How Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods would have been 13 years ago

I was going on Google and to see when Yûsuke Watanabe and Toei started developing the original draft for Battle of Gods pre-Toriyama involved, and it said that it got started in 2011.

And I was like wait, 2026 marks 15 years since production of BoG started.

For those who don’t know, the original draft for BoG going to be different:

Beerus was going to be a lizard who infects people with evil and who was the one who made the Saiyan race ruthless.

The story was going to be Krillin and Android 18’s wedding, and reportedly would been set either the Cell or Buu Saga.

Goku’s Super Saiyan God form according to Yamamuro Tadayoshi was described as a muscular, caped warrior with hair that was a mix of Super Saiyan 3 and 4.

The story was reportedly "pretty dark" and focused more on a standard hero-vs-villain conflict.

At some point, Torishima Kazuhiko showed Toriyama the draft, he only check over the scenario, but ended up getting involved after the Tohoku Earthquake.

So I want to know, how would you feel about how Battle of Gods would had originally been 14 years if Torishima didn’t showed Toriyama Watanabe draft?

Well, I was using the AI mode on the site (not Google Gemini), and it said the draft started in 2011, however it didn’t say what date, it said early 2011 that Watanabe Yusuke and Tori’s draft got started.

I don't know how I would feel, but it would be a movie I would have liked to see, of course. Some of the ideas are generic, so I'm good with the current version, but there are some other ideas that would have been better, such as the setting being Kuririn and Android 18's wedding. A combination of those ideas and the current version would make Movie 14 be even better.

Hopefully they saved the good ideas to showcase them one day, I still would like to see the wedding. And maybe Marron's birth while we are at it (with the confirmation of the year being AGE 771, for me! ).

It sounded no different from Z's older movies, just with higher production value behind it. Battle of Gods and Daima are probably the closest we got to seeing what Toriyama would've done had he continued the manga for a bit longer back in the 90s; everything in-between, not so much.

Well you need to understand that writing and drawing manga in weekly format basis was a tough business for mangaka’s health.

As always the only thing of value lost was 18 and Kuririn’s wedding being a much more interesting backdrop than Bulma’s Birthday Barbecue.

The plague of evil has already been done twice by Toei. The Aqua Mist in the Garlic Jr arc and Baby as a parasite in the Baby arc. Dende knows we needed to revisit that plot a third fucking time

I'm happy with the version that we got. I feel like the original version of the film would have sucked and people would have called it "not canon" because Toriyama didn't work on it.

The only thing I wish hadn't been changed is Krilin and 18's wedding. It would have been a more interesting background than Bulma's birthday, and they could have developed one of the couples in the series, since Toriyama was never interested in that aspect.

Other than that, I'm glad they changed it. I like how the final version of the movie turned out.
