I will never understand peoples obsession with Goten and Trunks growing. But on this topic I feel like they did this so fans would get distracted and ask questions regarding the plot.

Grown up Goten and Trunks means that they have potential to be developed and be utilized in serious fights. This is why plenty of fans were glad about this.

I know about that and the Fat Gotenks in this upcoming movie from the merch. The point here is that they have potential to be utilized better than before in future projects because Toriyama\Toei could always change their minds. Its just like how none of us expected Gohan and Piccolo to be the lead of this new movie. Plans change all the time. I'm not saying they will fight the main villain. I'm saying they won't be used in gags forever.

Most fans are happy about Goten and Trunks' reveal because many of us were worried TOEI would keep making them look like 10 year olds. Thankfully, they didn't.

Don't underestimate fat Gotanks. Veku was definitely powerful. Janamba was laying into him and he was holding up much better than Goku and Vegeta. Even a poor fusion must increase your durability. Maybe you obtain all those Mr. Satan comic relief stats.

Teenage Gotenks also means that we are finally past or close to getting past this neverending rift between Buu and EoZ with like 10 stories crammed in there. With the possibility of new stories without an already known outcome, not that it changes much to know the outcome but still.

Yeah, Veku, while being a gag character, survived long enough and even in a better shape than Goku and Vegeta, making Janemba struggle like never before. Fatenks probably will provide a fun and harmless fight.

I mean that was both a gag and non canon.
I assume fat gotenks will happen to explain why gotenks can't help (in time) to allow Gohan and Piccolo to remain the only strong guys on earth. With Buu asleep again.

I like how Goten and Trunks still don't look quite the same as they'll look in the tournament. They seem a bit smaller to me, even if I'm only saying this based on a poster. That's a nice attention to detail, based on the fact that this movie is not really that close to the tournament, we are two years away from it, after all.

I thought she was 4 in the movie, 5 in eoz and 10 in GT. Does she have the same age issue as Bra?

I think the argument that Goten and Trunks being seen to be slackers by their parents at EoZ is moot when this looks to be a Gohan centric film yet he wouldn't compete in the Tenkaichi a year later especially if he gets a power up in this film/wants to be a superhero for Pan.

I don't think that we will only get fat Gotenks in this film. Maybe we could be hopeful that them doing the pose wrong is a sign that they aren't as in sync anymore and will instead fight more as their own warriors and get development. Obviously am still hoping for a grown up Gotenks design and don't think the figure only showing his failed fusion means that his succesful fusion won't be shown.

This has been a long time coming though, I remember the speculation the forum had when the preview for the Arale episode appeared, and people were saying OMG!! his arms look longer he's grown up!!!!!! How close everyone was only being 5 years away haha

You heard people saying Cell returning would make sense because it's easier to do the spots on his body in CGI. It's not a leak, it's just a silly reasoning for a random idea.

We had a scan of DBHeroes promoting the movie characters (Cell not included), and in an ingame screenshot Goku was back to back with Cell, but next to it, Goku's on the Cell games arena (which was destroyed in DBZ), so probably has no meaning.

That's just someone's theory, nothing else. They drew Cell on Dragon Ball Z, they can draw him for a new movie. It's just a pain in the ass to keep him on model.

Pan is four when the tournament occurs, yes, but she is going to turn five later that same year. AGE 779 + 5 = AGE 784. The tournament takes place before her birthday.

No. Pan always had one birth year (AGE 779). The "issue" is that the manga says she is four, which would place her birth year in "AGE 780" instead. Thankfully, Dragon Ball Super confirms Pan is one year older than Bra, and by doing that, it also confirms that the former year is indeed her birth year.
