How did Cells timeline beat Boo? Did Bulma make another time machine?

How did Cells timeline beat Boo? Did Bulma make another time machine?

Post by TobyS » Mon Dec 02, 2024 11:35 am

So in future trunks timeline earth is pretty depopulated so babidi gathers energy in space and comes back 10 years later than in the main timeline iirc.

However in the future trunks timeline Shin, elder kaioshin and kibito die and Trunks lives.
Black chooses this timeline because uniquely Beerus is dead because Shin is.

However at first glance cells timeline is worse off with Trunks being dead yet Shin must live.

At first I wondered if Shin just didn't confront babidi directly but we know in all timelines he doesn't realise he has Dabra so should have tried. Did they manage to teleport away before dabra could speedlitz kibito?

Did they recruit Broly? Or use Nameks dragonballs on the future warriors sans Goku and vegeta who might have kept bodies?

Is it possible Bulma makes another time machine after cell steals it? and they bring future Trunks back to life, maybe picking up a dende thanks to a living goku in the unseen timeline?

How long would it take her to make a whole new one and fuel it? She's not in hiding anymore at least. Do you think it's possible to have a time machines coordinates backup so she can get back to the unseen without forking the timeline again?

In Cell's timeline, there is no left on Earth. Babidi probably didn't get much ki for Buu without Trunks around. Zamasu lives in peace as you don't have Goku Black around to do anything.

But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

That's Trunks' timeline, where Trunks is alive. Super also gave an answer to that question.

This is about Cell's timeline, where Trunks is dead and Cell is gone.

I agree that there was probably nothing of value for them, and so they left. If we then take Super into account, and there are only 27 other planets with life in the universe, I honestly don't see Boo getting revived any time soon, if at all. If we take GT into account, perhaps they eventually reach M2; I wonder how well Dabra would fair against Rild, and if the Machine Mutants even have any kili worth taking (I know Goku says he's stronger than Boo, but like many strength comparisons to characters with multiple transformations and stages, it's unclear which one is being invoked. Is it the Boo they fought, or the Boo they've been friends with for over a decade? If it's the latter, how strong even is he, given that the evil half had most of the power?).

Maybe that version of Bulma made another time machine and travelled to the unseen present timeline where they destroyed the Androids with the remote controller to ask Goku and friends for help.

In Cell's timeline, Trunks beat 17 and 18, right?

Earth is left pretty barren and without any real power to collect. Assuming Babidi still finds Buu on Earth, he just collects the pod and takes him elsewhere. He's essentially someone else's problem.

In the manga they have the power already after 10 years of gathering and arriving on earth.
So it's possible they wake him there unless babidi only attacked specific planets.
If he wakes there he could destroy earth

I think another thing to consider is that he doesn't necessarily need the energy to revive Boo. That could have happened just by shaking the ship too much. The energy was meant to restore his strength. I could imagine a scenario where Bobbidi eventually cuts his losses and revives him without him being at full strength, especially if someone out there was ever able to give him and Dabra enough pushback.

They didn't have enough to wake Buu though...right? They still had to gather a LOT more.

One would have to wonder just how weak Buu would be at not full strength, then...

It would depend on how much energy had been gathered at the time of awakening.

"There's no way I would let you ruin my plan! It took me over 10 years to gather all of that energy to resurect Majin boo"
I feel like he had it all, that's probably why he came back to a still mostly empty earth after leaving for 10 years. It's possible earth has just enough to finish the job, but if earth was so ravaged he probably filled up elsewhere first, he had no idea how fast and much they would repopulate, Boos egg was on earth so they came to wake him.

Obviously, but is a 50% Buu still more powerful than any other villain? I'm sure some guide book or something tells us his power level, but I care less about that than I would the hypothetical "Would Toriyama use 'Buu was weak' as the rationale behind one of the remaining warriors, or perhaps even Dabra, being able to defeat him?"

This is another conundrum and ultimately why I don't like how the Future Trunks timeline handled Buu. Should have been that either Gohan or the Androids stopped Buu's resurrection. Or Babidi took Buu's egg and left Earth, then at some point Supreme Kai assassinated Babidi and Dabura bounced off to the Demon World.

I guess they really just needed an excuse to kill all of the Kais for the Goku Black arc and sort of worked the story backwards from there. Not great writing, imo.

How did Cell's timeline deal with Buu? They didn't. Babidi is still hiding underground on Earth with the egg.

They drained ss2 gohan to get power for boo originally they expected to drain a tonne of regular humans instead.
When future gohan was around there was neither of those things so they spent a decade gradually getting a ss2 gohan level of power in space I think that makes perfect sense.

Shin dying to a ss2 tier enemy makes sense. I have no issue with it.
I do think you are right they worked backwards. Because Boo arc was written without the thought of the time difference for the future timeline or that we'd ever see the timeline again.
But I personally think they did a good job with it. I think it reads well in the manga and it's a nice way to get a beerusless timeline, have trunks return to the story and reach ss2 in one go.

But yeah Id like to know how Shin found Trunks, probably just sensed his kis or saw him flying around fixing the city.

I just wish we saw what happened. Either something happened in the afterlife that caught Shins attention or he escaped mid fight against dabra and sought allies in people in the afterlife or Broly or something. Or perhaps Bulma did a new time machine and got help from the unseen timeline.

Shin can look through the orb or crystal ball that he has on his planet. Or is that something they can only do with the elder supreme kai around?

Things can happen differently in one timeline than it does another. When Trunks came back after 3 years after his first visit he found a dead Android 19. There was no android 19 in his timeline.
