Does Goku have bad stamina?
This is something I've seen a lot, especially in equal stats battles.
The idea is that characters in Naruto and One Piece fight for days on end. Goku could only fight for 48 minutes in the ToP.
Wondering what the experts think?

I'm not an expert, but here's what I think: the Bugatti Veyron can reach 431 km/h (267 mph), but it drains its tank in 12 minutes when going at that speed; meanwhile, my 1994 Renault Twingo...
You can compare Goku to Naruto and Luffy as much as you can compare a Veyron to a Twingo.

After the ToP, I'd say not even close. Even out of breath he is better than most of the multiverse.

Re: Does Goku have bad stamina?
Is it ever stated anywhere that 48 minutes in the Null Realm correspond to 48 minutes on Earth?
When Goku and co. left for the Null Realm, it was night on Earth. When they return, the sun is rising.
This implies that 48 minutes in the Null Realm don't match 48 minutes on Earth and Goku and co. were actually fighting for what is essentially an entire night by Earth time zones.
Also, when did Naruto fight "for days on end"? The Pain arc was one morning. The War arc was 3 days, but Naruto skipped the first day of fighting and spent the majority of the third day unconscious. In reality, it's more accurate to say that he fought for 1.3 day.

Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

It depends how much power they use and put into their techniques. Sasuke at one point could only use 2 Chidori, a 3rd one would either fail or kill him. Naruto using Rasenshuriken in Sage Mode used to drain him out of chakra and Senjutsu chakra.
Remember this in 1 second in Dragon Ball the characters can do many things.

When 50% of fighting in DB is a couple of guys continuously trading blows in rhythmic patterns at vast superhuman speed, their stamina is not going to last too long in real time.

He lasted 48 minutes in a universe where they can fight thousands of times over the speed of light. He trains for years in the Room of Spirit and Time.

He ran on Snakeway for 28 hours straight.
Re: Does Goku have bad stamina?
Not really. Stamina is relative. Dragon Ball has a history of having characters max out to gain an advantage and battles are so fast that regular humans can't even perceive them without sensing it.
Re: Does Goku have bad stamina?
I mean different verses function differently with their feats and scaling stats equalised should mean stamina equalised sta is a stat lmao.
Regardless yeah two points:
He uses up his stamina that fast fighting DB level opponents.
If he can warp kamehameha the competition away then he doesn't need more stamina necessarily.

I mean, he went through the utter stamina hog that is Ultra Instinct.
I imagine learning an entire new form that drains him so significantly just by using it would affect his overall energy reserves.

Re: Does Goku have bad stamina?
I think DB characters in general got worse stamina in Super. This is at its most noticeable in RoF where after taking out a bunch of jobbers, everyone except Jaco ate senzus, even though they shouldn't be making any real effort to take them out.
Makes me wonder if Toriyama was having worse stamina because of his age and implemented that in the movies in the other characters.
Although that RoF moment could be just a simple way to foreshadow that there'll be a senzu left to use later, but if so it made everyone look terrible at stamina management.

I recall several comments from Roshi during the 23rd tournament, noting how Goku wasn't even breathing heavily at all even after so much exertion and fighting at extremely high speeds. Which would suggest Goku has great stamina.
Usually goes by "Kevtrev" elsewhere online.

Great pull, I forgot about that. Goku literally did high-altitude training like a UFC fighter.TrunksTrevelyan0064 wrote: Sat Jul 13, 2024 3:17 pm I recall several comments from Roshi during the 23rd tournament, noting how Goku wasn't even breathing heavily at all even after so much exertion and fighting at extremely high speeds. How did Toriyama know so much about martial arts and training methods? I know he watched a lot of kung fu movies but man, he must have watched every single movie.
