James Marsters was a disgusting choice to cast considering his history (and I don't refer to the live-action movie) and should be recast.

What did he do? Also is he the only person to play a DB and a Superman villain?

The guy is a major creep.
He wrote a song called ''Dangerous'' about a 16 year old Michelle Trachtenberg when he was 37, with lyrics like

Sadly you do get a lot of this behaviour in the entertainment industry from what I've seen. I was very disappointed in that Toru Furuya scandal a few years ago.

I saw a meme online of Goku saying: "trans rights are human rights" and I pointed out how it's funny that so many people in the comments were offended by a cartoon character saying this in a meme when said character has been voiced by a woman for 40 years, and nobody in Japan bats an eye. After getting called a bunch of abilist slurs I got people unironically telling me that: "Goku was only voiced by a woman as a kid. You haven't watched anything past early Dragon Ball." (With much worse grammar and horrendous spelling errors.) Some people know nothing about the things they claim to enjoy.

Yeah, social media spaces are a cess pool of fake, manufactured outrage by bots and accounts that intentionally design posts meant to go viral while stirring shit. It's a really good way of essentially keeping the public discourse eternally angry and stupid so that any real person who engages with it becomes angry and stupid and easily controlled.

Even putting aside the fact that Goku has always been voiced by a woman, it really goes to show how little thought people place into thinking about these characters and how well they may-or-may-not fit actual gender tropes. Like, Goku isn't really masculine? The guy doesn't exert an identity of being a 'man' beyond a very rudimentary understanding of 'genitalia equal gender' early on in the story. Which is to say, I just don't think that Goku is really a 'man' and could very easily be written as, say, a trans woman or without a gender at all, if one so desired.

Remember, folks: our society wants you to believe that the worst thing in the world that anyone can be is a transgender woman, which is why you should always bare in mind for anything pertaining to gender.

In case it wasn't clear enough, they outright state that he is a benevolent character! How I wished Dragon Ball Heroes gave him Super Saiyan God, which would just further solidify his place among the good guys!




Kidding. No "benevolent" adjective is to be found in the Japanese version, but still...
