If you like it, that's fine, but he's got the most unnatural and over the top performance of any of the English narrator VAs, which was obviously FUNi's intention with his casting and how his narration is written.

Hoo boy that's so awful, definitely my second worst of his narration so after "Oh yeah i almost forgot...KRILLIN'S IN DA HOOOOOOUSE!!!!!" and watching this clip reminded me that the script writing in the old dub was copious amounts of awful jokes and cringe one liners in nearly every scene.
DB collection related goals as of now:

1.) Find decent priced copy of Dragon Box Z Vol. 4 (Done)

2.) Collect rest of manga

3.) Get rest of Daizenshuu (2-7)

I think it sounds fairly natural. He's got a little enthusiasm going, but not what I would call "over the top". A lot of it just depends upon the writing. The dialogue has a big influence on how Kelly performs.

How are we defining natural? Because that sure as hell isn’t how an actual person would talk in normal conversation. Even if they’re being enthusiastic.

Yeah no, his deliveries of the narration didn't sound natural. It sounded like a hammy WWF/monster truck announcer impression that went hand in hand with the try hard edgy vibe that the Z dub gave. Everything about his narration fits that to a T.

Jim Conrad, the narrator for the Ocean/BLT dub of the first 13 Dragon Ball episodes is also really good.

I think Dragon Ball fared the best with narrators in general. The worst was the Blue Water guy. He wasn’t bad he just sounded like a generic tv commercial bumper voice.

I just put in my VHS of the Cell Games - Ultimatum single, because this thread compelled me to. It's been forever since I've watched the tape, but sure enough, there was Dale Kelly's voice in the recap.. It was so weird to hear his voice at such a late point in the series. I guess I always associate him with the Ginyu/Frieza sagas, and always just sort of assumed he was gone by the time the Androids arrived. It was cool to be reminded of how it actually went
