I thought Lord Slug was supposed to take place before the Namekian saga, although it doesn't fit neatly there either, since Goku is supposed to be in the hospital after his fight with Vegeta, which is why he didn't come with the others to Namek in the first place. King Kai acts like Goku's "Super Saiyan" transformation is something he hadn't seen before. Of course, the design is different, because we hadn't seen it in the anime yet and they had to guess. But if Goku had already defeated Frieza as a Super Saiyan, King Kai wouldn't be speculating on if Goku's transformation in Lord Slug was the legendary Super Saiyan form.
I believe It's supposed to be after, it's like I said in a previous post, with the exception of Movie 1, which was a alternate take on Raditz, all of the Z movies are imaginations of the actual arcs in the anime ending earlier, they're supposed to take place after the most recent events in the anime but not considering what came after, even though the manga was already ahead. So Movie 4 for example has Kaio casually mentioning Freeza to Goku as if he were already been defeated.
The only movie I think they made imagining taking place before the Freeza arc is Movie 2, given its release and Gohan's haircut.
Movie 3 is complicated though because everyone is alive, but it strongly suggests that Freeza is alive and has Goku wearing his Namek gi.

My idea on the alternate timelines that DBZ Movies 1-13 take place
DBZ Movie 1: Raditz never came to Earth. Either he got hit by a comet or didn't know that Goku was there.
DBZ Movie 2: Piccolo survived his attack from Nappa and Goku finished off Vegeta
DBZ Movie 3: Goku came in time to save everyone from Nappa and Vegeta
DBZ Movie 4: Piccolo killed Freeza on Namek and Vegeta is dead too
DBZ Movie 7: Cell never goes back in time and they used the bomb switch to defeat #16-18
DBZ Movie 9 is the only one that I feel like that can still fit as of 2026
DBZ Movie 13 - This one almost fits until you realize Bluma has Cell's time machine in a better shape compare to the one in Super. I think it's probably set sometime after Goku used the Dragon Balls to erase Buu's memories and before Daima.
With these I can agree, but not the following ones given some specific details (most of them not being in-universe though)
DBZ Movie 5-6: Goku never gets the heart virus and stops Dr. Gero and #19 before they awaken #16-18. Piccolo also finishes off Cell as well. This could explain why Future Trunks was never mention in either movie
Movie 5 came out before the Androids show up in the manga, and it was also too late in production and too early for the anime for them to consider Freeza's return. So I think in this one would be most likely Goku defeating Freeza with the Genkidama and returning Earth with everyone. Muten Roshi in the beginning talks about the trip to Namekusei, so I think this a scenario where Goku never went to Yardrat. Plus, Gohan still has Namekusei haircut.
Movie 6 I do view as a Goku never getting heart virus and Dr. Gero & 19 defeated before the other Androids awakened scenario, but not Piccolo fusing and stopping Cell. The time Piccolo and Kami fuse and Cell is introduced I think was too late for them to view Piccolo defeating him. I do understand why believe that it's fused Piccolo in this movie though because of the Dende scene, though I personally think it's either just Kami retiring or them adding that scene in response to the latest manga chapters at the time, but not having time to fix Piccolo power level.
DBZ Movie 8, 10 and 11- Broly was born on Age 737 which changed him compare to his Super counterpart. Cell never host the Cell Games and he probably took on everyone in a one on one fight instead. Goku doesn't visit Earth for a day which explains why he is in Other World at the end of DBZ Movie 11. Without Goku, Vegeta never falls under Babidi's spell meaning that there's no Majin Buu.
Movies 10 and 11 somehow would need Goku dying after Movie 8 to work. So I view the Cell Games as still happening in that timeline, just slgihtly different.
Movie 11 has Android 18 referencing the events at the Tenkaichi Budokai where she fights Satan, so I like to imagine that Goku still visited Earth, the events at the Tenkaichi Budokai and Babidi's ship as we know still happened, but not everything that came after, that means no Majin Vegeta or Boo because Babidi and Dabura are defeated. So Goku returns to Afterlife, then Movies 10 and 11 happen.
DBZ Movie 12 - Gohan finishes off Super Buu. I feel like this makes sense power scaling wise as Base Gohan was able to kill Freeza in a single punch without going Super Saiyan
This one is very complicated, because the previous movies villains show up, so you would need to say that all of the previous movie happened in some unseen alternative way. As for Gohan, while Ultimate Gohan was already introduced in the manga months before the movie was released, in the anime there was still no Ultimate Gohan, and they would need the anime introducing the new form first before using in a movie, so I think it's more likely a scenario where either Fat Boo or Super Boo were defeated by Gotenks, or in other different way, but not by Gohan. And I do think it makes sense to have Base Gohan defeating Final Form Freeza without Ultimate.

There was a scene of Cell killing American Football or Rugby players, though I'm not sure if that was in the manga.
