Do DB have any holiday-related apisodes?
Do DB have any holiday-related apisodes?
Since we just had an amazing 4th of July, I was thinking about other celebrations and how we basically never seem to see them in. Of course, I don't expect them to have a 4th of July episode, but even world wide holidays like Christmas aren't really seen in the anime.
(I do know that there is a drawing of the crew in Christmas gear, dressed as Santas. I believe it was a drawing for Jump)
I know Christmas is a bit different in Japan, but if it's popular enough for Toriyama to draw the cast in Christmas gear, an episode couldn't hurt either.
I feel we didn't even get a birthday episode until DB Super. With so many filler and slice of life episodes between DB, Z and GT, you would think we get at least one Christmas or birthday related episode, but as far as I can recall we get zip. Anybody have any idea why those common, character-building episodes haven't really been featured?
Edit: Of course I meant Episodes

If I remember correctly, Goku's battle with Freeza took place on Namek and there was a panel dedicated to it.

Aside you mentioning Super's birthday episode for Bulma there's
- “Looking Back at It All: The Dragon Ball Z Year‑End Show!” - a New Year’s Eve TV special that aired on Fuji TV on December 31, 1993. It's sort of lost media though.
- “Dragon Ball Z: Summer Vacation Special” - a TV special that aired on August 3, 1992.
- “Goku's Traffic Safety” - not directly tied to a traditional holiday, but it has a festive, PSA tone.
- “Goku's Fire Brigade” - festive and educational, but not holiday-specific.
- Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn - loosely ties into Halloween themes, e.g. the ghoulish/zombie army that Goten and Trunks have to fight.
- GT episodes 41 and 64 - both depict a fun celebratory vibe, but neither tie to a calendar holiday.

It came out in March, so probably not the intention of Toei to make a Halloween moviePrinceVegetto wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 10:19 am

Granted, I believe it wasn’t his actual birthday Chi Chi just basically said “Well you guys spent a year in the Room of Spirit and Time so TECHNICALLY he had his 11th birthday at some point yesterday let’s celebrate” but there was a birthday cake and everything so still a birthday episode.

Kicking the ass of an evil space tyrant sounds like one of the coolest ways to celebrate Christmas.Kid Buu wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 7:27 am If I remember correctly, Goku's battle with Freeza took place on Namek and there was a panel dedicated to it.
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years

Good call. Those pre-Cell game episodes always are a blur to me. I know Taopaipai returns for a bit and then there's this episode.MasenkoHA wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 11:36 amYep
