Don't worry man, OG SSJ4 still exists. Nothing good will come out of hating Daima to a comical degree, you can't will it out of existence, the same way Daima can't will GT or the og SSJ4 out of existance so just make peace with it

One "fake" form I would still like to see in a game is the fake SSJ form from the Lord Slug movie, which to me looked better than the real one.

The interesting thing about SSJ4 is that dataminers found adult SSJ4 Goku voice lines in the game suggesting he would be playable in some form. I believe the rumor was that he was gonna be an install for Kid Goku, like Golden Freeza was.

With SSJ4 Daima being the only Daima character though, I wonder id they'll have a unique dramatic finish with him and GT Goku, like how SSJ4 Gogeta and Gogeta Blue had.

Regarding this form though, it's just another example of how creatively empty Toriyama was at the end of his life, where he substituted good hero designs for recolors (SSJ God, SSJ Blue, Daima SSJ4, Vegetto Blue, Gogeta Blue, Golden, Freeza, Ultra Instinct Goku, Fake Broly Kale etc). Heck, he even gave non-powered up characters recolors, such as Bulma and non-SSJ Future Trunks, who apparently got hold of hair dye in his timeline.

DBFZ characters already have big hands so I wonder how different this Goku will look. I imagine this version of the character might get a few normals from GT since the form's appearance is relatively short in the new show and they could always just have the original as the color 2.

I don't like Daima or SSJ4 in general but it is good to see more support for this game like the upcoming balance especially after the rumor of burned bridges. Hopefully there can be a sequel eventually.

This is out of nowhere.
Unfortunately it doesn't do much to re-ignite my interest in the game.

They can't decide if the game is done or not. If the balance patch doesn't turn back the design from before most characters having fullscreen normals, I won't even bother.

As for the new character, I assume it will include a moveset from Goku of the entirely of Daima, since otherwise it doesn't have much.

SSJ4 sucks but at least the Daima version is the better one of the two. If they have to shove one of them in videogames and have to make I choice I prefer the superior Daima design.

For my two cents, I don’t particularly care for the Daima Super Saiyan 4. The red hair and red eyes are too reminiscent of Super Saiyan God and the form has too much red in general. If nothing else, I do like how his forearms look more ape-like.

I was excited at first, but then I remembered Arc System didn't really work on the last few patches, it was Bandai, and now I'm scared lol.

I doubt Bandai did anything about the balance of the game. They aren't the developers.

Probably what happened is that they cut down the support significantly.
Perhaps with the hype of Marvel they decided to throw some cash for a new character and a balance update now made by an intern.

I mean, yeah. I've seen you go out of your way to be annoyed at transphobia even when it doesn't belong in these threads whatsoever.

As for Daima, I haven't seen in full yet, but from what I have seen of it, it far from sucks. It's not GT or half the 90s Z movies.

Calling it "fake SS4" is very comical when literally you're only doing it because you hate Daima. Looking at the Daima take on the form, it's just as valid as the one from GT. And calling it "fake" doesn't suddenly make it disappear or devalue it in any way, nor does it really give any more value to the GT version. The same way that the Daima version existing doesn't devalue the GT version. Most people say that their favorite part of GT is SS4 (me included), as it's a truly inspired form. There's a reason that it's the most consistently-referenced thing from GT in the video games. There's also a reason they brought it back in Daima. They wanted to give GT fans something with Daima & remixed ideas from it in Daima. Whether they did well by GT fans is a different subject entirely, but that's what they did.

In my opinion, calling GT "actually good Dragon Ball" is hilarious. While it had some good things going for it & some great ideas, shit execution stopped a lot of what they tried to do from being good. From the writers themselves quickly realizing the stuff they initially wanted to do weren't working & pivoting to the Baby stuff, to ripping off both Toriyama's material & even 1 of the Z movies, to uninspired choreography, to anticlimactic or bad arc endings, & the only real saving grace of the last arc being the ending, I really can't call GT "good." Whether you wanna argue the original Japanese dub is a better presentation than the FUNimation dub, or that every DVD release has a horrible red tint, or whatever, the show honestly just sucks overall. Yes, the last few arcs of the manga & Z had cracks forming & the Buu arc went on too long because Toriyama couldn't just pick how he wanted to end it, but at the very least there wasn't a ton of repetition from the previous arcs & what bits there were were used in new ways that weren't derivative.

Bardock, I can give you. Everyone agrees that the Minus version was a needless retcon that leaves everyone wanting something more. Broly, no. The Super version of him is much better than the original version of him, no contest. I'm sorry, but I can't understand how anyone could find a guy who only exists to be an overpowered Super Saiyan motivated by the crying of another baby making him also cry while he was a baby & being mocked by grown Saiyans for it that he somehow remembers despite being a few days or so old compelling. And, no, I don't buy the interpretation that some fans have bullshitted in the last few years. That interpretation is something that the film itself doesn't actually present as a way the writers & animators to interpret for it no matter how you slice it, which is why it took over 25 years for people to think they've found a way to interpret the character that way. And the sequels only serve to remove whatever made Broly good in the first place by dumbing him down to just a scary movie monster rather than an actual character. The rebooted Super version of Broly is a much better character because they actually give him a personality & make him a tragic character you end up sympathizing with.

I don't know if anyone has actually said that Super's the only sequel, more that it's the only sequel that actually matters because it's actually from Toriyama. GT is still hotly contested to this day & definitely was even more so at the time Battle of Gods came out. It just has more of classic DB's DNA in it & actually establishes new stuff in it that isn't derivative of previous stuff (The Freeza & Trunks stuff, I don't consider derivative because there's more new stuff introduced in them to set them apart from the previous material they were in). Sure, not all of it was good, but there's more good in there than bad & I'll always contend that. Super gets way too much hate from the people who hate it, tbh. Daima, though, has to be in an alternate timeline from Super. There's just way too many discontinuities between them. I have no idea how anyone working on it was planning to try to square it away with Super's timeline, but they're too disconnected to properly do that with in a believable way.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

I really enjoyed playing as Super Broli and Gogeta, so I'm looking forward to playing as Daima 4kuu. I bet the animation for his Kamehame-Ha is going to be sick as hell, if the anime version is anything to go by. I'm curious if they'll try to squeeze anymore characters in before spring? It feels like introducing new characters in pairs makes showing them off a bit easier, because then you can just recreate scenes from the cartoon in the promotional videos?

It's still SO weird to me that we're getting a new character for this game three years after the last DLC character. Girls, this game is SEVEN AND HALF YEARS OLD!! lol

This will be a perfect excuse to stop replaying Final Fantasy VII Rebirth over-and-over, too lol

Well the meta reason for that title should be obvious. But it fits in-universe too, since the genuine article from GT is gained (relatively) naturally by the Golden Ape process, while the Daima version was just zapped into existence by magic. It's kind of like False SS1 from Z Movie 4, or something.
funrush wrote: Sat Oct 11, 2025 1:47 pm There's almost something comedic in how much you hate the Daima version of it.
Yeah I guess. Especially considering the "hate the form itself but still kinda glad it exists" conundrum I already described.

Doesn't mean it's undeserved though.
I got the impression Daima!Goku had been training towards SS4, he mentions he wasn't sure if he'd be able to do it which to me says he knew OF the form if not outright transformed into it already offscreen between Buu arc and Daima. So to us as viewers it does just all of a sudden happen but in the story it seems pretty similar to SS3, a transformation he was working on during a timeskip. I get where you're coming from though. And yeah I never thought about it like that before but Daima does kind of "legitimize" GT in a way if they treat it as being in a separate continuity from Super going forward. Which I figure they will, the Kibitokai thing would be a big plothole you can't explain around and Toyble says it's a choose-your-own-canon. So with Daima on its own we have 3 separate and valid timelines. Not to make this thread devolve into yet another discussion about canon.

It would be super cool if they put that form in a game! Maybe in Sparking Zero someday.

As for Bulma and Future Trunks in Super, it's a weird thing. Cause in the manga volume covers, Bulma's hair is purple. But in the anime, it was blue. So when it came time to do Future Trunks in the anime, he's got the correct purple hair, but Bulma still has blue hair. So in Super's anime it seems like possibly they were trying to correct the discrepancy by making Trunks and Bulma both have blue hair, but Kid Trunks still has purple hair, and now you're contradicting the old anime, so what's the point? Maybe it was some sort of weird futureproofing, so that if they do another arc where Future Trunks appears and Kid Trunks is no longer a kid and they're fighting alongside each other, you can tell which Trunks is which.

Assuming this is just a one-off DLC, I’m guessing the reason they’re doing it is so the game can have some version of SS4 Goku on the roster. It’s a pretty random inclusion otherwise.

It could be to gauge interest in more DLC, if this one sells well maybe more will come out?

Beast Gohan, Orange Piccolo, Raditz, Super 17 and Omega Shenron are my picks for a new Character Pass

Those are good picks.
I think a kid Gohan could be interesting as well, when they could give him some kind of rage mechanic.

Moves having less recovery, going further, easier ToDs etc...

The game is very different from the first three seasons. The balance philosophy is completely different.

Characters that aren't in the game yet, but are popular enough to justify;

-Beast Gohan
-Majin Vegeta
-Super Buu with absorption ability
-Dabura
-Pikkon
-Super 17
-Omega Shenron

It's great to see the game making a comeback.

I also prefer GT SS4 Goku, and was disappointed he wasn't an install back when GT Goku dropped in Season 2. But the Daima version is still cool, and makes more sense from a marketing standpoint.
