Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 11 - Official Discussion Thread
For those who were complaining, finally an episode that ended on a cliffhanger!
• Well, if I had to guess, I’d say Neva’s trying to trick them, making them think that without him, they won’t get their wish for and I believe that when the time comes, he’ll wish for something totally different
• Damn, I remember seeing Majin Duu's image somewhere and I swore it was just fan art. I didn’t expect it to be something real from this series. At least his name is more 'family-friendly' here in Brazil than Majin "Kuu," lol
• I said before that Kuu seemed threatening in his first appearance, but Duu turned out to be way more dangerous, especially considering how much trouble he's giving Tamagami No. 1
• I didn’t expect to have scenes switch between two simultaneous fights. Anyone remember the last time we saw that in DB overall?
• Obviously, Vegeta’s not gonna die, but is this the event that made him criticize Goku for not using his full power against Black in their first fight? Because basically, he is making this same mistake now. He could've just transformed into SSJ and fought seriously against Tamagami No. 2. Or is that because Vegeta still doesn’t know if he’s capable? (Since he’s fought less than Goku since they got to the Demon World)
• Don’t tell me all this Kraken nonsense is just an excuse for Goku to take over Vegeta’s fight? If so it will be the WORST decision of Daima so far. I hope I’m wrong

They got me! I actually like Duu and Kuu now! Damnit! I prefer Duu over Kuu design-wise, and he acts like a stereotypical Majin. His fighting style is also hilarious. He's like, let me just sit on you 'cause I'm fat", and the twerking in the intro had me dying. It's also very cute seeing Kuu happy over having a little brother. Something tells me these two Majins will have a happy ending rather than get killed off like we initially thought. Overall, Majin Duu and Kuu are very wholesome characters who I now want to protect at all costs.
As for Vegeta's fight with Tamagami 2, he got done dirty. I wonder if this was Toriyama's last fuck you to Vegeta lol. He got tag-teamed by the Tamagami and that annoying Kraken. It's bizarre that the Kraken is that powerful. You'd think that Vegeta could blow it up from the inside and escape. We might possibly get some inside-the-body antics like in the Buu arc, or the most logical thing; have Goku use instantaneous movement to teleport Vegeta out of danger. Overall it's a pretty solid 7/10 episode for me.

They just always have to screw Vegeta huh? Thats what he is for it seems.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 11 - Official Discussion Thread
IIRC this is the first substory within Daima so far that's set up like an actual two-parter, given the cliffhanger at the end. That's not inherently better or worse than before, just interesting. Could be a sign of more structural changes to come as we start to approach the climax of the show.
Majin Duu really came out of nowhere. Still amused that people were just relentlessly shitting all over poor Kuu a couple of episodes ago only for these two goofballs to almost steal the show every time they pop up on screen. I love these idiots!
Tamagami #2 dryly telling Vegeta to go suckle on his mommy's teat damn near made me spit out my drink. I know I mention this every week, but the humor is so consistently and perfectly Toriyama that it feels like he never passed.
Piccolo not knowing Namekian is explainable by what he says right after when he mentions he's been on Earth for a long time. He last spoke it decades prior, so even in the worst case scenario, it's the only oversight and a pretty minor one at that. Trivial stuff like Goku not teleporting or constantly flying around makes sense when you think about it for more than two seconds; he and the others still haven't fully adjusted to their bodies, as was implied again just last episode. Just because Goku can do these things doesn't mean he can (or should!) use these things to the same capacity as a kid, especially when teleportation was already noted to be somewhat taxing in the original series. Another non-issue with very little bearing on the narrative.
I think I enjoyed 9 and 10 a bit more, but this was still a lot of fun. All bangers, no skips!

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 11 - Official Discussion Thread
Cliffhanger?! How dare.
(Just kidding).
Ah, preview resolves some of it.
Avenge him, Goku!
+Piccolo cutting through Neva's act.
+Goku and Vegeta arguing over who gets to fight next.
+Panzy underestimating Vegeta.
+/-Duu immediately going N'cha left me melancholy as it just reminded me that Toriyama's dead.
-Vegeta saying he's in a hurry (which he is) and then proceeding to not immediately go super saiyan 2 against the Tamagami.
-Not much meat here for me personally outside that cliffhanger.
This feels like how.

Even if you take that idiotic explanation of him being on Earth long enough to forget (Even though he spoke it perfectly fine on the 23rd TB), he still fused with Nail. He should know the language.Mr Baggins wrote: Fri Dec 20, 2024 7:20 pm Piccolo not knowing Namekian is explainable by what he says right after when he mentions he's been on Earth for a long time. Vegeta has not lost. That has not been defined yet. He is holding back on his transformation, we just need to wait.SHINOBI-03 wrote: Fri Dec 20, 2024 3:18 pm Majin Duu looks like an improvement over Kuu in both strength and design and still sane enough to reason with.
Poor Vegeta. First big fight and already lost to a random monster.
Don't forget flying long distance uses a lot of energy and in their current state they can't afford to waste it needlessly.tonysoprano300 wrote: Fri Dec 20, 2024 2:46 pm Once they established Goku can still use IT, and that he can fly easily…it just makes the plane stuff feel pretty pointless. Like Goku is intentionally handicapping himself for the fun of it(Like 17&18 in the Cell arc).
They keep bringing up the transportation logistics as if they mean anything when half these characters can fly, I guess this is a pretty lighthearted adventure thus far so its whatever. It just seems like a silly plot point now
I like the episode as much as any other. I feel the pacing and the music are fine. I am a consumer of this series til the end, that is for sure. I am getting served on each episode, in terms of fights, in terms on entertainment. The animation has lowered its quality a little bit but it is barely noticeable and I am ok with it as I am hooked enough with the story.
Nothing feels out of place or forced. They even corrected their mistake of making a lame majin buu pseudo clone by making a slightly less lame majin buu pseudo clone. I am ok with the name too. I like the dynamics of the "badies" here (kuu, the witch and supreme kai's sister), they are even better than mai, shu and pilaf) I find them to be exciting. And this new majin, is interesting. I can overlook the fact that Majin Buu was not originally fat, it was because of his fusion with the fat supreme kai. (I apologize if you find the word "fat" offensive. Please replace it with: Overweight ad beautiful in its own way"). My prediction is they will fuse, Majin Kuu and Duu. We could also see even more majins. Who knows.
I am satisfied with how things are going. I will keep watching it. Guys I also wanted to say please: Happy holidays! FELIZ NAVIDAD 2024! Let's be thankful for the things we have and what we achieved this year, I wish for your dreams to come true y VIVA MEXICO!

Another well directed episode. The art was great. Especially during Vegeta vs Tamagami 2 scenes

Hopefully Piccolo is just pretending that he can't speak Namekian because he doesn't trust Neva and wants to keep him close by. Otherwise, yeah, it makes no sense.

It's a legit plothole.
1. Nail specifically told Piccolo he wouldn't affect his personality much. We have no idea the degree to which his memory or language processing centers were ingrained in Piccolo, and even if we did know, that was also a long time ago. Languages are very much use it or lose it, particularly languages that aren't well consolidated in long-term memory.
2. I don't give a shit about "plotholes" this inconsequential and easily addressed, assuming it even qualifies as one. I implore y'all to not let the likes of CinemaSins and TvTropes reduce all analysis to this. It's a boring, incredibly pedestrian way to engage with any story.
Ask yourself more relevant questions instead. What role will Neva play? How will Piccolo and his dynamic with Neva impact the story? These are more interesting things to consider than minor trivia like whether Piccolo does or doesn't know the language of a planet he barely spent any time on.

Piccolo not remembering how to speak Namekian is likely just a stupid gag that Toriyama wanted to do and decided that it was worth ignoring the Twenty-Third Tenka-ichi Budoukai for.

It's a plot hole/inconsistency. Not one big enough to take me out of the story, but one worth pointing out.
Also, it does affect the story, because they need someone who speaks Namekian to make the wish.

If Neva didn't happen to show up here...
I'm sure Piccolo's ability to speak Namekian would've impacted the story, frankly I don't think anyone was considering that before now.
It's just a..."oh yeah, this is relevant" situation.

Re: Dragon Ball Daima: Episode 11 - Official Discussion Thread
I think it was likely just a half hearted excuse to bring Neva along, it feels as though Toriyama couldn’t think of a legitimate explanation and didn’t want to waste time coming up with one.
Mainly because Kami himself spoke Namekian in the 23rd world martial arts tournament and we know for a fact he was living on Earth since he was a kid. In fact, speaking Namekian was one of the two only things he actually remembered about Namek. With Kami obviously now being part of Piccolo…it just seems like a stretch.
I do wish there was a more compelling stated reason to bring Neva along but oh well, things are picking up and Neva is pretty cool

Considering Piccolo and Neva just left the implication of, "We Namekians can tell when the other is bullshitting."
I doubt Piccolo is pretending not to speak it.

To add to this, Piccolo speaking Namekian is from a brief moment in a completely unrelated story arc in a technically different series. This just isn't the kind of thing that's going to register in the minds of even the most casual viewers. Most people won't care at all.StaticMania wrote: Fri Dec 20, 2024 11:10 pm If Neva didn't happen to show up here...

For those that do care more about surface level plot or trivia, they can mention it was a reason to bring Neva along and a potential discrepancy with the original series. There's not much more to add than that, though, and I'd go as far as to say that none of it is actually compelling information.

I thought the episode was fun, I found myself thinking “I CANT FREAKIN WAIT!” after the NEP.
I don’t get the feeling that Vegeta is down for the count. He was caught off guard by the Kraken then smacked into it’s mouth! Let’s remember it took Goku jumping to SS2 to defeat Tami 3 which at this point is about half-ish if not a little more than half of his full power (that we know of) I think Vegeta is just briefly knocked out, not necessarily truly defeated, he’ll be back up to continue the fight. At least I hope, I mean they did bring up fighting one on one, so we could be looking at Goku gearing up to fight as well.
