Saw the first three in theatres, and have been patiently watching each week as the dub comes out. Unfortunately spoilers were very difficult to avoid across instagram and the web, but I’m still enjoying. It still feels whimsical and charming. The 13th episode was the only one that felt unnecessary filler, but I’ll take it if it means more time with the characters and world. I’m going to watch 14 tonight, and excited to see the many reveals in the final battles that have been spoiled thus far. The dub itself has been fine. Returning voices are nice, and the new ones for the familiar characters as kids are good enough. Just the delayed release is probably the most frustrating part of the show thus far. But still 6 weeks to go!

I noticed in one of the recent dub episodes Bulma said “Hoi Poi Capsules” for the first time ever in the dub.

It’s giving when the old Sailor Moon dub suddenly randomly started throwing out Japanese terminology instead of their own.

It makes sense to use Ki since the video games have been using them since 2002 and most dub fans have some vague understanding of ki as it pertains to Dragon Ball. It’s actually kind of embarrassing it took them this long. But forgetting they already localized Hoi Poi capsules as Dynocaps reeks of someone not bothering to check the Style Guide for Japense>English terms

I noticed that the English dub of episode 19 of Daima directly referenced the "further beyond" line from the FUNimation in-house dub of DBZ, instead of using the "one more bonus" line.

Sean Schemmel passed out 3 times while dubbing eps. 19-20 of Daima:

Because of screaming blocking oxygen getting to his brain? I wouldn't see another reason. Or it's just words.

I was kinda disappointed with how the SSJ4 transformation scene was executed not gonna lie. I'm not sure if there was a problem with the mixing, but it was all weirdly pieced up, especially during the last few screams. I hope there's a slight chance of fixing it in the Blu-Ray release.

Either he's exaggerating or he's doing something wrong, because other voice actors the same age or older than him have had nothing happen to them when making screams like that, even Masako at her 88 years old can do that kind of screams with no problem.

Yeah it was cool to hear that original line and I did get a nostalgia kick out of it, however I kind of don't like that we didn't get the one more bonus line as it was such a good line in Japanese.

The good thing is I bet we get one more bonus in the games at some point.

The line is basically a meme so not surprising. Frankly, it probably took them a lot of restraint to not replace the music track with Julius Dobos Super Saiyan 3 theme from the Z dub

Having finally caught up on everything tonight, you can bet your posterior that in terms of overall performance and direction this is easily the best dub since Kai. Everyone brought their A game and knocked it out of the fucking park.

Fitting, since (not counting individual films on a standalone basis) this is also the best animated Dragon Ball series period since Kai. Absolutely deserved.
