Shit! This is GREAT! Basically the best English DBZ experience since I don't think Kienzan's Z Recut's dub option is gonna use any Kai audio (could be wrong).

Thanks mate! And I can see where you're coming from with the title cards. Basically, the challenge would be creating great high quality recreations of DBZ's Japanese style of Title Card with Kanji for all 167 episodes. That's not something I can devote a lot of time to doing and I don't want to just reuse DBZ's title cards as I want them to be named after the Kai episodes themselves. If down the line, someone can receate the old style of title card but with nicely drawn kanji that matches the episode title, I would definitely pop it in a version 2, but for the meantime, I decided to go with my personal preference of English title card which is the Orange Brick style font.jjgp1112 wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 7:15 am You fucking madlads actually did it!!!! If I had one quibble, it's the title cards; but that's probably tough to get around.

It's pretty unlikely because of micro cuts and lip flap changes actually occurring during dialogue.Metalwario64 wrote: Thu Feb 26, 2026 2:11 pm Shit! This is GREAT! If there's a version with the Kai dub down the line (much further down), it'll be a separate project with the video being dictated to by the audio rather than the other way around, and it'll still be a hybrid dub due to some cannon scenes that were cut from Kai

This is absolutely phenomenal.
It’s funny how wanting the best viewing experience with your partner can lead to such an amazing effort. I’ve been searching for something exactly like this for my wife, since I wanted her first watch of DBZ to be the best possible version. We just finished watching the Ocean Cut of Naruto together, and ever since then I’ve been actively seeking fan efforts that trim filler and keep things accessible in English dub so she can enjoy these big series without fatigue or confusion (and English dubs work especially well for her while eating or multi-tasking, since she can follow everything without worrying about missing dialogue because she didn't read the subtitles fast enough lol)
The most I could do on my own was edit out the spoiler-heavy transitions and previews, and use the Faulconer audio for Kai that Diccolo-420 kindly provided. I grew up with the English dub and the US soundtrack, so I really wanted her to experience it that way. Despite Kai’s imperfections, I think the dub is a huge improvement (even if I personally miss a few lines that were replaced and Stephanie Nadolny’s performance).
But this project — with all of that in mind, plus SOM’s CC, and removing those awful redrawn frames — is exactly what I dreamed of. Thank you so much for putting this together. I’m eagerly awaiting its completion, and I’m certain this will be the version I share with friends who are watching for the first time or revisiting the series. If you ever ponder if this effort is worth it or appreciated, just know you are doing exactly what at least one fan out there dreamed of.
If you ever need assistance with closed captions (or "dubtitles") for the English dub, please feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help.
Thanks again!

The Ocean Cut is a pretty horrible project for Naruto. I'd suggest NaruCannon instead.morenoje wrote: Mon Mar 30, 2026 3:54 pm This is absolutely phenomenal.

What I can tell you currently is I have every episode done up until EP62 (except for EP39, still waiting for the Dragon Box Kai crew to finalise that one)
If you and your wife are up to starting Namek, I can upload the completed episodes I have onto the Archive.org page. So please let me know and also, as I haven't had the time to watch through the full episodes I export, if you notice any errors or mistakes, let me know and I'll get them sorted.
And as for the dubtitles, are you referring to the original dialogue from the ocean dub subtitles? Just clarifying as I have English subtitles available for the final versions of episodes currently being released, only it's the english dub of the Kai Japanese dialogue. I'd love to chat further to fully understand what you meant
Thanks so much again! I look forward to sharing more of and eventually completing this project, and it's words like yours that make this an awesome experience! <3
