Gloria Rocha, also known as La Madrina, legendary dub director who directed the Latin American Spanish dub for the franchise from Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball GT, as well as the four DB movies, the 13 Z movies, and TV specials, has passed away at the age of 94.

This is an absolute dead serious tragedy. I know she was controversial but most of the quality and the more popular and accepted casting has on her. She directed the show with an eye for quality that was amazing to behold. RIP Gloria Rocha.

I feel a simple thank you is not enough to express my gratitude for this woman's work.

She had this distinct method of voice direction that gave us, the Latin American fandom of Dragon Ball, the epic and memorable performances that have been stuck in our hearts and minds since our childhoods.

She also gave many voice actors and actresses a chance to work on the dubs of well known anime series besides Dragon Ball like Digimon and Sailor Moon, and to this day, they are still grateful to her for that chance.

Madrinita querida, espero que te reencuentres con tu hermano Abel y que tu legado en el mundo del doblaje sea eterno.
(Dear godmother, I hope you meet with your brother Abel again and may your legacy in the world of dubbing be eternal.)
A little too late but yeah, I've been officially active in Kanzenshuu for ten years :)

She truly made history by choosing all these iconic voices for Dragon Ball.

May her soul rest in peace.

RIP, i remember reading how close Latin American Spanish dub was to original Japanese, and how disappointed people were, when Kai was announced, and not only everyone was recasted, but it was translated from English dub https://www.kanzenshuu.com/2010/09/05/s ... -ball-kai/

RIP to one of the greats who made Dragon Ball what it was in Latin America, that is an anime, which can be just as big, if not bigger with accurate dubs.

94 is an incredible age to live to. Hope Gloria Rocha had a long and joyful one.
