Recent (August/September 2024) Website Content Highlights

Post by VegettoEX » Mon Sep 09, 2024 1:36 pm

Something I don't typically think to do is share some of the work we've been doing on the main website over here in the forum. I like to assume that most forum community members also visit the main site... but that might not actually be the case!

So here are some cool things we've got going on, in case anyone's wondering "What exactly do these Kanzenshuu people do...?"

Podcast Episodes (and Video!)

At Otakon 2024 back at the beginning of August, I presented a panel entitled "Akira Toriyama Career Retrospective". I spent a literally-insane amount of time scanning new materials (even if they only ended up a couple hundred pixels wide in a slide!) and gathering tidbits together for this panel. An audio recording from the panel makes up the meat and potatoes of Podcast Episode #0511... but the whole video recording (and slides!) is also available on our YouTube channel! The standard audio podcast version has a little extra chat as well as the Q&A from the very end of the panel, so there's some cool extra stuff there.

Part of this panel included a newly-translated interview with Akira Toriyama from 1993! I timed it so the interview went live on the site almost exactly right when I debuted it during the panel at Otakon.

Just yesterday we posted Podcast Episode #0512 where Ajay and myself chat about the recent Daima trailer... and then I chat about some behind-the-scenes research info for a new manga guide page that just launched! If you haven't listened to a podcast episode before, this is an absolutely perfect one to jump into.

We have individual threads for each podcast episode here on the forum, so if you'd like to respond to any of the episodes, that's a great place to do so.

Databook Guide: Theatrical Movie Guides

Something we hadn't had fully documented on the site yet (other than one-off citations in the respective "Movie Guide" pages) are alllllll the variety of pamphlets, guide books, and even newspaper issues for the various theatrical films. That's been addressed! An all-new page in the "Databook Guide" now has a complete listing for each and every single one of these. Obviously this is just a main listing for all the books right now, and of course the eventual plan is to have individual pages for everything, but this was a necessary first step. You'll probably see some books listed in there that you had no idea existed!

Manga Guide: Dragon Ball GT Anime Comic

As far as I can tell, this is the only complete guide to this manga series on the entire Internet!

The Dragon Ball GT Anime Comic kinda silently ran for a full decade over in Saikyo Jump, and no-one's ever really seemed to care about it. I've gone through and compiled all the respective issues, dates, prices, chapter titles, episodes covered, etc. in another all-new page on the site. There's a ton of cool stuff to learn about on the page itself, and I also dropped an article over on our Patreon with even more photos and behind-the-scenes tidbits.

Miscellaneous Other Tidbits

We're always keeping up with manga guide stuff (did you know we're on the cusp of a new era over in Saikyo Jump?! And Victory Mission got a new chapter?!), translating all the cool comments each month in V-Jump and Saikyo Jump, translating and archiving important and newsworthy items (like the rights dispute!)... and just so much more.

If you don't regularly visit the actual website ("There's a website, too?!")... give it a go!
