This is just so boring outside of some lore drops here and there.
We are 1/3 in on the series and there's just not been a great fight at all.

I thought I was the only one that felt this way lol. Daima fights haven't been bad or anything. They're just not impressive or engaging. The only thing I can say I truly don't like is the fact that Mini Goku's chubby baby face kind of ruins all of his serious and angry expressions, but I can't name anything about the fights that I particularly like or something that makes them stand out.Yuji wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 3:25 pm So the Glinds have their own planet. Turns out Kaishin is canon after all. But is it in the demon realm or outside of it?
Animation was rough this episode. Much has been said about the care going into the animation but nothing has wow'd me so far outside of the Boo arc Recap in episode 1. It's been consistently alright.
Couldn't care less about the Tamagamis and them not having unique names isn't helping.
Very nice to see Shin fight. And be useful.
Also nobody could sense Shin's Ki in the Boo arc. This is a plot hole, if anything, or Goku locked on to Glorio or Panzy.
At first I thought my disappointment was because I've been looking at Daima like it's supposed to be Toei's apology for their subpar work on most of DBS and giving One Piece all that passion and high quality work immediately right after Super ended, and that's kind of an unreasonable way to look at it, I'll admit, so I'm trying to look at it objectively but I'm still not satisfied.
Is it because the fights so far have been short sparring sequences and tussles with mooks? I guess we'll know next week.

So the whole Bulma repairing the spaceship was wasted time, since it didn't lead to anything. The other ship would have picked them up regardless.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
I think they're planting the seeds for a Bulma-Panzy tech rivalry, maybe with Bulma being the underdog because she's unaware of how demon realm tech works. It should be a fun dynamic.Jord wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 3:33 pm So the whole Bulma repairing the spaceship was wasted time, since it didn't lead to anything. Do you want to wait until...after the fight to "not care" about this character who hasn't done anything yet?Couldn't care less about the Tamagamis and them not having unique names isn't helping.
Otherwise I'm not sure what there's supposed to be there to not care about.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 7 - Official Discussion Thread
The designs? Obviously that's a big part of any character, especially a sub-boss who's going to be around for an episode and a half.StaticMania wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 3:55 pmDo you want to wait until...after the fight to "not care" about this character who hasn't done anything yet?Couldn't care less about the Tamagamis and them not having unique names isn't helping.

That's something I guess...
I thought the first one looked pretty cool, but they appear to be a bit homo. So this 3rd one doesn't really stand out from it, they might blend together a bit.
---
Also the Dragon Ball is on its chest...and that was the same for the first one, but as I looked back at the episode...this is the first thing I noticed. I thought the Dragon Ball was that massive orb above the Tamagami and I thought this because it had a star in it.
But apparently that's not the case, so I'm curious to know what that was.

I think the animations been superb but this episode definitely felt like the weakest. I'm not expert but seemed like it was much less smooth, maybe less in between frames (like Goku opening that barn door for instance). Then there was the clear cgi with the ships stairs from the guide from demon realm (hestu? I forget his name sorry)
Probably my least favourite episode, but had some fun moments and at least one reveal per episode continues. I don't think Goku locking on to shins ki is an issue, short distance teleportation seems different to when he used it to travel between planets.
And the kachin reference contradicting super could be interesting, can't both statements be true? It can originate on the kai planet and then maybe universe 7 supreme kais used it to make some planets?

Daima doesn't need a Kai cut, it just needs to be binged instead of weekly, and I think that might be the reason why it was originally gonna be a web anime, completely dumped all the episodes in one goJord wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 2:24 pm I would like to see a Kai-type cut of this show, that cuts out all the lore dumps and padding. We may finally see our first major fight next week though, so that could be exciting. If this show does have 20 episodes though, I hope that the pacing and action picks up soon.

Every time the characters are standing in front of people they can't sense Ki, they comment about it. It happened with the androids, and it happened again in Dragon Ball Super Super Hero. I don't remember them saying the same thing throughout the Majin Buu saga. So when was this stated?

Panzy being freed from that collar is a relief. I hope she learns a way to out-tech Arinsu!
Pride is coming a bit late this year, I see. Oh well, more homos for me.StaticMania wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:09 pm I thought the first one looked pretty cool, but they appear to be a bit homo. So this 3rd one doesn't really stand out from it, they might blend together a bit.

Yeah, but now there's a third ship that can eventually lead to the arrival of the two actual strongest characters in universe 7: Gohan and Fat Buu.Jord wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 3:33 pm So the whole Bulma repairing the spaceship was wasted time, since it didn't lead to anything. "Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

I would love to see Fat Buu in action. Him being MIA in most of Super was such a huge waste. He basically had one fight in Super, against one the wolf dudes, and it was awesome.fadeddreams5 wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 5:28 pmYeah, but now there's a third ship that can eventually lead to the arrival of the two actual strongest characters in universe 7: Gohan and Fat Buu.Jord wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 3:33 pm So the whole Bulma repairing the spaceship was wasted time, since it didn't lead to anything. He's probably the strongest character behind Goku, Gohan and Vegeta and has unique powers. I would have love to see more of him.

No. In fact, in the DBS anime, right before giving his last speech that got him oblitered by Beerus, Zamasu was asked by Gowasu if he come from Kaishin. Zamasu responded something like "Kaishin ? What are you talking about ?"Neo-Makaiōshin wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 2:38 pm I think this is the first mention of Planet Kaishin in official media?
Shin Nahare exposed as a fraud God.LightBing wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 2:12 pm PS: So..., Goku can feel Nahare's ki? God Ki doesn't exist?![]()
Theses lines confused me because I didn't understand the point of Gowasu question in this context and it seemed that Zamasu didn't either. I interpreted it as if Gowasu infered that his apprentice didn't showcase the behavior and ethics of the "core people" (as they were called in the guidebooks ) from the Kaishin planet.

I don't know if you're aware, but calling something 'homo' is historically derogatory towards LGBTQIA+ people. That phrasing is really not the best to use.StaticMania wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 5:31 pmHomogeneousVegettoEX wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 5:27 pmCan you elaborate on this, please?StaticMania wrote: Fri Nov 22, 2024 4:09 pm I thought the first one looked pretty cool, but they appear to be a bit homo.

Ok...
I've never heard it used in that specific way, but I understand.

Last 2 episodes have been underwhelming, but next one should be a good one.
I was surprised by the longer next episode preview

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
