Like, isn't Roshi meant to be like, kinda wise and smart? Wouldn't he have realized that if he'd lost, then he'd have managed to buy a LOT more time for Gohan?
And also probably not get turned to ash for humiliating 17?
Not quite as bad as Gohan screeching how he wants to die constantly, but what can you do, this comic has been steadily getting worse for some time now, though Salagir has always been the sort of guy who thinks the essence of Dragon Ball is pointless violence, edginess and gore (Remember that close-up half-page panel he had of a dead little girl in the Future Gohan kills Dabura somehow special)
A question anybody making a fan project should ask themselves if they want their creation to be taken seriously in any regard by fans of the original is "Would the original creator have potentially written something like this?" and the answer to "Would Akira Toriyama have written Gohan going 'I WANT TO FUCKING DIE' after Baba tells him to eat shit and die (For no reason other than to try to clumsily sew up the 'what about Namek plothole' and failing in the process)" is NO.
Salagir (In comments)
Yes, i can say it now: Kamesennin is indeed dead, I don't care about the continuity with the movie.
No submarine
Yes, let's ignore one of best specials for sake of it
There was also Cell killing Hildegarn in straight out Mortal Kombat Fatality gorefest. I've said it once already, but Salagir writing often feel like chuuni teen edgelord fanfic, because brutal over the top stuff or rape (vide Kakarotto telling Pan what he did to girls in his universe) is so mature.
Honestly I think the weirdest part is probably the absolute *abhorrent* mishandling of Gohan's character. I cannot even FATHOM a universe where Gohan would see that his daughter would be fighting Bojack, somebody he KNOWS is stronger than her and then has no qualms about her fighting in a tournament where killing is 100% allowed by the idiotic rules (Which were another sign of early DBM edginess)
And then he acts shocked and dismayed when Pan brutally dies in front of him.
To make matters worse, the other Pan sees this and goes "Oh my god, my vastly more powerful counterpart just died horribly and I don't stand a chance in this tournament" Gohan basically goes "Nah, you'll be fine"
And then when she's up against the evil genocidal rapist version of her own grandfather (a man she loves dearly) Gohan decides to offer up information to the band of space genocidal marauders on how to get stronger so that they agree to make the clearly psychotic and insane Goku behave. (Same evil Goku goes on to sorta weirdly imply rape when he inevitably loses control anyway, yet Gohan still holds up his end of the deal (even though he had LITERALLY no reason to when the match was over, Smarthan in play))
You know, rather than Gohan going, "OK yeah, let's have you withdraw, this tournament isn't respectable at all."
Gohan might just be the dumbest written character in this whole dumb tournament.
