexy" and in line with modern tastes and sensibilities. Let stuff stay in their era and give today's kids their own shit to watch.
I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about
your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.
