You're a logical thinker; he's not. They guy makes decisions without consulting with any experts or even considering what it is he's trying to do. He probably gave his equally unintelligent team the order of putting tariffs on films, leaving it up to them to decide what that means exactly.

Trump yells more than anything. I don't think this will impact the anime industry.

He influences legislation that gets minorities stripped of their rights, their healthcare and their lives. Trump funds actice genocides and imperial expansion across the world. He might be an idiot, but he's still harming and killing people, and that needs to be called out.

Far right movements in Europe also got boost thanks to completely dumbass "refugees welcome" and open borders politics. Liberals and leftists didn't listen to people, and are clearly shocked why people want to vote for far right, who promise deportation.

Someone said, that illegal immigration at borders with Mexico did drop around 85%, and that's enough for some people.

The problem is not refugees and immigrants. That logic is what the Nazis used to normalize their fascism. It's propaganda meant to give the majority an 'other' that they can be distracted with hating. Leftists very much understand this and it's something that we need to continually push to better educate people on, but liberals (centrists) will always spite leftists to appeal to conservatives instead.

On the other hand, blaming refugees for any of your problems is genuinely crazy.

Still, it worked, people in Poland for example see refugees as either lazy bums or rapists and terrorists, especially if they are black and/or muslim (We did welcome several millions of Ukraine refuges after Putin invasion). Even current liberal and left government in Poland says "If we won't fight illegal immigration, in few years far right or far left is gonna get 80% in next election"

The right wing are now going after every minority, not just refugees, so that was never really the issue. It was just used as an excuse to go after everyone who wasn't white.

Yes, but again, it worked...but to be fair, mainstream media and politics did not good job debunking news like "Rapes during New Year were caused by refugees but media don't inform it because of political correctness" and more and more no-go zones in western Europe. I remember how people in Poland were absolutely livid when during first wave we would be punished by EU for not taking in refugees https://notesfrompoland.com/2021/08/18/ ... deputy-pm/

In short, far right raised to power for almost same reason it happens once in a while, because mainstream rest in their laurels and don't notice what they are doing is not popular among people. And when "brute with axe" come and say "Choose me, and I'm gonna snap fingers, and no refugees, no ecoterrorism with means no huge electricity bill" and people choose him. And media and politics calling people idiots who fall for populism does not help

Plus, and that's just my theory, no matter what era we live in, people are cowards afraid of unknown, people like Rod Serling in his Twilight Zone showed, that you just need to set proper stage, say few things, and all those "civilized" people turn into lynch mob...

I’ll just point out for the record that the far-right has lost a lot of momentum in other countries these past few months, which has been attributed to the Trump administration’s general incompetence and hostility against long-time allies.

Well that sucks.

I see by reading your posts how some people believe it applies only to real live action movies, but sadly, since Trump is a bussiness man, we can know for sure that the tariffs will be implemented for any work of intellectual property coming from a foreign country.

Now, that is what he wants. Reality and the world might have different goals. Diplomacy from Japan is expected but I am not sure if they even care... I mean dragon ball sells well worldwide and losing one country only would not mean the end of the world for TOEI.

Well, if it worths it, I live in Mexico and it is relatively close to USA, so I could use an international shipping service and send you guys Blurays of any DB Movie. Yes it would be the LATAM release, but most likely they will have English subtitles. I would ask you to pay for the shipping and the movie, but since it would be a domestic service, It would be considered a "gift" from one friend to another and therefore you would not have to pay tariffs for it, I mean no one would know it is a dragon ball movie what I am sending to you

I don't mind becoming a DB smuggler for my DB brothers. If you don't trust me enough, you could also go to Tijuana, you can get ANYTHING you want there, if you have the coins...

This Trump guy is really shaking the world, but now he is going too far, he is messing with anime. WITH DRAGON BALL!
