Better than making a duplicate thread

No worse than reviving the Saiya-jin Symbol lol
Don't really think it's unnecessary since the dragon boxes are still relevant. I coulda posted in the color correction thread but that would be slightly off topic since that thread is mostly about removing the red cast.
That would explain the difference in color on the TV kei.

Did anyone scan those images to check the black and white levels? The darker level shots that you guys think looks better is probably 0-255 rgb.

Yes yes yes, VegettoEX, I know this is a MEGA necropost, but I felt the need to bump this thread back up in light of recent fan works coming into completion. This is what got the whole ball rolling!
Boy the insistence that those pink skin tones were correct was hilarious
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

A 12-year topic revival might be a record here. But a fine reason for garthering those Dragon Balls lol

I agree. lol. And the green skies being "natural" and "correct". I remember Seed of Might really roasting the Kanzenshuu image showing the colors of the different releases, the one where they used that shot of Goku from Episode 3 I think. Hell.. when I got my Dragon Boxes I was blown away but.. I mean when you have the muddy singles and shitty orange bricks they do feel perfect in comparison so I get why they were held in such high regard for so long.

It's sad that we live in a world/society, where fan does a better restoration job than major studio.
You would think one of the most important and influential anime ever exists, would have already gotten a proper restoration.
Toei is being Toei; they just don't care.

Oh they do care: about money. If they release a perfect product, how will they milk the fans for years down the road? It's like... Over these past few decades companies have realized withholding compete, perfect products to maximize profits. Like... Everyone's anti consumer. Whether it's intentionally shitty home releases, shitty dlc practices in games, or Hasbro releasing a new, more expensive "slightly more g1 sunbow accurate Optimus prime", or bandai releasing a new figuarts with some baffling design decisions, everyone's just so goddamn greedy.

When you have shit for so long done so incompetently by a company that doesn't do that shit for a living, something done even semi-competently will be seen as a godsend. And, the only things bad about the DBox masters
are the warped colors & wobbly picture in scenes where that wasn't the intent (which Seed of Might didn't even bother to fix, sadly). If Toei just took their scans of the film from 2003, cleaned them up, color corrected the shots, & properly upscaled them to HD, they'd have the perfect release.

Wow, here's a thread I never expected to see again! I wouldn't say I feel old, but oh man, seeing how I used to talk online at a young age was a flashback
Major props to Seed of Might for all their work. At the end of the day, it's all going to be subjective, but in my eyes they did a bang-up job.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Unless you're 1 of those stubborn fans who genuinely think either the warped DBox colors or the FUNimation release colors are the correct ones for Z, Seed of Might's color correction IS the most accurate we'll get of this series, at least for now. Unless Toei wants to get remasters of OG DB, Z, & GT done to go with their remasters of the movies & specials, outside of Kai, this is the best we're gonna get of unaltered Z, same with the other 2 series, though knowing Toei, they'd have a consistent fetish for the green tint from not learning to set the white balance correctly on the episodes considering how they remastered the Buu Arc for Kai & the first 17 movies & the 2 Z specials, as well as the last 2 Super movies. I'd still appreciate the attempt, though, as I don't expect Crunchyroll to continue trying to remaster the series like FUNimation kept doing to poorer & poorer results.

Kind of given up and am just happy with what I have, to be honest. No one has still yet to fix the NEP/Credits order, which I find odd. That said, their color correction does look pretty good and the way they fixed the bleached episodes are amazing (at least based on what I saw in some screencaps)

Let's face it: we are NEVER going to get perfect release by Toei.
Dragon Box is the closest, even though the remastering is outdated in today's standard.
...because Toei is Toei.
lol XD

Since the SoM thread was locked... I'll post this here. I'm... curious about this discrepancy.
Episode 31:

Episode 32 recap:
I... guess the recap version is more accurate since for the rest of the fight the sky remains greenish like the Dragon Boxes, but in 31 even during the dusk portion, the sky was being consistently corrected to the same strong blue from earlier in the fight.

I know that this isn't a toy thread, but that comment about sh figuarts is spot on (especially the Dragon Ball line). I've just finished selling off the last of mine.
We need a Steve Simmons' re-translation of the manga.
