Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 10 - Official Discussion Thread
I liked the episode overall, so is Super just not part of this continuity? It just seems like they’re going out of their way to introduce stuff that adds a ton of complications/inconsistencies with it. First it was the fusion thing, then it was Nahare calling Goku the strongest being in the universe and now its that Rymus was the actual creator….I don’t mind either way but it’s getting a little bit confusing. I'm sure that its possible to come up with explanations, but its happening consistently enough for me to question if they care about remaining consistent with DBS.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 10 - Official Discussion Thread
Another good episode
• I didn’t expect the action to start right away, that was awesome
• Hybis saying that the reason Vegeta wants to become an adult again, along with Bulma, is because he likes big boobs and the fact that he didn’t deny it totally caught me off guard lol
• Funny how before they mentioned it, I (and I’m sure others watching too) noticed the resemblance between this Second Demon World and Planet Namek.
• Ok, Goku basically took down several Demon World military police planes, and even if they didn’t die from the crash, they fell into a sea with a giant monster. Couldn't that be considered that he now killed people?
• I’ll admit, the scene with Panzy and the Kraken got me a bit tense, but it would be totally unlikely for them to kill off a character with her importance right now
• After all the comparisons with Monaka, I didn’t expect Kuu to also share this similarity with him: useful in areas other than combat. That was really unexpected, because I thought a being born from Boo (cells?) would be an unstoppable force, but once again, Toriyama subverting our expectations lol
• Huh? What the F with that lore Shin was introducing to us? There's now another guy that is like Zeno but this one in fact did created all the universes? Didn't understand jack sh*t of that... But one more time we have a confirmation that are other universes, something that was stated first from Beerus to Goku and yet they don't care about? Meh
• Neva shows up at the end looking all villainous near Goku and the others’ ship. I wonder what that means
• NEP shows that we’re finally going to see Vegeta in action against a real opponent. Would he’ll need to use SSJ2, too?

Another great episode. Kuu didn't go as expected though. Hard to tell if he's stronger than Kid Buu as planned, or if #1 is just that much stronger... If this is the case, it'd explain (unsubstantiated rumor/spoiler chatter removed). We've reached the half way point, so we gotta pick up the pace even quicker now.
As someone said before, I'd like to assume that Zenny and this new being are basically One Above All and One Below All. Only time will tell, but I feel like I remember something about Daima being important to a future saga of Super...
We still have #2, Majin Duu, SS3 Kid Goku, SS3 Vegeta, and a potential fusion to get through in short time.

That could mean a lot or it could mean nothing. Don’t forget that Otherworld tournament characters were referenced in Toriyamas manga even though that arc itself isn’t part of the manga’s continuity. Or even how the Bardock special was referenced and now that story isnt part of his manga either.Luso Saiyan wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 4:57 pmOf course it isn't. The Rymus thing is a pretty big addition, and if that’s not made to square with what we’re told in Super then i think we have reason to see Daima as its own thing

Asking for trans representation in media, or to respect their pronouns, is not woke politics.

1) Shin did not know of Zeno's existence until the destroyer tournament, which makes Shin calling Rymus the ultimate authority only make sense until the destroyer tournament when Zeno makes his debut and which he did not know about.
2) Zeno wouldn't take any orders from anyone because he is the ultimate authority that everyone listens to when Rymus created universes at the behest of the Supreme Demon King.
3. Rymus is referred to as the greatest authority but in the universe when Zeno rules over the entire multiverse and all that exists.

Can you not just post stuff about leaks without at the very least warning and spoiler tagging them (as I have done for you here). A lot of people are trying to watch this show spoiler free

More and more Dragon Ball turning into Marvel, things that are great to see!HulkTySSJ5 wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:03 pmAs someone said before, I'd like to assume that Zenny and this new being are basically One Above All and One Below All.

Anyway, I really would like to know where angels, Daishinkan, Makaios and Makaioshins (if these two are still a thing) fit in all of this. Heck, maybe even Toribot should probably be formally introduced, though now with the existence of Rymus, Toribot would complicate things further.
Demon Realm existing prior to the Multiverse is curious, though. If Kaioshins are the Gods of Creation, who created the beings in the Demon Realm?

New Characters using They/Them pronouns are on topic.
Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 10 - Official Discussion Thread
Shin himself didn't know Zen-Oh before the U6 arc. He doesn't recognize him or his name at all when he first arrives in the tournament. Meanwhile, everything regarding Zen-O never claimed he was some kind of supreme creator, so there was always space left for that character to exist. So, it doesn't contradict anything and the lack of mention of Zen-Oh here doesn't contradict Super's continuity.tonysoprano300 wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:05 pmThat could mean a lot or it could mean nothing. Regarding the Other World Tournament characters, really that's more Toei wanting designs for the other directional Kai that were already implied to exist by Toriyama. The only "Other World Tournament" character who appears in the manga is South Kai (and apparently that was before the filler episode where he first appeared), and then Grand Kai (who is a Toriyama design) is mentioned when Piccolo faces Shin for the first time.
The Bardock situation did happen, but I'd say it points to the opposite. Toriyama ignored the flashback he included in his own manga, not just the special that inspired those flashbacks, while doing the modern content with Bardock (which gave him a new design), so if the content has sloppy continuity with old one at one point or another, that's just it. Sloppy continuity, not an attempt to erase everything that came before.

I guess that makes sense, curious to see if they elaborate on this further. Although id imagine that the Supreme Kai would assume that Zeno was Rymus when he saw him at the tournament or at least be surprised that it wasn’t.NameSaiyan wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:12 pm 1) Shin did not know of Zeno's existence until the destroyer tournament, which makes Shin calling Rymus the ultimate authority only make sense until the destroyer tournament when Zeno makes his debut and which he did not know about.

I think its just confusing as to why they added this go begin with , I'm assuming it has to somewhere. I originally assumed Zeno created the universes but I guess this puts that to bed.

Literally one of the oldest theories was that Zeno and the Grand Minister were like Beerus and Whis and Champa and Vados. A Destroyer God (childish and bratty) and an Angel mentor (wise and composed).
Yet we didn't know who the "Creator" counterpart could be. Zalama seemed like the most likely candidate, as the deity who created the Super Dragon Balls and Super Shenron.
Now it's clear that this "Creator" was Rymus. So it's Rymus (Creator), Zeno (Destroyer), and Grand Minister (Angel).
Zeno embodies Destruction itself. He is a being capable of destroying all of existence. His counterpart, Rymus, is instead able to create existence.
Speaking of which, I also want more lore drops on Zalama. Go all out on the lore on the Gods.

Akira Toriyama, DBS vol.4 joint interview with ToyotaroAt his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

If you're using terms like "woke" in a serious way, you most likely never completed preschool. Not good ethos. Not to mention, we had characters who don't have a gender in Dragon Ball. This is nothing new.HulkTySSJ5 wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:03 pmPlease stick to the topic instead of woke politics.JulieYBM wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 4:34 pm Rymus using they/them pronouns is awesome, actually. They both can be the ultimate authority of the multiverse, at specific points. Just like how Obama was the highest authority in the USA in 2013-2017 and Trump was the highest authority in 2017-2021.AliTheZombie13 wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:19 pm Back to speaking seriously:
Super explicitly states Zen'O is the ultimate authority of the multiverse.
Daima explicitly states Rymus is the ultimate authority of the multiverse.
Both shows present information that contradict each other.
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.

This new god is a creator, while from what we saw Zeno mostly did things related to destruction. I wonder if they have a sort of Kaioshin/Hakaishin relationship, where they're essentially sharing the role of highest authority, albeit heading distinct departments. Partners at the top. Or, maybe we're getting the classic "oh you thought this was the highest god? Well yeah we said that, but there was actually another one even higher this whole time". I've been making jokes about us someday meeting "Zenoshin" since like 2017, so it would be funny if this is finally the god above Zeno. Or maybe Zeno is now meant to be the god above them. I wonder if we'll find out.
That doesn't have any bearing on continuity. All of these new lore additions and retcons could just as easily have been introduced in the next Super story after Super Hero, and it would make about the same difference. And, like, they're still referring to concepts and using character designs from Super. Contradictions and retcons do not new continuities make. Otherwise......tonysoprano300 wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 4:55 pmI liked the episode overall, so is Super just not part of this continuity? Valid point, I wonder who that Supreme Demon king dude is in this hierarchy? If he could order Rymus to create the multiverse then wouldn’t that imply some level of superiority to even the highest order of diety?Zephyr wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 6:26 pm This new god is a creator, while from what we saw Zeno mostly did things related to destruction.
