Yeah, it’s interesting. It doesn’t have the same catchy feel as the other Dragon Ball openings, and I can’t really see myself humming it. Even Daima had a pretty memorable opening, in my opinion. That said, I did like the flashy visuals, especially Super Saiyajin Blue. The shade of blue looks a bit lighter, which I really liked.

I saw an edit where someone put Chozetsu over the new opening, and to my unpleasant surprise I thought it worked so much better. This feeling might be bolstered by nostalgia for 2015/2016, but I truly did not have "song so bad it makes me a Chozetsu believer" on my bingo card for this show lol.

People are funny. I remember the criticism "Chouzetsu Dynamic" got when DBS first started airing. People were saying it was way too chill, too slow for a DB anime OP, and some even said it sounded like a drunk guy singing. Now look at them, realizing it wasn't actually that bad and that they could easily reuse it as the opening for this remaster.

I'm not saying it's all just nostalgia, but I think familiarity plays a part too. The thing is, the current opening is straight-up terrible. Will people get used to it eventually? Sure, but I find that hard to believe.

Say whatever you want about Daima, but I genuinely liked both its opening and ending from the very first few episodes.

Chouzetsu is definitely a bad song, we weren't wrong . The vocals are terribly grating and lethargic.

I'm curious how this episode plays when watched after Dragon Ball Kai. The sudden reversal in the timeline with no explanation would be weird as hell. They definitely should have included a new recap, even if it was just reusing Kai footage.

Noah wrote: Sun Oct 11, 2026 9:45 pm Another thing that just crossed my mind... Since it hasn't been confirmed that the remaster will cover all the way up to the ToP arc, and so far it seems like it's only going up to the Champa arc...

So the anime will be split into different parts for the sake of consistency? Like, the first one now is covering Beerus, the second Golden Freeza, the third Champa... and then they jump straight to the Galactic Patrol arc before going back to the Zamasu arc and the other arcs they haven't covered yet?

Damn, this is quite confusing...
They're probably just doing six months of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, six months of ONE PIECE (1999) and then who knows what will be airing in this slot in October 2027. Patience is the key to being a fan of art!
Yeah... at this rate, we might actually get to the Moro arc around 2028. Also, I brought up the possibility of them adapting the ToP arc as the final DBS arc, but I forgot they might consider adapting the Broly and Super Hero movies into full arcs as well.

But honestly? That would be completely unnecessary.

Broly is definitely completely unnecessary, and honestly, so is Super Hero, but it would still be cool to see the manga’s expanded content animated. Especially considering that Toriyama himself wrote the ending.

Too early for review of the whole thing.
I have to say that the opening is kinda weak even visually and that goes to the overall grit and edginess in art direction.

I really liked what I saw tho. While Yamamuro didn’t convince me in the animated intro, this is definitely how Super should’ve looked to begin with.
It really looks far superior, the choreography is there, some of the shot and angle decisions are even more jarring in direct comparison. From this point, I consider it a huge improvement.

I am not sure about the gritty and dramaturgy tho. It was nice that they did a form of recaps through narrative, showing stills, but they were quite fast and I am afraid, that all we’ll have left will be the gritty conflict while missing the chill of slice of life.
At times I felt like the show I am watching is the US fan wet dream of their hardcore DeeBeeZee and it’s just missing Falconer’s score.

I do understand them keeping “up-to-date” recycled acting from OG Super, but god, why didn’t they switch Yanami for his replacament and redub his lines? It threw me off from the first spoken line and I was like damn. I get it from the merits stand-point and possible reasons like “it’s his last role!”, but coming from recent rewatch of Z, this guy was killing it and this is just sad. I’ll always remember him as the narrator and Kaioh from the golden era.

Also kinda lost hope, that they will edit parts to match the manga, like Champa meeting Freeza force before or updating the cast attendance and designs at the Universe 6 Tournament.
Still better than Kai in many ways tho.

I will watch the show, curious about it but holding myself to wait for more material before branding it as a letdown, but I have to admit, that I was quite lukewarm and indifferent about it during the watch and I am willing to bet, that BOG movie will be the OG and superior account of this story anyway.

Broly is definitely completely unnecessary,
If they expand the Saiyans part (by a lot!), I'd say retelling Dragon Ball Super Broly is completely necessary.

Considering how vital the Broly movie is to Super's overall narrative, I will be shocked if it isn't part of the next remaster project. With that said, I can see them just cutting up the current Broly movie into parts and filling in the gaps with new animation to make the transition from one episodes into the next more natural.

I'm gonna be angry if they don't remaster the Future Trunks saga because that's the one saga that will improve TENFOLD if you give it better artwork and pacing. It would just be a missed opportunity.

Plus, I want to see the community's reaction if they cut 67 entirely and give Trunks a fairy-tale Disney happy ending.

I'm neutral on the Tournament of Power. How would you even remaster it? You could cut down all the filler, I suppose. Like all those boring, tedious scenes of Krillin saying stupid things on the spectator's stands. But the artwork is good, and frankly, episodes 129-131 are perfect.
At his core Zamasu is good like Shin, though I guess you could say he was so fastidious that it backfired. But you know, for this "Future Trunks Arc" you had to depict Zamasu and Trunks' inner conflict, right? If this was back when I was drawing the manga myself then I doubt if I could have done it. I mean, I'm not very good at depicting the characters' psychology on the page. So this all came together because now I only have to think up the story. [...] On my own, I doubt I would have been able to express Zamasu's fall to the dark side.

I also hope Future Trunks saga gets remastered.

For the Tournament for Power they can cut most of the peanut gallery talking. Goku dropping his guard constantly can get cut and other useless scenes.

So I've watched this episode. The good: the new scenes were decently done, and the redos were nice, although why change how that monster looked and make it so serious? I like that they made Goku less goofy. I like the overall flow of the episode. The bad: I miss the comedic elements and I guess we will never see Vegeta take Trunks to an amusement parc :( It was extremely cheap to not re record the dialogue or even record dialogue for the new parts. And the opening song is nothing special at all.

Theres always the original Super for that. Even with this new version of Super's merits I'm sure there will always be good to find in the 2015 anime.

Another example being Brian Drummond's cameo, which we probably won't get here as the Copy Vegeta arc was not a main arc.

My thoughts exactly, also I'm not really fond of this episode, Vegeta is excessively grumpy. Like he can't enjoy a damn time with his family? The ones he reminded before his sacrifice? Make him uncomfortable, maybe blush a little when Bulma shows affection, but not mad like the time they spending together was a full sore for him.

It really pisses me off, just reminding about how awful is Vegeta characterization in Super.

Man, I hate it when they lock music to Japan only.
The epic new opening is available on iTunes/Apple Music in Japan when you search for it on Google, but it is nowhere to be found when I check my iTunes in France.
Luckily, the ending is available, guess the artist is under a label that doesn't think "let's make it available only in Japan so that we make less sales, especially when the song is heard by all countries every week on a legendary show and could be wanted by hundreds of thousands of fans of the associated show".

Anyway, let's hope the new soundtrack (unannounced but likely) with the new tracks heard in the episodes won't be locked to Japan too.
While the movie soundtracks are mostly available on international iTunes (Resurrection 'F', Broly, Super Hero), the soundtracks from the various series are not, so unfortunately, that doesn't bode well.

In the meantime, the series is so well done that I'll probably rewatch episode 1 before episode 2 gets released.
There's a good chance I'll actually watch every episode twice if it's always that quality.

Wish every popular series and game could have a second "all-improved" pass (which is different from a full remake, but a second "corrective" pass would be quite welcome in most products after a few years). With the same update concept of "we keep what's alright, fix the little bits that need fixing here and there that make it seems that the quality takes a dip, remake the moment when fixes to the original won't be enough and insert new things that might have been missing".

Unfortunately, while I don't mind the fact that there will seemingly be no new dialogue, there's one thing I think had to be corrected and won't possibly be corrected without new lines: the fact that the Pilaf Gang being kids again was not explained (unlike in the movie).
Sadly, with no new dialogue, it's impossible to insert an explanation as to what happened to them, unless they can take lines from the movie (and it's possible that they don't have the rights to do so). So people that don't know about it will - as shown by reaction videos sometimes - be like "but why do they look like kids here? I don't understand, Mai was a teen or an adult in the original Dragon Ball events dozens of years ago. Did I miss something?"

Personally, I wouldn't want that to becoming common, I feel it would lead animation studios down the same path as AAA video games, where they release a flawed product with the expectation of fixing it a few years later, instead of doing things right from the start. (And they're already doing something similar to fix errors in Blu-ray releases)

Well, with AAA video games, it's not really a global fix-it-all overhaul and more about fixing glitches or adding "quality of life" stuff here and there or adjusting annoying gameplay things. Put side by side, you wouldn't see much visual difference between the game's release and update n°10 unless it was specifically a graphically glitched area.
And with Blu-ray releases, the correction are really for only very specific horrible shots with 95% of the episode being untouched even when subpar.

In both cases, we're far from this series' treatment that is really more like "we went through it all shot-by-shot and scene-by-scene once again and really tried to improve every little thing that was even just a bit off compared to the minimal Looks Good status and make it clearly reach a new level of quality for every minute.

There are games that are AAA and that I love, but in EVERY section or "level", you can see jarring things that can take you out of the experience/immersion and that the devs should fix and would clearly see if they went through a playthrough of their games again trying to watch every little thing that can be fixed. It doesn't prevent the game from being great and looking great in any way, but it DOES systematically make you notice that flaw and take you out of the experience in this instant everytime you replay it. In those cases, I wish they'd go through the DBS:B process of "let's go through it again from the beginning to the end and see things we do need to touch up or even rematerialize in a different way to fix it".
