Muten Roshi And Jinzo'ningen #18 Die Of Old Age?!
I once read that Roshi himself drank from the fountain of youth or immortality once. Doesn't that mean he should be immortal? Meaning that old age won't kill him. But at the end of GT, he is said to have died of old age, just like everyone else. That's impossible, unless he is killed. And what about Jinzō'ningen #18?! She's a....Jinzō'ningen! She doesn't age! But why did she die? Was she killed? Or is this just another GT plot hole?

When Goku and Chi Chi go to get the Bansho Fan from Kame-sennin, Sea Turtle mentions that Kame-sennin has drank the "Medicine of Immortality". Later in the series, when Kame-sennin is about to confront Piccolo Daimao, he tell Tenshinhan not to worry about him, since he has drank the "Water of Immortality" and can't die. But after he drugs Tenshinhan, he says "The Water of Immortality doesn't exist. It's a lie." So it's not really certain why he lived that long.
For No.18, do we have any way of knowing she doesn't age, other than her looking the same in Trunks' future as she does in the present? She is after all human based, so I don't see any reason why she couldn't age and/or eventually die of old age.

No, he says it doesn't exist (or literally "the water of immortality and the like don't exist"). Viz might have changed the wording a little, but the Japanese is pretty clear. Or at least the "the water of immortality doesn't exist part" is clear; it's a little ambigious just what he means by "it's a lie", though.Thanos6 wrote:I thought Kame just said that he was lying about the water being able to keep him from dying at all.

She was never killed during the course of GT, at least not in anything that's shown. It's just implied that she died in some way during the 100-year gap between Goku's departure with Shenlong and his appearence at the Tenkaichi Budoukai.ultimateemail5000 wrote:Did Android 18 really die in GT? That would be really lousy. I saw the saga where I thought she was killed, but I just assummed she was wished back with the Dragonballs or something. If she did die, I guess that would explain why Krillin was at Master Roshi's on the last episode.

Not that I can remember. I know they don't say anything like that in the "Trunks: the Story" manga chapter.StarrDust wrote:But didn't 17 and 18 mention in the Trunks special that their bodies don't age or something like that?

"And I'm afraid I lied about the elixir of immortality."

It was a phoenix; the Japanese word for phoenix, fushichou, literally means "immortal bird". Their exact traits vary between different stories, but phoenixs are usually immortal, though they have to periodically be reborn from their own ashes. The Time Traveller wrote:Wasn't it a Phoenix? And aren't Phoenixes Immortal?Jackal puFF wrote:didnt the bird of immortality die?

Saiyans simply have a longer period of youth (as per Vegeta in the second-to-last chapter). It's never said that their overall lifespan is longer than humans.StarrDust wrote:I always thought it was weird that Pan lived into her 100s and is only a quarter Saiya-jin. Shouldn't the half saiya-jins still be alive since it seems that full blooded Saiya-jins age slowly/have long lives? Or were they all killed?

That was because of his power cell, wasn't it?omegacwa wrote:My assumption is that since #18 is a cyborg, part robot, part living tissue, the human tissue part of her would eventually degrade and she would die. Kinda like the terminator who would die after 150 years or whatever.
And it was established that #17 and #18 had eternal energy.
