Re: "Dragon Ball Daima" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
Like I said, I remember this happening a couple years back with one of the One Piece two-in-one collection sets. The discs were the correct discs, but they had the labels for the "Voyage" sets on them instead of the "Collection" labels, which was noticed by the few people who managed to get a copy before they were held back. When the set eventually did come out, they started by shipping out whatever stock they already had, so the version I got had the incorrect labels on them. It seems like a safe bet that, whenever Daima actually ends out shipping out for everyone, they're gonna clean out the old stock first with whatever's wrong with it.mecha3000 wrote: Wed Mar 04, 2026 5:55 am Apparently, some fans said they received their Daima Blu-rays with no issues or mislabels. I think I read that on Reddit somewhere. I just hope this doesn't mean that whenever Crunchyroll releases the new delayed versions of the box sets, they're not inferior to the ones released this week. At least, the few that were released this week. Ridiculous. I mean, I get issues come up, but this type of thing never really happened with Funimation before it got swallowed up by Crunchyroll. And apparently, now it's being released on JULY 3RD!!! If that's true, WHAT THE HELL???

Re: "Dragon Ball Daima" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
Assuming you're talking about Collection 30, I ordered it 2 1/2 years after it was originally released and received one with the Voyage labels. Maybe I was just 'unlucky', or maybe they never actually corrected that? I know that there was a similar case with Amazon UK a few years ago, when a Doctor Who set had disc labels for the wrong season (so the listed episodes were incorrect, unlike the One Piece example) and the publisher definitely did a stock recall, but Amazon sent the bad sets out anyway. Probably because Amazon is so maddeningly automated at this point.Lance Freeman wrote: Wed Mar 04, 2026 4:58 pm Like I said, I remember this happening a couple years back with one of the One Piece two-in-one collection sets. This Reddit post says that "discs one and three were stacked on each other", so I guess that Disc One wasn't actually placed in a hub before it was sealed? Maybe that production issue caused the delay?

I wonder if this is a Toei specific issue, since Solo Leveling season 2 is still set to come out in a couple weeks, but we've heard absolutely nothing about future One Piece sets after the ninth Wano set.
Re: "Dragon Ball Daima" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
The sad thing is that even before this delay and Crunchyroll's piss poor home release selections/schedule, I had problems with their last big Dragon Ball complete series release - the Dragon Ball Super steelbook gift set back in 2022. I preordered from Crunchyroll's site MONTHS IN ADVANCE and for some strange reason, my steelbook set didn't arrive until like two weeks later than promised. Meanwhile, some randoms on Amazon who ordered it like two days before release got theirs on release day. And when my steelbooks came, they were damaged and the discs had scratches. So, I tried to return them and the process was SO COMPLICATED. Crunchyroll's return service is terrible and takes so long to get back to you, unlike Amazon. That was a learning lesson for me and ever since then, I don't even bother ordering from Crunchyroll's website anymore. Sure enough, when the YYH 30th box set with the new OVA released, I ordered it directly from Amazon and it came on release day.
Sorry for the rant, but basically, I'm not surprised Crunchyroll messed this release up. Again, if they decide to not release Dragon Ball physical media anymore in the future, I won't even be too upset about it because of how Crunchyroll has handled their releases for the past few years. In fact, how awesome would it be if the Japanese Blu-rays came with an English subtitle track like SAND LAND did? That way, even if Crunchyroll stops Dragon Ball home releases, at least, we can buy the Japanese releases. It'd be even better if they somehow could even include the English dub track, but that's wishful thinking, especially because the Japanese releases come before the international ones.

I'm actually surprised Japanese home releases don't come with more subtitle tracks, as they don't take up much space and would result in more international sales.mecha3000 wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 6:59 amHow awesome would it be if the Japanese Blu-rays came with an English subtitle track like SAND LAND did?
Re: "Dragon Ball Daima" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
Yeah, it would definitely boost their sales and I'm honestly thinking, there's a possibility of it happening. Akio Iyoku was the one who pushed for the SAND LAND (feels right capitalizing it) movie to even get made, so if he's the one who pushed for Super: Beerus (and beyond) to get made, it only makes sense to also include English subs on those releases too. I don't know if Toei did the Sand Land movie, though, so I don't know the logistics of the whole thing. The Dark Knight wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2026 7:20 am I'm actually surprised Japanese home releases don't come with more subtitle tracks, as they don't take up much space and would result in more international sales.
Still, assuming Crunchyroll lets us down and either messes up future releases or abandons physical media entirely, it'd at least be nice to have Japan's home releases of stuff like Super: The Galactic Patrol and Super: Granolah the Survivor (whatever it would be called) to fall back on.

Do Crunchyroll's home video releases of Dragon Ball Daima have either the English subs done by Steve Simmons or Toei's in-house English subs used in streaming releases?

Steve responded here recently that he's no longer providing subtitles to Crunchyroll.TechExpert2021 wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 10:10 pm Do Crunchyroll's home video releases of Dragon Ball Daima have either the English subs done by Steve Simmons or Toei's in-house English subs used in streaming releases?
Their home release of Daima seemingly got canned/delayed (it's been scrubbed from their own website), but at least some people had their normal (non-"Limited Edition") slip out from Amazon on its original release date last week. I saw one Reddit post about it. Don't know that anyone who has it knows/cares to check that sort of info.

I just got a shipping confirmation for my Amazon copy, supposed to be in tomorrow so we'll see what, if anything, the issue could have been. I honestly have no idea what the heck is going on with this release. CR is still set to release the second season of Solo Leveling on Tuesday, but that's it, there's nothing slated from them after that.

Re: "Dragon Ball Daima" Crunchyroll Home Release Thread
I was wondering why my copy never arrived, then I see this. And it's not even surprising; just another bulletpoint in Crunchyroll's laundry list of controversies and fumbles.
People thought Funimation was bad, but these guys have consistently dropped the ball even prior to the Sony acquisition and clearly have no idea how to run shit at the scale they're trying to operate. Their incompetence isn't limited to home media or lack thereof, it's more like a core feature of the company.
I'll snag the Daima Blu-ray if they ever release it, but I think I'm otherwise done supporting them in any capacity afterward.

Some new Crunchyroll stuff has been solicited, but no return of Daima. So either this is an issue with them losing the warehouse in Iowa that they got when they bought RightStuf, which would explain a bunch of Discotek titles vanishing from the store front, or it's a Toei issue, which would also explain why One Piece sets also appears to be on hold.

They're usually announced more than one in advance and there's been zero mention of the next 2-in-1 Collection set.The Dark Knight wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 5:37 pmA new One Piece set will be released on April 6th, which is only two and a half months after the previous set released on January 25th.Lance Freeman wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 4:55 pm Some new Crunchyroll stuff has been solicited, but no return of Daima. The next collection will make up the January set and the April one. Considering the April one isn't released, I'm not too surprised the collection hasn't been announced yet. If I had to guess, the collection will be announced next month for a July release. There's also the fact that One Piece is going to be releasing half the episodes it normally does starting from this year, so the releases may take longer in order to spread things out more and avoid too big of gaps. If my calculations are correct, there should be 5 collections left for Wano, and 3 for Egghead; that's not that many in the grand scheme of things. If they release two collections this year, that only leaves 6 before they're caught up to the upcoming material.Lance Freeman wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 8:04 pmThey're usually announced more than one in advance and there's been zero mention of the next 2-in-1 Collection set.

We're getting off track here, though. Set's in limbo and no one knows what's going on besides a vague "it's been delayed" statement allegedly from CR with the source "trust me, bro" that's been going around. Everything at CR is on fire and I think we probably won't get much more in terms of DB related home release from them besides the Moro arc.
If you can still order it anywhere, try ordering it. You might get a copy in, that's how I got mine.
