So this new movie will be Gohan focused?
https://youtu.be/ke_W-uPla1Y
Judging from the trailer it appears that Piccolo will permanently die in this movie and get a send off with Gohan paying homage to him via wearing his cape in the final battle. The scope of the movie would be less world/universal threat and more of a battle between two organizations on earth. Goku, Vegeta and Broly will have an extremely small cameo appearance and most likely will be in the film for less than 5 minutes. This is what i gathered from watching the trailer.

I hope not, even GT, which didn't use the og cast and shamelessly bought them back for cameos and emotional punches it didn't earn, at least had a reason to kill Piccolo, to keep the black star DB's away.
It annoys me that androids on earth can beat post Moro Piccolo if that's what happens.
There's no reason for him not to be bought back and it'd contradict DBO where Piccolo is actually the last main timeline guy left standing.

More to the point, Piccolo is very much alive by the time of the 28th Budokai, which is set after the movie.

Did we even watch the same trailer? I can't even fathom where you'd get the idea that Piccolo permanently dies.Seekeroftruth wrote: Sat Dec 18, 2021 6:14 amJudging from the trailer it appears that Piccolo will permanently die in this movie
Jumping to conclusions about Gohan's involvement in the film at this stage is probably setting oneself up for disappointment. Trailers are notoriously misleading, for all we know he only jumps in at the last minute in the final act to help out. After the disappointment of his post-Buu self, I expect literally nothing from Gohan but irregular one-off moments of badassery--he's well-established at this point as being disinterested in fighting in favor of focusing on his academics and family. After 25+ years I highly doubt any deviation from this can be expected. Goku and Vegeta are the Pikachus of Dragon Ball and everyone else is canon fodder for them to be the final bosses. If anything, I feel like Piccolo might be the main fighter for a while or at least one of them, I believe it's even been hinted as much insofar as them teasing him having a bigger role.
However, if Gohan ultimately wins the day that would be a welcome surprise but I wouldn't hold my breath because that hasn't even happened since Cell, let alone in a feature-length film. If I've learned anything, it's that any character other than Goku or Vegeta who has a glow-up is a red-herring for Goku and Vegeta to sweep in at the last second.
I was Thanos before the MCU existed!

I think Gohan will take center stage, though not necessarily be the one to deliver the death blow. Folks there are more important issues than who gets the final blow. Movie 13 may have given Goku the kill but Trunks was very much front and center in that film.
I don't see Piccolo being killed, but injury isn't out of the question.

I hope Gohan gets redeemed and sheds his "Nobi-han" rep. (People in Hong Kong have been calling him 野比飯 as a way to compare Gohan to Nobi from Doraemon cuz Nobi is so useless)

Did they sleep on the ToP? Gohan more than "redeemed" himself.

What I want to happen: Gohan gets to shine as an adult
What I don't want to happen: Goku basically gets palette-swapped for Gohan for no functional reason

Re: So this new movie will be Gohan focused?
So what I'm predicting will happen is that either Piccolo or Pan (or both) will be kidnapped by the Red Ribbon Army. Judging by the trailers, they've created new Androids that view themselves as super heroes and have been led to believe that the main cast are villains. We know that Pan is being trained by Piccolo and there's a moment in the trailer were Gamma 2 faces off with Piccolo. I'm predicting that Piccolo loses the fight and gets dragged back to the new Red Ribbon base or Piccolo gets beat up badly and Gamma 2 kidnaps Pan to lure in the main cast to their base. Then we see Gohan arrive in his Piccolo outfit all pissed off because they have his daughter.
I don't think Goku and Vegeta will get involved with what's happening on back on Earth because:
a) They're way too invested in their training with Broly and probably don't think anything significant is happening back at home.
b) Gohan refuses to have his father help him. He'll probably think that if he can't save his own daughter with his own strength, then what kind of father is he?
Also, this movie is all about the "super hero" theme, so it makes the most sense for Gohan to play the protagonist role since he's an actual super hero through Great Saiyaman. I'm hoping that there's some kind of disagreement between Pan and Gohan throughout the film that ends up getting resolved in the end. We saw a design of Pan in her school clothes earlier on and we know that she likes to fight. Maybe she hates going to school and would prefer to train, which frustrates Gohan at first because he wants his daughter to live a normal human life. There's a lot of potential for the story in this film.

Why would Piccolo permanently die, when the movie takes place in Age 782?

Gohan at best wud have glorified 3-5 min fight sequence. Cuz ya know...whenever it involves Androids Gohan is golden man.
Like even in future timeline, he made a mark. Then with Cell. Now, ofc dude wud have a memorable moment with Gamma/Sigma whatever crap
Though RRA target has always been Goku.
And u got Goku Veggie, Broly. Any one of em cud solo those Androids. Its a different story if they're "absorbed" by someone or ya know...that might pose as a challenge to the Full blooded Saiyans.
And Piccolo

Gohan, honestly fared better than most characters in Super actually having something resembling a character arc. But he didn’t ascend to Mystical Ultimate Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Mega Ultra Saiyan and win the ToP by flicking Jiren away with his pinky, so his stans still won’t be satisfied.
