Your favorite anime, Dragon Ball Super, is also getting a (kind of) remake later this year. I'm so happy for you.
Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements
Really? That's amazing if true. Also, is Crunchyroll going to redub this remaster like with Kai? Is Japan redubbing it?PhantomSaiyan wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:31 am They said Goku will be more serious so super michael will finally be happy
Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements
Remaster seems more accurate than remaking. They’re just giving it the Kai treatment
Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements
Only BoG/RoF or ALL of Super?
Re: Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri 2026 on january 25th will have Dragon Ball announcements
Remake of... Specifically Battle of Gods?? The arc that already has a beautifully done movie?
But they show SS3 Goku fighting Beerus on King Kai's planet and not SS4 Goku, so I'm like what's the point?
Iyoku right now saying they redid all the cuts. An "ENHANCED edition" per Iyoku. Also there is a certain story aspect that was left out of the original version but will be included this time. Interesting...
So instead of the current convoluted watch order of "Watch Battle of Gods, then Resurrection F, then the rest of Super, then Broly movie, then Super Hero" or just "Watch Dragon Ball Super, then Broly movie, then Super Hero" we may be working toward the slightly more convoluted "Watch DBS Beerus, DBS Golden Freeza, DBS U6, DBS Goku Black, DBS Tournament of Power, DBS Broly, DBS Galactic Patrol, DBS Granolah, DBS Super Hero, etc."
Or is this supposed to be like a one off? Like how there's those One Piece OVAs like "Episode of Skypeia" or whatnot.
If it is a remake of the full series I'm curious to see what they do with the later arcs, especially Tournament of Power. We didn't need to spend like 10 episodes on Goku going to each fighter and saying "Will you join the tournament?" I have a feeling that arc can be trimmed down to something which is surprisingly short.
Either way I will watch and hopefully there are some cool fight scenes to come out of it. I'm interested to see what the new story element is.

Is it important to get fans caught up? On a series that most people started at the halfway point? I guess the target audience for this might be "People who watched Dragon Ball Z but never saw Dragon Ball Super" but in that case are we going to redo all of it and then the original will be discarded?PhantomSaiyan wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:22 amIt makes sense.
Old Super looks like shit at the start. And they want new fans caught up before Super 2 comes back. It makes sense commercially to do this.

Nope. Thank fuck. We don't need a 3rd.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

Would there be a point in a redub? I feel like the only reason Kai was redubbed in Japan is because Toei wanted it in stereo and that wasn’t an option with Z. Seems totally unnecessary for Super Kai.mecha3000 wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:35 amReally? That's amazing if true. Also, is Crunchyroll going to redub this remaster like with Kai? Toei just remembered that they have the keys to Dragon Ball
It was only a matter of time. It makes sense to revisit those old arcs and do them justice. Although I'm a little apprehensive about the possibility of a remake of Fukkatso no F.

All of it, starting with 6 episodes for BOG and 6 for RF.

The first thing you said, I think they def want to rebrand Super, and make a "Super: arc name" for each arc, it would be weird if it was just a one offfunrush wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:36 am

Why do you say remaster instead of remake? It looks like they are reanimating it? I didn't see if they're keeping the old voices or not but if it's all new animation then that's a remake, no?The Dark Knight wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:40 amAll of it, starting with 6 episodes for BOG and 6 for RF.

I never thought I would say this, but I'm actually hyped and optimistic about Super, a show that I have thought for the longest time was more often than not wasted potential. Iyoko and everyone involved delivered far better than I thought they ever could. DRAGON BALL IS BACK!!!.

I suppose they will record new voices for any new scenes that will be added to this remaster.MasenkoHA wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:38 amWould there be a point in a redub? In Kai's case, everything had to be re-recorded because Toei had long since thrown away the multitrack voice recordings and couldn't use the already mixed audio from Z.

Most of it will be retraced and re-framed, so it's not a ground up remake. With that said, there will be some new scenes here and there. It's basically Kai on steroids.funrush wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:43 amWhy do you say remaster instead of remake? It looks like they are reanimating it? Mistarefusion gets to review a FOURTH version of Battle of Gods.
Super is finally being treated with the respect that a sequel for Dragon Ball deserves. No more jumping back and fourth from movies, anime, and manga, we are finally getting one consistent version from start to finish.

I can imagione this Battle of Gods remake on par with the One Piece Fishman Island arc where the animation got touched up and cut to be more lean.

They are not reanimating it at all, it's an enhanced edition of the old tv show, like what Toei did with Fishman Island.funrush wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 12:43 am Why do you say remaster instead of remake? The shots and angles are 1 to 1 with the Super ones, just better drawn. It's like a DB Super KAI.
