Would you prefer to get a manga focusing on Gohan and his family over DBS?

I think the premise of the question is kinda faulty. There's no reason that Super couldn't turn into a story focusing on Gohan and his family. There's also no reason to pretend that this itself isn't simply an ask for a different type of nostalgia and fanservice pandering than what Super typically delivered (the same way there's no reason to pretend that Daima also wasn't simply a slightly different type of nostalgia and fanservice pandering).

That said, nah, not really. I don't care that much about Gohan, Videl, Mr. Boo, or Mr. Satan as characters. They kinda served their purposes in the story. Only, unlike Vegeta, they've had the good grace to become background/supporting characters. I think the time to bring Boo and Satan back into the fold would have been Daima (the show that's in part about exploring Boo's origins and homeland, and meeting his new siblings), perhaps with Vegeta and Bulma staying behind.

I wouldn't be opposed to Gohan getting more prominence in the fighting stories, though, especially if we wanted to finally move into the next generation of martial artists. I think he and Piccolo could serve as masters for Pan, alongside Goku being the master of Oob and Z, and Vegeta and Freeza being the masters of Kuriza. A cool three-way battle of martial arts schools, with rivalries between masters playing out vicariously via their students. Some real 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai type shit. A "secret identity, balancing two lives" type story with Gohan sounds really boring to me, though; if I wanted to read capeshit I'd go read capeshit.

No, Gohan is not cut for being the main hero. The only interesting trait about him is his potential and anger issues (but after Super Hero I'm sick of his asspulls). Other than that he's pretty boring as a character.

For me, the highlights of Super were all the lower-key, slice of life moments. I think the story really struggled when it tried to raise the stakes or build tension, and we can't help but compare it (unfavorable) to DBZ.

So, maybe? I don't think focusing on Gohan is especially interesting, but it'd have been great to see more of the supporting cast like Videl, Pilaf, Trunks and so on.

Gohan having to combine his crime-fighting alias with school priorities tops everything that "Super" gave us (mostly nostalgia baits, unbelievable power ups and needless hair &/ body recolors as "transformations").

I would rather see Gohan tries to study for a big test while being on a joint mission with the Galactic Patrol than having to see Frieza gets a new body color and more contradictory and needless reshaping of the lore [sic], any time.

I would prefer to spend a week watching roadkill decay in real time than ever take in another episode or chapter of Super again.

But that aside, a slice-of-life manga focusing on post-Z Gohan being a family man sounds like a lot of fun. But I don't trust anyone officially at the helm of modern DB to make it, so it feels like the type of thing that would be better off existing in fan-manga form. And probably already does.

Gohan is my favorite character, Videl is too and Pan from GT is as well. So good think I'd say yes but the answer is no because they just do not know how to write them. Videl lost all her cool traits and turned into a simple house wife when she got with Gohan. Gohan is no longer written with a purpose and just given the persona of nerdy guy who does stuff. Pan wouldn't be allowed to reach her full potential and will end up always crying for help.

Why would I want to watch a series like that.

I'm not invested in Gohan as a character. I'd like Super with less Gohan, if anything.

A series where Videl is cool and gets cool fights and animation along with cute scenes would be nice, though. Let Videl and Pan have some sort of relationship, there are next to no real scenes where moms get to actually relate to their kids in this series.
