While it's gonna be an enjoyable viewing experience from A to Z with the content being propelled to the heights of a high-quality seasonal anime, there are two specific kind of scenes that will be very interesting to discover.

The scenes that are cut are not really the most fascinating part because the only reasons possible why they would be cut are clear from the get-go: they were expendable or detrimental to the storytelling or both. So no big deal to analyze there, I guess.

The shots with drawings corrected will be very nice of course, but there again, no big deal in analyzing them, since the reason is just "the drawing was not up to standards so we corrected the lines, proportions or whatever was wrong" and there's not much more to it.

But the most interesting thing to discover and to wonder about are going to be:

- The scenes that were kept but re-imagined. If they went as far as re-thinking the way to show the scene, it will be interesting to analyze what they might have thought was wrong with the original way to show it and why they went to the effort of making it in a brand new way and why they think the new version does the job while the previous one didn't. Sometimes, it might be just because the original shots/scenes were "unredeemable" by just correcting the drawings, but other times, it might also be because they found the overall presentation of the whole scene insufficient or wanted to convey a different feel, a different impression, a different message.

We already know from the trailers that it includes for example the revelation of the Super Saiyan God, who lands on the ground seen from the back and then turning around in the original, while in the new version the camera pans upwards to reveal his face and flowing hair with pinkish smoke in a shot similar to the manga while he is still floating in the air.

- The brand new scenes. If they went to the trouble of having to carefully animate a brand new scene that didn't exist in the original version, then it will be interesting to discover what they thought was cruelly missing in the storytelling of the show to the point that they HAD to make the effort to create the scene from scratch and include it even when the objective is to cut as much as possible and make the story more compact. We'll be able to wonder what this new scene brings that made it worth creating it and adding it to improve the quality of the storytelling.

We already know from the trailers that it includes for example Beerus sleeping and waking up on his planet, while the original version showed him already awake and "judging" a planet while testing their food.

I found a video in facebook, which I assume is the same like in YouTube:

https://www.facebook.com/reel/2091275088421516

It is a good video. I posted it incase other people couldn't watch the other video due to region block.

My feelings about this edit are going to be based on what gets kept and what gets cut, but that's obvious and I'm probably not alone on that, even if what each person wants kept and dropped are unique to them.
1 of the biggest criticisms of the first 2 arcs, the Future Trunks Arc, & the TOP Arc of Super was that they went on a bit too long. The first 2 arcs specifically because they stretched out less than 2 hour movies to 13-14 episodes each with boring, bland fight scenes & unnecessary fluff to fill out the episode orders. Plus, with a lot of shots receiving touch-ups to the artwork or entire revamps, I'm looking forward to what they show us.
Only dubs that matter are DB, Kai, & Super. Nothing else.

At least in regards to those first two arcs, the fact that this is the third version of both Beerus and Freeza Ressurection is just pretty fucking bewildering. You want the best versions of both of those arcs? The movies are basically it for both visual quality and pacing.

My default status is that there’s just not much you can do here when the bones of Super is fucked. Maybe looks a bit less ugly, maybe shortened a bit, but at the end of the day—it’s still Super.

The real meat is going to be the Galactic Patrol arc because at least that is being built from the ground, and the hope is that they can figure their shit out.

Those first two arcs are salvagable—even without spending a ton of cash on new shots—they just need to make decisive decisions to flesh out the characters more, which is decidedly something that would go against trying to mimic Toriyama or whatever. It's a shame, though, because additional character material would absolutely make this series a lot of fun to watch.

Yeah, well, pacing-wise, this is gonna be like a 2-hours movie, and as for the visual quality, a 2026 TV animation could surpass a 2013 movie animation.

They had months to create something with base pictures already being here to save 3/4 of the time necessary to creation and spend all the time perfecting it visually to the max.
This could end up being basically around movie quality, pretty much like all anime going seasonal with "it will be ready when it is ready but we're taking the time we need" route nowadays, I guess.

And various choices like a huge cruiseship instead of just Bulma's garden could make it the superior version in the end.

So I don't think you can say "the 2013 will automatically be better anyway". Maybe THIS will be the definitive version now that it has the most recent ideas like the boat and the latest visual advancement (unlike the 13 years old movie) as well as possible story adjustments that make it match to the following events much more than the original 2013 movie.

I never understood why BoG needed a manga and episode version, when the movie was good. The manga skipped RoF, so not sure why we needed episode of RoF.
DBS both the anime and manga skipped it.

As for DBS Super Hero that one should get a anime remake. The manga was better than the movie.

To be honest I think every fan recut so far has been an improvement over the original Super. They still keep the best anime only content and just cutting standard anime padding used to extend the runtime or filler that conflicts with the story later. Aside from some standalone slice of life episode, I think most of what they cut probably won't be missed by anyone.

It's probably a lot easier to cut the story and pace it when the story winds up not needing to fill a timeslot while also trying to work with limited resources and time for production. I recently rewatched Episode #28—the first Universe 6 arc episode—and thought that it was actually really good for an episode that barely moves and has just six characters to work with. I think a second pass on fleshing out the characters being worked with can always help.

I can't believe it's already this Sunday!

I'm so glad that in the streaming era, it's way easier to just wait for a specific time and watch the episode in HQ with subtitles right away.

I remember back in 2015, there were always those crazy people looking for pirate live LQ streams straight from Japan, or more 'conservative' viewers like me who would wait for a fansub to drop before finally watching it.

I really hope this remake/reboot is worth it. Does anyone know if there will be new scenes or additions that weren't in the original anime?

Just the fact that the animation is going to be better already makes it worth it for me. For me, and probably for a lot of people as Super's terrible animation in the beggining was a huge turn-off to keep watching it.

Yeah hindsight helps because they have entire story in front of them and when deciding what to cut. A common criticism of Super anime was feeling like they were rushed and "too many cooks in the kitchen". I remember sometimes one writer's scenes getting ignored by another writer or contradict the outline. I think also the fact that the outlines were short so the staff had to stretch them enough to fill 130 episodes while being rushed. They wouldn't really have that issue anymore if it's going to be seasonal and only as many episodes as they feel is necessary.

I would say that it was less the number of cooks and more so just the lack of planning. Dragon Ball Super didn't have any more staff than, say, a series like Pocket Monsters (Chief Director, Series Director, Series Composer, six-plus writers all contributing to stories, to say nothing of producers). What Dragon Ball Super lacked was time for anyone to be on the same page and marching forward, moreso during the first two arcs. By the time we got to the Universe 6 arc, King Ryuu was writing the majority of the episodes and acting as an unofficial series composer and then Tomioka Atsuhiro did that from the Future Trunks arc forward. If the series director doesn't have time to handle series composition, then a series composer is typically hired. Dragon Ball Super wound up not having an officially credited series composer and also burning through series directors (Chioka Masatoshi for #1-46, Hatano Morio for #33-76, Hatano Kouhei for #68-76, Nagamine Tatsuya & Nakamura Ryouta for #77-131), which really goes to show how chaotic the production was up until Episode #28.

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is going to be interesting to see unfold, since Seya Matsuto is credited as both series composition and direction. They have no prior credits, so I'm assuming that it's going to be some sort of psuedonym for either one or multiple people—or even someone without proper experience and training as a writer and director for Japanese animation. With luck, it won't be an issue.

Yes, there will be new scenes here and there that were not present at all in the original version of this anime, as well as scenes that have been completely remade (not just correcting the drawings and colors, but completely reinventing how it's setup and shown as in "we erase the original scene and we make a new version of the scene from scratch to replace it as if it was a brand new series we were just creating now").

If you're not afraid to spoil yourself, the trailers already show an example of a brand new scene:
And an example of remade scene from the trailers too, again if you're not afraid of spoilers from the trailers:

Ok, so, I both agree & disagree on visual quality. Though the movies have better production pipelines that allowed for more on-model animation, I think Beerus is gonna surpass them a bit since they're applying what they learned from doing Daima to it, as well as make it more visually cohesive with the TOP Arc with the shading. Pacing-wise, I think this will be on-par with Battle of Gods, just converted to a 6-episode arc, so that's 2 hours of content. I do think the best version of the story WILL be the movie, but I think it'll be fine.
Res F, there's not much you can do for that story because of its utter lack of tension & weird things Toriyama did for the story of it. The most the Super reboot can do for it is improve the animation & probably have some new ideas implemented into it to try to make it a bit better. The 1 thing I hope they cut out is Piccolo sacrificing himself for Gohan in that bad fanservice scene. It means nothing for the arc because it doesn't have Gohan do shit & he got resurrected by the Dragon Balls immediately after, so it's literally fucking pointless.

The manga was initially supposed to be promo material for the anime. Do we think that there's going to be any new dialog referencing Daima? Or is that outside the scope of this?

It would be funny if we go through the whole thing with them pretending Daima never happened. Or even better, if we get to Moro and they suddenly start mentioning Daima, since that's being developed from scratch.

"Vegeta, remember that time you changed into SSJ3." "Ugh... I forgot I could that, Kakarrot!"

"Wow, Namek! Remember when we found out that Namekians were from the Demon World?"

It is likely that the internal instructions given by the rightholders are that Daima, Super and GT are incompatible and separated.

Video games are under strict watch by the rightholders according to the Fighterz devs if I remember correctly, for example to the point that they would intervene for the coherency of dialogue and say "this character would never say that, it is not coherent with our vision that you must follow". It could also be why Sparking Zero hardly lets you play things that don't exist in some form and even locks transformations if the costume is not 100% coherent.

If that is the case about games following the rightholders' strict instructions, then the latest big game, Sparking Zero, shows that the instructions are that the Super characters are unaware of anything related to Daima (as seen in the encyclopedia that uses Super characters who don't even know who they're looking at when seeing Daima characters and forms). This is also confirmed in the latest Adventure mode in which characters from all three possible sequels seem completely caught off-guard and unaware of the characters and forms of other shows, like GT Super Saiyan 4 Goku not understanding what "Ultra Instinct" would even mean when he meets Jiren and gets told that no Ultra Instinct means zero chance against him.

I think that all three sequels show - through video games or the series themselves - that they are unrelated and unbound to the other two sequels. It's very likely Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will confirm that with Goku going Super Saiyan 3 as his maximum against Beerus, and perhaps even clearly stating "I have absolutely no form beyond this Super Saiyan 3" like he does in the manga, which will definately make the separation clear.

We'll see soon enough, since the confrontation will happen quite early in the 6 episodes!
But I say it's a pretty safe bet that it will just confirm early on that all three possible sequels are absolutely not meant to function together in any capacity and are each their own thing, so that each story doesn't get to be a "prisoner" of what the other series invented.

Daima will be simply totally ignored, I'd bet on it! Which is completely fine with me, I don't mind that the three possible sequels are kept separated so far.

I noticed I did a little mistake in my previous post. I wanted to say both the anime and manga skipped DBS Broly movie.

So after BoG Toyotaro was given creative freedom to do as he likes in the manga.
