Shit! This is GREAT! Basically the best English DBZ experience since I don't think Kienzan's Z Recut's dub option is gonna use any Kai audio (could be wrong).

Thanks mate! And I can see where you're coming from with the title cards. Basically, the challenge would be creating great high quality recreations of DBZ's Japanese style of Title Card with Kanji for all 167 episodes. That's not something I can devote a lot of time to doing and I don't want to just reuse DBZ's title cards as I want them to be named after the Kai episodes themselves. If down the line, someone can receate the old style of title card but with nicely drawn kanji that matches the episode title, I would definitely pop it in a version 2, but for the meantime, I decided to go with my personal preference of English title card which is the Orange Brick style font.jjgp1112 wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 7:15 am You fucking madlads actually did it!!!! If I had one quibble, it's the title cards; but that's probably tough to get around.

It's pretty unlikely because of micro cuts and lip flap changes actually occurring during dialogue.Metalwario64 wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 2:11 pm Shit! This is GREAT! If there's a version with the Kai dub down the line (much further down), it'll be a separate project with the video being dictated to by the audio rather than the other way around, and it'll still be a hybrid dub due to some cannon scenes that were cut from Kai

This is absolutely phenomenal.
It’s funny how wanting the best viewing experience with your partner can lead to such an amazing effort. I’ve been searching for something exactly like this for my wife, since I wanted her first watch of DBZ to be the best possible version. We just finished watching the Ocean Cut of Naruto together, and ever since then I’ve been actively seeking fan efforts that trim filler and keep things accessible in English dub so she can enjoy these big series without fatigue or confusion (and English dubs work especially well for her while eating or multi-tasking, since she can follow everything without worrying about missing dialogue because she didn't read the subtitles fast enough lol)
The most I could do on my own was edit out the spoiler-heavy transitions and previews, and use the Faulconer audio for Kai that Diccolo-420 kindly provided. I grew up with the English dub and the US soundtrack, so I really wanted her to experience it that way. Despite Kai’s imperfections, I think the dub is a huge improvement (even if I personally miss a few lines that were replaced and Stephanie Nadolny’s performance).
But this project — with all of that in mind, plus SOM’s CC, and removing those awful redrawn frames — is exactly what I dreamed of. Thank you so much for putting this together. I’m eagerly awaiting its completion, and I’m certain this will be the version I share with friends who are watching for the first time or revisiting the series. If you ever ponder if this effort is worth it or appreciated, just know you are doing exactly what at least one fan out there dreamed of.
If you ever need assistance with closed captions (or "dubtitles") for the English dub, please feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help.
Thanks again!

The Ocean Cut is a pretty horrible project for Naruto. I'd suggest NaruCannon instead.morenoje wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 3:54 pm This is absolutely phenomenal.

What I can tell you currently is I have every episode done up until EP62 (except for EP39, still waiting for the Dragon Box Kai crew to finalise that one)
If you and your wife are up to starting Namek, I can upload the completed episodes I have onto the Archive.org page. So please let me know and also, as I haven't had the time to watch through the full episodes I export, if you notice any errors or mistakes, let me know and I'll get them sorted.
And as for the dubtitles, are you referring to the original dialogue from the ocean dub subtitles? Just clarifying as I have English subtitles available for the final versions of episodes currently being released, only it's the english dub of the Kai Japanese dialogue. I'd love to chat further to fully understand what you meant
Thanks so much again! I look forward to sharing more of and eventually completing this project, and it's words like yours that make this an awesome experience! <3

Hey Everyone!
Apologies for the delay but I'm happy to announce that the Kai Z-Cut has now reached the Frieza Saga! (Except for EP39, still on the way)
If you go over to the Archive.org page, you'll find episodes 19 to 54 (except EP39) are now available in their final version, with all of the new changes including the Colour Corrected Z footage from Seed of Might, Z's Opening, Title Card, Eyecatches and Ending, and audio tracks for English + Kikuchi, English + Faulconer and Japanese + English Subtitles.
As mentioned at the top, Episode 39 is still on the way as I'm currently waiting for the Dragon Box Kai crew to release Kai EP39 with the SOM footage but it should be up very soon! For now though, you can watch the Version 1 of EP39 that's already up.
As for the Cell Saga, it's basically done! Just need a few more things to touch up but once EP39 is ready to be uploaded, so will EP55 to EP98. Work on Buu Saga is underway so it won't be long until the complete Z-Cut is available.
Thanks so much to everyone checking out the project and supporting/sharing, it means the world to me and I can't wait to hear what more people think.
Happy watching!

Where is the Dragon Box Kai stuff even being uploaded if you don't mind me asking? Might be a dumb question.

Well I've had the time to give a bit of a watch, I assumed it was my player at first but I noticed random frame skipping and jittering. One big example was in episode 49 at around 18:38, the close up of Goku's eyes panning has some real bad skipping for the first couple of seconds and I've noticed it on and off throughout but I just don't have the time to do thorough spot checking.
Dunno if it's on your end or the Dragon Box Kai project's end, nor what's causing it.

Thanks for spotting! There are some errors from the Dragon Box Kai crew that sneak in and I try to catch them as much as I can but I don't have the time to sit through each episode and focus in on any small errors or single frames that are left in so I really appreciate you pointing that out, I've fixed that up and will re-uploadMetalwario64 wrote: Sat May 02, 2026 10:26 pm Well I've had the time to give a bit of a watch, I assumed it was my player at first but I noticed random frame skipping and jittering. Damn that's appreciated but I worried that was the case, lol. I guess I hope once they finish the sync they go back through to iron out any bugs like this.
Happens here in episode 50 as well:
Of course not saying you need to go out of your way to fix it, I'm sure I've seen a dozen of moments of frame drops like this so I guess we just gotta wait for the Dragon Box Kai team to fix it.

This looks incredible. I wonder if anyone would do a "2.0" of this when the Neo-Raws Upscale is done.

Thanks so much! And potentially for Neo Raws, basically since I'm utilising the Dragon Box Kai Team's Kai Sync to the Z Seed of Might footage, it's up to them whether they decide to re release their work with Neo Raws Upscale. If they do, all I have to do is replace the video tracks in my edit files and re-upload every episode. If they decide to do that, I would absolutely look at the prospect of making a V2 myselfAveryADiaz wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 9:06 pm This looks incredible.
