omae no kaasan is the forum name for Greg Werner, the creator of The Ultimate DBZ Info Page, hence his special handle. His website featured a huge amount of information, including a complete character guide and attack guide based on the ones found in Daizenshuu 7. His site was very popular back in the day, and other sites stole shamelessly from him. Since he made a few mistakes in his translations, he is therefore the source of several misconceptions in the English-speaking Dragon Ball fan community to this day, such as that the Dragon Ball world's main calendar is uses "A.D" to mark years (it's actually Age), or that SSJ Goku's battle power is listed in Daizenshuu 7 as 15 million (it's actually given as 150 million). Despite mistakes like this, his website was (and is) far more accurate than the majority of Dragon Ball fansites. Werner is currently very active in the English One Piece fan community, and can be seen in the Arlong Park forums.

Since his post counter has obviously been manipulated how can we assume that his title of "Decrepit Hermit" is true? It might be but I couldn't find any proof.
Re: Daizenshuu EX Member Hierarchy
It was just a spambot. One that happened to include manipulation of its own postcount as part of its routine. If all it did was change a postcount value somewhere, then the forum's custom titles system would still reflect that.SSj_Rambo wrote:This Guy (Terjodickder1) joined on Oct. 27, 2006 and on Oct. 27, 2006 he was at 16,777,215 posts. I think that it is each members job to consider their own post count when posting and wonder if since they have a certain post count they might not be as active in the Dragonball Web World as others and new/interesting news or information to them might not be as important to very active members. If everyone took the initiative to do this then you wouldn't have to judge other people's importance by their post count. (I only have 8 posts currently so I hope I don't sound like a hypocrite ^_^).Vegeta Jr wrote:I like the post count, It shows you who has been on long and it makes it easier to trust people.
By the way, thank you SSj Kaboom for explaining that spambot, I understand it now.
Retarded suggestion, but it's not as if the show doesn't have a theme built right in-

Geez, the most postingest member here only has a ways over 5,000 posts. What'd be the point of having ranks that go up to four times that? It just doesn't suit the posting rate of these forums.
And what's a supermod?
And what's a supermod?

Reminds me a little too much of those generic DBZ forums that don't give a crap about proper grammar and such. It's a nice idea though, but I'm sure everybody has their own thoughts on what the ranks should be so keeping it how it is (which is how it started, as far as I know) is the best way to keep everyone at least satisfied.

The only way of reaching these goals is to devote your whole life to the forum.gonz wrote:Gotta reach for something.SSJ2bardock wrote:I wouldn't mind having DBZ related ranking, but the post amounts would have to be drastically scaled down. I wish I was Kaioken

I've been on this forum for years and years, and I haven't even reached 1K. Granted, I'm lazy, and a lurker usually, but still. A post count system that relies on going that high would need a board way more active then this one. Cute naming scheme though.
As for post count usage, it doesn't mean much to me. If someone writes six quality posts of great value, thats worth more, to me anyway, then 1,000 halfhearted worthless posts from someone else.

Exactly, the phrase "quality over quantity" comes to mind.laserkid wrote:I've been on this forum for years and years, and I haven't even reached 1K. If the forum ends up surviving 10+ more years, then numbers like that are perfectly feasible.SSJ2bardock wrote:The only way of reaching these goals is to devote your whole life to the forum.gonz wrote:Gotta reach for something.SSJ2bardock wrote:I wouldn't mind having DBZ related ranking, but the post amounts would have to be drastically scaled down. That's not necessarily true at all. You can't just make a leap of faith and say that, because higher postcounts are given certain custom titles, that members who care enough to stay active will spam their own forum.Jerseymilk wrote:Systems like that only encourage people to spam the boards with idiocy.

You obviously need to visit places like MFG or GaiaOnline more. You give people an excuse to be idiots, they won't disappoint. Especially when it's the wonderful internet. -_-gonz wrote:That's not necessarily true at all. Ah GaiaOnline...you'll never find a more retched hive of spam and illiteracy on all of the internet.Jerseymilk wrote:You obviously need to visit places like MFG or GaiaOnline more. Yes, I totally agree with this. It would be much better if the ranks were based off of tenure instead of post counts. But I don't believe that's a possibility with PHPBB.Jerseymilk wrote:Systems like that only encourage people to spam the boards with idiocy.

The comparison doesn't work nearly as well when a userbase is dumb in spite of a user rank system. Active forums tend to have larger user rank systems for people with higher post counts. More active forums also tend to dredge up the least desirable posters. Having a more active forum, then, creates a more active user base and also necessitates a larger user rank system. That's correlation between spammers and user rank systems, not causation.
