I'm so curious how much Shida Naotoshi has worked on Daima. He's been so busy with One Piece, I'm curious how much he has worked on Daima besides what we have seen in the trailer?

I find it rather hilarious to think the Super anime was cancelled and not just put on hiatus because of the trainwreck of a production it had. A writer expressed relief they had consistency on the ToP when talking about SSG returning. That speaks for itself. If it was cancelled, the manga wouldn't have continued with new arcs specifically labeled as "Super" whose content they refuse to use in anything else. Similarly, Daima itself being around 20 episodes is proof they just aren't interested in long weekly animated DB now and it's just an anniversary project, otherwise they would be animating Broly or doing a way longer storyline.
That aside, I'm surprisingly excited by the first episode, even if the impressions from people who have seen it are rather generic. I can't say I'm a fan of the weird mini version's proportions, but it's hard to deny the trailers look great visually. It probably helps that, unlike with Super, I won't need to wait for months of recycled (and worse compared to the original) content to end. A low bar sure, but still. It also seems we are getting some kind of lore revelations which is always neat- Toriyama wasn't great with it and never really expanded on most things, but when it was necessary for the story he always included some fun world building. And the Demon Realm actually being explored means by nature it won't end as all the other Universes, relegated to mostly excuses for new characters.
English is not my first language. Please excuse my gramatical mistakes.

MisteryOne, who's seen it? Where are these generic impressions? I thought it wasn't being shown until tonight in a few theaters, am I wrong about that?

My bad I guess I confused Nov 10-12 as Oct. 10-12

I guess this is it then. After six years, a new series is at hand. Going off by the trailers, animation looks good, not that I care about it, but it's always a plus to have a good-looking series. Hopefully all we are in for is some great adventures and overall good time exploring unknown parts of the Demon Realm that wasn't possible for Dragon Ball Heroes to delve into.

Given Dragon Ball history, I'm not really expecting great lore and information, but it will put a smile on my face if we can get that. Like finally confirming that Dabura was a Makaio or a Makaioshin (and that he may have a sister out there...!). Hell, just hearing characters uttering one of those words would be cool, fifteen years after it was first spoken in an interview. It is another chance to explain to the viewer why Zamasu wasn't considered a Makaio (without actually mentioning him if it takes place before Dragon Ball Super, of course). Also, just give me somehing that confirms when this occurs, not "sometime later" ambiguous nonsense. Give me something solid that I can work with.

I can't wait to check it out. May Toriyama left us with a project from the deepest bottom of his heart. And happy anniversary, Dragon Ball!

Impressive, they managed to hold out on releasing further specific staff details right till there was only one day left for its release (it's already that day over in JP now).

Wasn't expecting for a sub forum to be created, it feels so weird now XD, but here we are, 1 year later after the announcement, a long time and I can't believe that I'm still not prepared for this moment, I'm so excited and I'm sure the chances of me loving it are high, but I'm also so scared of failing. At this point there's pretty much no doubts that this takes place right after Boo Saga, so I can forget my wish for this story to make progress in the continuity and continue from where Super stopped, all we can do now is enjoy it and expect the little chance of this story to have any impact in the future.

Other than that, I don't think I have any other worries, aside from one, I really hope that this story will be very original, I don't mind if they reuse concepts from Boo Saga and try to explore them further, that would be really good actually, but my fear is that the show will once again try to give a lot of fanservice and focus on empty nostalgia with a bunch of rehashed ideas, that was the biggest problem with Super and the revival era of the franchise in general in my opinion, I think Battle of Gods making a lot of references to previous sagas was good because it was the revival of the franchise, so making that movie into something like a "celebration" really worked for me, and it still had its original characters and concepts after all.

Now stuff like Resurrection 'F' being Freeza Saga 2.0, The Final act of Super Hero being Cell Saga 2.0, the return of Mirai Trunks, etc, it wasn't very good for me, the first parts of Super Hero, the original stories, with original concepts and characters were the best part of Super for me, only DBS Broly used nostalgia and fanservice in a good way in my opinion.

I hope Daima will take the different path and try to be original just like how the Super manga exclusive sagas and its two Tournament Sagas tried to be (though U7 vs U6 and ToP had a lot of fanservice too, mostly in the anime, but I'm talking about the entire story or a part of it, I don't mind a few scenes doing it) no Boo Saga 2.0 please, though, it would make sense for Daima to do a lot of callbacks to the previous sagas now that it's going to be Toriyama's final work, so, I'm pretty confused here, I don't know XD I just hope this show will be memorable enough to honor Toriyama's journey and legacy, with all of his potential and care put into it.

Just a few hours left, let's sit and wait : )
I simply wouldn't want to imagine my life without Dragon Ball, thank you Akira Toriyama (1955-2024), you are now immortal ~☆

I think I heard "Dabura no chichi" at some point, but I certainly must have misheard it. At any rate, can't wait for the subtitles. They were celebrating Trunks' birthday but I couldn't catch any "number", hopefully they said something so I can update the timeline.

Dang, now I really wish they had just recast Nozawa's roles. I'm curious if the idea is to use these new voice actors for a future second adaption of the original series?

I'm surprised Mayumi Tanaka didn't cast Krilin, just like Nozawa, she played Krilin as a child as an adult.

Tanaka might have felt that she could no longer provide the voice of Kuririn as a child. Nozawa was probably only retained because it would have been a greater upset within the industry or Toriyama specifically requested to at least retain her.

That part of the intro with the cast walking by seemed very reminiscent of GT's Blue Velvet ending, with the entire cast walking by. It's basically the same shot.

(posting here in the general topic because it's not related to a specific episode, and it's not interesting enough to warrant a new separate topic)

The title of each episode so far had a red kana amongst white ones. The first three read "boguda", do you think it's going to spell out something important?
