Re: "Dragon Ball Legends" Official Discussion Thread
Have tried the game again after a while, to rage quit. Hopefully, I hope that I will still be able to return to get the final 50 tickets on that anniversary summon, but it's starting to get pay to win quite hard.
With 6 years in the game with huge hiatuses in the recent ones, I have huge and competitive roster for PVP, but I get destroyed with gimmick ultra characters that are almost impossible to get, even if you pay for few extra CC rounds in discounts and tossing crystals on summons with legacy characters revamped by few new attacks and new art on the card is no fun at all, as the rest you pull from the summons are basic and old characters that you have maxed for years, so it is waste of money.
I hate these Japanese gatcha games, because it's the worst case of gambling there is. Even Power Rangers or Injustice and other western mobile games have the option, to pay for the content you want and even tho you can't get everything as they try to rotate the offers to create FOMO, I perceive it as quite OK.
I have spent around 17 000 CCs to get Ultra Instinct Goku, that gave me hard time on PVP (not to mention Golden Freeza) as you are clearly paired with people or bots that play these units to make you spend insane loads of money on gambling (I didn't, thank god, 90% of my CCs were through grinding) and I was lucky to strenghten like 3 newer Limited characters for a small bits, like at least one star, while getting just clutter. That's super frustrating, as that summon where you summon characters for those tickets you get from exchange shop for the challenge tokens give you pretty much the same results, sans the Ultra character.

Yeah, I was mainly in it for the story, but even that has become too difficult to make progress in. That and all of these mini games, 10,000 currency types, all these missions to get materials to upgrade your characters, it's like they expect you to spend the entire day playing it. It's overwhelming. Just booting it up after a while and having to go through a tutorial for all the stuff they added gives me anxiety.

God, so I have missed those tickets for 100 summons... not that I got super interesting stuff from step one, but it was nice to get.
I have missed the window it seems.
With basically everything covered I wonder about the Anniversary. I have noticed that get Gokus banner might at least satisfy one for a bit as there are some of the rare units and there are some giveaways already, but I guess that with how hard it is to get Ultras, which is the only interesting bit about the game for me, I will leave this game altogether.
The time spent on grinding various modes doesn't justify the gains anymore.

Story spoilers.
So boo survived and broly calmed down with paragus living too.
I guess Freeza escaped.
What was that wave at the end?
People are speculating it's paralysis or mind control.
Kinda interested to see.

Re: "Dragon Ball Legends" Official Discussion Thread
I've spent the last 2 months collecting Chrono Crystals for the 6th anniversary, and during this process, I've remembered to comment on some events:
The one with Young Nappa, I must have said before that it was completely dispensable because there are more interesting characters that Legends could introduce (like SSJ Gohan in Saiyaman outfit), but this event reminded me that it's a plot introduced in the middle of the "Cell arc" of this game's main storyline, which was so long ago, it made me wonder why we still don't have Hard Mode for other books in the main story? I understand that it must be laborious to elaborate new challenges for books that have several chapters, but it's been many years since the last one to have a Hard Mode.
Now, about the anni: it was obvious that this year's would also feature fusion characters. But this time I wasn't very lucky; I went in with 22k CCs but only spent the equivalent of one run on both banners, leaving with 15k CCs, and the only new character I got was GRN Broly: Fury. I'll keep trying to see if I can get more later.
Some of those new plots within the Tournament of Time that DBL uses to introduce new characters are cool, but they could let us test these new characters during the course of the challenges as It's good marketing to make people spend some money to get them.
Regarding that story: It's interesting that Goku and Vegeta, who fought against Broly, aren't yet strong enough to defeat Merged Zamasu alone (I had never thought about that), and seeing Gogeta and Vegetto together against a bunch of villains made it seem very Heroes-like to me lol
About the main story so far...

I understand your frustration with the current state of character availability in Dragon Ball Legends. The exclusivity and RNG elements can indeed be discouraging, especially when you invest so much time and resources without the desired outcome. However, I do believe that successful adaptations from non-animated formats to games are possible with the right collaboration between developers and writers.MCDaveG wrote: Thu Jun 29, 2023 6:54 am Basically, the rule is, what is not in animated form – series or movie – doesn't get adapted into games
For instance, The Witcher series is a fantastic example of this. Originally a series of novels, it was adapted into a highly successful video game franchise by CD Projekt Red. The key was the close collaboration between the game's developers and the original writer, which ensured that the rich lore and intricate character development were preserved and expanded upon in the games.
Another example is the Metro series, based on the novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky. The developers at 4A Games worked closely with the author to create a game that stayed true to the spirit of the books while providing an immersive gaming experience. This collaboration allowed for a seamless transition from a written format to an interactive one, capturing the essence of the source material.
A good example can also be found in online games here. You might think that no one plays them, but that’s far from the truth. In reality, a huge number of people are fans of these games, all because of the excellent teamwork that allowed for great adaptations. Successful online games often result from meticulous efforts in adapting source materials while ensuring engaging gameplay, leading to large and dedicated communities.
In the context of Dragon Ball, if there were a concerted effort to adapt the manga directly into the game, leveraging the strengths of both the original story and the gaming platform, it could lead to a more cohesive and satisfying experience for players. Ensuring that the game's narrative and character arcs are as engaging as the manga could attract fans and create a more dedicated player base.
In summary, while it may be challenging, successful adaptations from non-animated formats to games are achievable with strong collaboration between developers and the original creators. This approach can help maintain the integrity of the story and characters, potentially leading to a more rewarding experience for players.

Speaking of Legends, I just got a new phone that could run the game without overheating and started the story
Graphics aren't that bad, surprisingly better than Xenoverse's graphics which is funny because they're both dimps
I did some summons and got Beerus, Gogeta and Goku Black Sparkings

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure games do it no problemo, even switching actors inbetween media. I got more deep into this series later and found it really interesting, as I went for further seasons, bought some games and was suprised about loads of characters but missing animation, as the 3 last major arcs (third one started quite recently and ongoing) are manga only.j9m2q7t6 wrote: Wed Jun 19, 2024 9:02 amI understand your frustration with the current state of character availability in Dragon Ball Legends. Sure, JBA has quite interesting adaptation story to begin with, as it didn't become full fledged anime series besides few OAVs here and there, adapting just few bits, before David Production came in around 2010s.
That's when I started to watch the show, thinking that it's like crazy and over the top take on Fist Of The North Star.
I wonder what is the creative process behind that, to match various forms of media and represented it in a way, that it all fits together.
But in case of JoJo, All Star Battle came out when just the fist two arcs were adapted and Stardust Crusaders were in production, so pretty much 75 % of that game was not represented in animated form if they would base it on the recent show and disregard the small projects that came before, so it's the other way around in a sense

But still, would be nice to get some more extras. The only one I remember going from manga was Neko Majin in JP version of Budokai 2, with just Kuriza skin for Freeza and one themed stage, but it was big deal back in the day.

Re: "Dragon Ball Legends" Official Discussion Thread
It's been almost two months since my last post in this thread. I had mentioned before that out of the initial banners, I had only managed to get GRN Broly. However, I continued saving Chrono Crystals and took a chance spending on the banners featuring YLW Fusion Goku/Vegeta and BLU Potara Vegeta/Goku. Not only did I get those, but also RED Shin, PUR Ultimate Gohan, BLU Beerus, and others as well.
Now, the ULTRA Banner for PUR SSJ4 Gogeta appears. I've mentioned here before that I have terrible luck with obtaining ULTRA characters, but this time I had 20k CCs and a dream. On the first try, no luck; the second, no luck either; the third, even less. I was almost down to 10k when I decided to risk it a fourth time, and then came the awaited "Loading data..." which was longer than usual, and YES! This time YES! I finally got my first ULTRA character from a banner in this game, and I've been playing for 6 years without spending a dime on it. It was an immense joy. I was able to test him multiple times in battle, and he rarely disappointed, even making up for mistakes I made during PvP. He was also quite useful, along with all the other new characters that obviously had Battle Power Bonus in the new events.
I said the 5th anniversary was the best of all, until I experienced this 6th anniversary where I didn’t expect to get 100% of the new characters, including the ULTRA! Thank you, Legends!

Two more months went by, and fortunately, the game is still fun! ULTRA PUR SSJ4 Gogeta has saved my butt in a bunch of tough PvP fights. I also snagged GRN Omega Shenron and YLW Rage Shenron, which really boosted my GT team. Didn’t get much else and didn’t want to risk it too much on the new RED Broly banner. They dropped that new "God Challenge" mode, which I gotta say feels kinda boring—probably 'cause I haven’t played it much yet. And the usual recycled characters events are back with some like SSJ Goten, Bojack, and SSJ3 Goku. But it’s cool that Legends seems to be bringing in new characters; I was surprised by Rage Shenron, and Tullece Crusher Corps was unexpected. Unfortunately, I only got Amond in new LL Goku banner and ended up just losing CCs trying to pull for the new ULTRA BLU Tullece.

Spoilers I guess.
I like the power scaling despite using dumb anime transformations the god fusion versus blue kaioken goku but goku being stronger to start with.
Goku now remembers shallot after powering up, not sure if this is like ss3 making you not a kid but the super dbs or prototype should be above goku.
He also mentions it happening in the air. So it could be a technicality like they aren't on earth.
Goku doesn't seems to get memory wiped again. But the boys escape before that happens perhaps.
Interested to see what happens next

Re: "Dragon Ball Legends" Official Discussion Thread
Two more months have passed, and despite my success during DBL's 5th anniversary, that didn’t really carry over to the next banners lol. I totally failed (obviously) at getting the new ULTRAs: Tullece and Majin Vegeta, and the new SPs: Goku Black and Vegetto. Honestly, those last two are so overdone, enough of these characters already, for F's sake. A new Merged Zamasu would’ve made way more sense than another damn Goku Black. Anyway, I see a lot of complaints on Reddit about how this meta has been the worst of all, and honestly, it has been pretty annoying to play PvP battles with characters that not only excel at stalling but can also wipe your team out with endless combos after any mistake. But the thing is, power creep has always been a thing in this game, right? What can you do...
Well, I’m glad new Daima characters are being added, with the latest being SSJ Goku (mini) and Tamagami No. 3. But it’d be nice to have events related to this instead of those same old ones with recycled characters like SSJ Rage Trunks and Halo Vegeta

3 months since my last post in this thread, and I can say I’ve had an awesome run on the lastest banners: Right around Christmas, I got the new ULTRA Beast Gohan, which was a great addition to my Hybrids team. I’ve wrecked opponents in PvP thanks to him, totally insane. Right after, I got the new Future Trunks/Gohan duo. Sadly, I didn’t get the new Merged Zamasu, which would’ve been useful for my God Ki team, but I did manage to pull the new Android 17, which was a great addition to my Androids team. Didn’t really bother spending CCs on the new FP SSJ Goku and Super Trunks banner, and then finally, the new ULTRA Perfect Cell banner came up. I had 11k CCs and a bit of hope, and it paid off in the first row of that banner—unbelievable! I used to be super unlucky with ULTRA summons, but now it’s more 'balanced,' with SSJ4 Gogeta, Beast Gohan, and Perfect Cell in my roster.

I hate PVP in this game. And the new UI is cluttered and I have to reset it to go back in the menu tree.
I also only just realized that Giblet doesn’t have a tail and that’s bothering me more than it should. Why wouldn’t he have a tail? Did he lose it somehow??

Well now I feel foolish
Do we know when (or even if) the storyline will be continued? It’s had 17 chapters for forever.

Didn't Golden Freeza just finally die?
They shouldn't have much left to wrap up Broly seemed kinda done.
They should really only have Black and Zaha to deal with.

To tell the truth, I’m more worried about Zahha than Black. Black can’t think of anything Zamasu wouldn’t think of and that guy doesn’t know what’s going on any more than anyone else does.
We don’t even know what Zahha IS. He’s got pointed ears like a demon but an angel’s blue and white coloring, and he’s much more powerful then he presented himself as, even before he got the completed orb. And we still don’t know what he wants. He’s hinted at a hatred of the gods, but why and what he intends to do about it is still a mystery. He could have some very nasty surprises still waiting.
