Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I hope it's a series disconnected from the main story. Could be fun but please let it be it's own thing.

Nah, as long as Nozawa is around she's not going to be replaced. No doubt Toriyama would object to Goku being recast too as he has said before he can't separate the voice from the character.Yuji wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 4:07 am Did we hear Nozawa at all? Because if not then two trailers so far without voice acting may indicate they're replacing the VAs.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I think in anime they voice first, animate later, we even have Super Broly as a case of how this affected the plot, since Broly wasn't meant to go green or the original script so no one comments on this new form.MasenkoHA wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:44 am ....or it indicates they haven't begun recording for the show yet
So Daima is likely mostly voiced but they're finishing off episodes.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
There are exceptions like Akira, but general they animate first and then record the voices in anime.Lukmendes wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:09 amI think in anime they voice first, animate later, we even have Super Broly as a case of how this affected the plot, since Broly wasn't meant to go green or the original script so no one comments on this new form.MasenkoHA wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:44 am ....or it indicates they haven't begun recording for the show yet

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
They animate first, then record to what is usually a roughly finished version of the animation. This makes it easier for the staff to use fewer drawings for the animation and control how they are used, so that it's the actors who have to sculpt their recordings to the animation, rather than the animators. The lack of time and manpower led to this process, which is different from the western process of recording the voice acting first and animating to their performances.Lukmendes wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:09 amI think in anime they voice first, animate later, we even have Super Broly as a case of how this affected the plot, since Broly wasn't meant to go green or the original script so no one comments on this new form.MasenkoHA wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 8:44 am ....or it indicates they haven't begun recording for the show yet

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I'm not feeling that the place Goku in the trailer is the Makai, I mean, the trailer shows Goku and Kaioshin's ship leaving Earth, Makai is not a planet so you can't get there via a spacecraft, I think? I don't know, maybe the Planet they are going to leads to a portal.
Also if the music here is actually several tracks edited together to fit what's on-screen then they really improved, it sounds like a unique cue when compared to the trailers from Battle of Gods or Broly.

I simply wouldn't want to imagine my life without Dragon Ball, thank you Akira Toriyama (1955-2024), you are now immortal ~☆

I was neutral to Daima after the first trailer but I'm interested after this latest one. That's some damn good choreography, and I like the coloring and overall atmosphere.

Same, I went from "eh we'll see" to "wow the animation is REALLY good and it looks like Chibi Goku is getting some of that personality back that he lost when he went KenshiroDr. Casey wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 2:05 pm I was neutral to Daima after the first trailer but I'm interested after this latest one. I'm way more optimistic of Daima, especially if it goes for a 21st Tenkaichi Budokai/Search for the 4th star ball feel

The only thing I didnt like is that the first part of the trailer was filled with babies. Even Muppets Babies didnt go that far.

Why is Fat Buu shown as a kid if he does not age?

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
He doesn't have children in Xenoverse 2? they are all small, I honestly have no idea, frankly the coherence in this idea of making the characters turn back into children is completely fucked up, some characters actually look younger (Goku, Kuririn), others just look like miniature versions (Chichi), others lose their facial hair (Gyumao, Satan), others who should have hair, remain bald (Roshi, although to be fair, as far as I know it's never been explained whether he's bald because he's always been or because he's old), and others who were always adults became children anyway (Boo, Kaioshin and Kibito)
I honestly don't even care about that anymore lol.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
I am excited to watch Dragon Ball Daima, the animation and fights looks interesting. Right now Goku is acting like how Goku would act.
Although I am not a fan that Goten and Trunks has been turned into babies and are acting like babies. It looks like they have lost all their skills, knowledge, experience and maturity. It looks like they did it, just so Goten and Trunks can't do anything.
The other character hasn't lost anything, plus they only turned into kids and not into babies.

There's speculation that when he sees everyone around him becoming kids, he turns himself into one to fit in.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Goku is not shown as a Super Saiyan. So it's likely his power has been strip down which adds some risk to the story unlike GT. In GT, Goku's power didn't age when he was turn back into a 11 year old.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima (2024)
Well, this definitely looks like the Muppet Babies version of Dragon Ball. I’m not making any judgements either way, except that I still say I prefer this over adapting Moro and Granolah.
