So, we can fight offline but on one stage. Someone touched on the graphics issues with split screen so maybe that's why we're confined to the ROSAT? Hopefully there's more to this.
This is disappointing news. I played tons of multiplayer rounds of the last games on the couch with friends. The least they could do is throw in the old stages if the technical demands of the single player arenas are too taxing for split screen... Which seems like a weak excuse anyway. Something smells fishy.
I'll be over here being an old man shaking my fist at the clouds... Back in my day-yadda yadda...
It hasn't been outright stated, but supposedly local multiplayer has issues pertaining to Xbox Series S according to an old interview. And I've heard from other places that if one version of a game has a gimped feature, then all other platforms have to follow suit due to parity reasons, since one version of the game having more features than another would possibly be anti-consumer or some sort of mumbo-jumbo.
TL;DR, there's a slight chance the Series S is holding the game back, but take that with a grain of salt.

OH MY GOD, ITS HAPPENING AGAIN IN MY ADULT LIFE!!! When I was a kid, Naruto Storm 1 had a huge free roam aspect that was dumbed down massively on Storm 2 probably due to Storm 2 being released on the Xbox. All Storm games followed suit and the free roam suffered. And what made me so annoyed is that Xbox players got Rise of a Ninja and The Broken Bond, but PlayStation players like myself never got to experience those. But then Xbox players got to experience the Storm games AND their exclusive Naruto games???
And now, Sparking Zero may very well be affected and dumbed also by the Xbox even though the Tenkaichi games were originally PS exclusives like Storm? NOOOOOO!!!

If it helps, the game coming to PC means that modders will probably find a way to expand the local multiplayer to include all stages. They always find a way to fix things.

Damn, it's pretty crazy how many spots are still left. Though, should the Gammas be on this list yet? Since they're DLC, I feel like they should be on their own grid.

Yes i agree.
I think there is room for the rest of the Z, super and GT.
The films and other sagas will probably be DLC.

Not saying this rules out GT and DB characters from the base roster, But it looks the story mode will only be covering Z and Super

What I do feel won't satisfy me is the fact that Goku and Freeza fight on a destroyed, lava-consumed Namek. And Goku isn't shirtless.
I want to see the stage where they fought for the most part: the still-green skies, some dark clouds here and there, maybe some background lava columns, plenty of light around the planet, perhaps a big hole in the middle of the stage... but not the straight about-to-blow Namek we always get.
There's the regular, green, good-lookin Namek where everything up to SS happened (games usually have the pre-Freeza portion take place here), the damaged-core Namek where Freeza reached 100% and fought SS Goku still with his blue shirt (the one we never get), and the red planet we always get.

I'm going to predict the characters again using the newly confirmed and disconfirmed characters for Base roster
100 Characters so far:
Missing forms bringing us to 121:
Missing characters bring us to 146:
Remaining character wishlist:
DLC is going to do lots of heavy lifting when it comes to Z Movies, OG DB, GT and even when it comes to the Super Fodder

I assume GT, the older movies and maybe OG Dragon Ball will be reserved for DLC, while the base roster will be firmly focused on Z and Super.

Why would y'all PAY for dlc of characters that have already been in base games?
The ONLY dlc characters that should ever have a price are either guest characters or characters and forms that premiere AFTER the game releases...
Daima is accepted.
You should pirate the repeats...
If you pay for those, you're part of the problem.
With that said, this game will be great.
PC is the way to go because of mods, but if there isn't crossplay I'd have to get xbox.

Most of the character's we're seeing haven't been in a Tenkaichi game
Also say everyone in this forum doesn't buy the DLC, 1000s maybe 100,000s will still buy the DLC...
Let people buy what they want to

How's everyone feeling about the Custom Battle feature? What are you expecting from it?
If it's anything like I'm imagining it to be, this mode alone will have infinite replay value.
Just think about all the possibilities.

Until they actually show it off, I'm assuming it's a theatre mode sort of feature, nothing as crazy as what people are thinking.

So you're expecting 250 characters at launch with no DLC? It's very easy for DLC to be a scummy practice, but the base game has the most characters of a Dragon Ball game ever, and it encompasses all of Z/Super. Of course they have to include Super in the base game instead of GT/Z movies because it's the latest hotness and it SELLS. Tell me what I'm missing here because outside of what they're currently doing I don't know what realistic result would satisfy the detractors.
It would be one thing if, like in many cases with DLC, they sell you a 70% done product for full price then ask you to buy the remaining 30% as DLC, but from what we've seen it seems like the base game is brimming with content. A sequel to these games AND a roster of this size to begin with were entirely unlikely. No one was expecting it, and here we're getting it, and people find reasons to complain based on unrealistic expectations of a business that does business things for profit. Plenty of games release with 25 characters and have DLC that adds 8 characters, and no one complains. Dragon Ball fans are so spoiled--I count myself among the spoiled fans in many cases, but this ain't it.
Thanos before Thanos was cool.

Exactly, a lot of people tend to forget that the original trilogy had to build upon itself to reach 161 characters, and Spike had to start from scratch when it came to Raging Blast, with RB2 reaching 100. With how much tech has progressed and how much more detailed character models are nowadays, the fact that Spike is able to reach a base roster of 164 out the gate is something that really shouldn't be looked past. Sure, it does suck that GT and the movies might not make it into the base roster (I wanted main my boy Majuub), but the fact that the roster is still so large at launch PLUS the inclusion of a story mode full of what-ifs is really nothing to scoff at.

I'm hoping it's like WWE 2K13's story creator
I'm worried it's just set battles with set costumes, battle modifiers and items

Just eant to point about Bulma has a model as well so it's quite possible we're getting more than 164 characters.
Let's be honest DLC and Sparking Zero 2 need something to sell as well.
Rather it be a sequel or DLC SS4 and movie characters will move these.

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm expecting (set battles, etc) from it.
But I'd love to be wrong.
The game itself is already looking amazing, but a story creator would be out of this world.

It's called waiting for the finished product.
Aka what we did in the good ol days. Lol
Regardless, it'll still be good, so don't complain about me not being a sheep to overpaying.
I'll always buy the base game, but paid dlc will forever be pirated.
