THREAD/DISCUSSION INFORMATION
Q: What is this thread?
A: This is the singular/dedicated discussion thread for Dragon Ball Daima episode 7. All content regarding this specific episode would be great to include here in this thread, rather than a dedicated / larger / all-encompassing ongoing thread. Posts that are specific to this individual episode in another thread with no relevance to the larger series or discussion taking place there will be reported and/or removed.
Q: When will this thread open?
A: This thread will be opened by a Kanzenshuu moderator when the episode is available to watch, through official channels, in its entirety.
Q: What is the history behind a [blank]-specific discussion thread?
A: We established episode-specific discussion threads beginning with Dragon Ball Kai in 2009, followed by the Dragon Ball Super television series in 2015. These episode-specific threads allowed people to discuss just that: those specific episodes, without being interrupted by other discussions regarding general production, promotion, etc. This is in contrast to, for example, other things on our website like our podcast reviews, which generally tackle story arcs as complete wholes.
Q: OK, but... so what's the point?
A: At Kanzenshuu we believe in history and preservation. It is worthwhile to future versions of ourselves and entirely new future fans to be able to dig back and find real-time reactions to specific productions (such as a specific episode or chapter). It's much easier to do this when the discussions are separated into these unique threads.
Q: When will new threads be created?
A: Threads for new/upcoming episodes will be created by a Kanzenshuu administrator at an appropriate point in time. Please do not attempt to create episode discussion threads of your own.
Q: What kinds of "sources" can we discuss?
A: You can discuss whatever you want, so long as it lives up to the community guidelines. It is recommended that you link to / discuss actual sources of information, rather than second-hand accounts. Random Twitter users are not "sources" of information. Shueisha has its own official Dragon Ball website and weekly news broadcast on YouTube, and then there is of course Dragon Ball Daima's own official website, which will in all likelihood be your actual primary sources of information leading up to an episode’s release.
Q: What if I have something to say about another episode that's not this episode?
A: Is what you have to say/ask/post even tangentially related to this episode? That's fine. Does it have absolutely nothing to do with this episode? Post it elsewhere. These episode-specific threads do not automatically close after a new episode comes out; you are free to keep discussing a specific episode for as long as you all feel like talking about it.
Q: How does this relate to [insert example here]? Why isn't [insert example here] lining up with [insert example here] from [insert example here]?
A: We don't know! We're all learning along the way! Maybe everything counts! Maybe nothing counts! Maybe only certain things count!

Good:
- Characters using actual Martial Arts during fight scenes fill my heart with joy.
- Yay, Team B made it to the Demon Realm.
Bad:
- Yet another episode that feels like padding. Nothing much happened except build up next episode's fight.
Misc:
- Manpuku Dumplings, Senzu Beans before they became health potions.
- So Goku CAN teleport, I will be sure to annoy the heck out of this show about it.

In Daima, Shin says that the Katchin is a material that can only be obtained in Planet Kaishin where the Glinds used to live, but in Super, Daishinkan says that the Katchin is mined in Universe 7
Goin' down to South Park gonna have myself a time

Oh, thank Dende Kaioshin of East's name isn't "Shin", that's dumb. Not that I call them by their names, with the exception of Kaioshin of Time, but if I ever feel like it, "Nahare" is a good one.

You will not, unless you're not the Goku who will get recolors!

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
This ep was better than Episode 6 was, and this was just setup for the next episode. The animation felt a little wonky when Glorio and them were fighting the Secret Police guys, but maybe that was just me. Panzy continues to have that charm and NAHARE FINALLY GETS TO DO SOME STUFF, like fighting and using his Glind magic to break Panzy's collar. I also like how Goku gets to have a 1-on-1 with Tamagami #3, with no Vegeta or Piccolo, and the preview of that fight looks godly.
The Iron Fjord will kick you in the nuts!

Goku admitting he had little involvement raising his kids is gonna trigger a certain part of the community that's been defending him as a great dad. lol.
Finally, we got confirmation that even Dabura could not stop the Tamagami. Obviously, we don't know how strong pre-Majin Dabura was, but I would assume the weaker Tamagamis are at least SSJ2 level, with the strongest forcing SSJ3. I don't believe we'll see a fusion until the ultimate bad guy, who will likely be something created by Arinsu (*cough* Glorio).

"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
I really liked the scene where Panzy got free of the magic collar. It communicated how a great burden was removed from her, great stuff.
I'm enjoying all the culinary showing, they should release a cookbook.
We've reached the Tamagami and those on Earth have arrived. Feels like part 1 is coming to close.
PS: So..., Goku can feel Nahare's ki? God Ki doesn't exist?

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
I had a laugh when Panzy suggested meeting up with Vegeta and the others first and Goku just shrugs it off and tells them that they can catch up first. Vegeta ain't gonna be pleased.
Also, the McDonald's ad on tonight's episode on Viu TV mentioned an added item to the McDonald's Dragon Ball Daima meal. This time, it's teriyaki fried chicken. (Yes, McDonald's serves fried chicken in Hong Kong. I've had it before. They're actually not that bad.). No idea how different these fried chicken will taste from the regular McDonald's chicken will taste.

Didn't think that Teleportation would come into play so soon.
The Tamagami introduction scene felt like something out of Shadow of the Colossus. Ruins, track, and all. Excellent choice.
Totally didn't expect that big shout though, lol
Not really complaining about pacing or padding though, it's going to be a real short adventure for the most part with only 19 episodes or so of runtime left.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
I would like to see a Kai-type cut of this show, that cuts out all the lore dumps and padding. We may finally see our first major fight next week though, so that could be exciting. If this show does have 20 episodes though, I hope that the pacing and action picks up soon.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
I'm not gonna lie, I've enjoyed Daima guite a bit, but that was about as useless an episode as I've seen in DB and I've seen every filler episode.
Next weeks episode though looks much better though

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
I love this show so much! The pacing may be slow but I don't mind. I'm in no rush. I just love seeing the characters interact with and learn about the world as well as each other.
New piece of art at 1:05 minutes now that we know the Minotaur is a joke. Neat!
Goku admitting he didn't really have much to do with his childrens upbringing is just so wonderfully honest!
Panzy has amazing eyesight. If she fuses with Piccolo no one will be able to sneak past them!
Seeing Shin fight is nice. It's nice to be reminded that he is actually capable of holding his own when he needs to. There sadly has rarely (if ever?) been much room for that outside of the Buu arc.
The collars being so easily removed really goes to show how downtrodden the people of the 3rd demon world are. Such a seemingly easy solution that anybody could learn yet seemingly no one even knows or thinks to try... I'm sure there is something profound to be said here but I'm not sure how to articulate it.
Shin has a second name! "Nahare" huh? I wonder what kind of pun it's supposed to be.
I've seen less than half a minute of Peral yet I already feel like I'm gonna love this character assuming they show up again. Something about their design and the way they talk speaks to me. Having a cool hacker character help out while our main gang are out doin' crimes and such is also a fun idea.
The Tamagami being loud and having a personality at all I for some reason didn't expect. I thought it was just going to be stoic and ruthless. Knowing Toriyama and with the overall tone of this series I should've seen it coming a mile away!
The next episode preview was extended and just nicely I feel. Just enough footage to get one excited for next time without having Goku or whoever spoil what happens along with a spoilery episode title.
The only real gripe I had this week was with them trying to hide Panzy's shock and talking loudly when Goku was slipping away. It was pretty ackwardly presented.
Did anyone else have issues with the subtitles on Crunchyroll? A lot of words has â€| at the end for some reason. It's weird.

I had absolutely no issues with the English subtitles watching it on Viu TV. Maybe it was an error with the encoded tags on their end.No9tro wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 2:33 pm Did anyone else have issues with the subtitles on Crunchyroll? A lot of words has â€| at the end for some reason. It's weird.

I think this is the first mention of Planet Kaishin in official media?

Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
We finally got an episode that actually cuts between our 2 groups here. Not that group B was allowed to do much here, but it's something...refreshing even.
Here was showcased a really creative application of the Instant Transmission, I suppose setting up that Goku can still use it is important, but I just like how it was used in that scene. It's not the type of thing that he'd ever need to use it for in the typical DB scenario.
Since they were simply a flight away from the guardian, I was worried that little conflict would leave them without a plane yet again, because for no reason at all Shin and Glorio just lead fire right back towards their own plane. Which didn't make any sense. This is the first time in a long time we get to see Shin fight hand-to-hand, so I guess he wasn't lying about being a decent fighter.
Of course in usual Dragon Ball fashion because of this unnecessary scuffle causing an unnecessary complication, the situations immediately resolved so they can continue their journey unimpeded. I do wish that they set this up...if we at least met the person Panzy contacted in the castle, that would've been nice.
To go with that, group B also got to the Demon Realm with no real complication...despite what we saw in episode 3, but the story's been dragging its feet a bit. So it's fine that they just ignored that, Piccolo probably just did the same thing Shin did for Blooma & Vegeta.
Shin removing Panzy's collar was a nice scene, I initially thought he was just going to teleport it away, but it being a magic spell that anyone can learn is...a convenient way for the heroes to help these people help themselves (if they remember to teach it or pass this info to the King)
Also Shin has a real name...that's neat. I like how Goku's usual attitude of being casual with the Gods of this world was kind of subverted...as he doesn't think using an actual name for the Supreme Kai sounds right.
With such little time left in the episode I did wonder if the fight with the Tamagami would start here...but as soon as Goku mentioned wanting to eat and go to the bathroom, it was pretty clear they wanted to give it its own dedicated episode. That's fine.
Also the Tamagami immediately shouting upon Goku trying to talk with it was pretty funny, so I guess they aren't going to be as stoic as presented. They just don't do anything until people interact with them.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
Nothing new under the sun. If he can teleport to Kaio's world and would teleport to Kaioshin's planet in the very same movie god Ki is introduced, then Goku was always able to sense god Ki. Buu was also revealed to have god Ki and Goku said "his Ki never depletes".
When Kaio of North said "you can't feel god's presence", it was one of his jokes. Remember those when he was introduced? We were supposed to laugh at that moment (we should still probably be laughing about it now). Either that or god Ki is but a collective delusion, we all dreamed the same dream.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
So the Glinds have their own planet. Turns out Kaishin is canon after all. But is it in the demon realm or outside of it?
Animation was rough this episode. Much has been said about the care going into the animation but nothing has wow'd me so far outside of the Boo arc Recap in episode 1. It's been consistently alright.
Couldn't care less about the Tamagamis and them not having unique names isn't helping.
Very nice to see Shin fight. And be useful.
Also nobody could sense Shin's Ki in the Boo arc. This is a plot hole, if anything, or Goku locked on to Glorio or Panzy.
