Corny one-liners doesn't really sound like the anime dialogue I know.

"Ally to good! Nightmare to you!"

I actually thought that was a pretty cool line...

I actually thought that was a pretty cool line...

I might be killed for this, but.... I thought it was better than the original. I mean, Goku does sort of grow into his whole Saiya-jin heritage over time. But having him suddenly shouting "And I am a Super Saiya-jin!" just doesn't feel right to me. He's not in total denial like he was with Raditz but I just don't see it happening, even with his altered mindset thanks to the transformation.

I kinda have to agree. Even in Burst Limit where the English VA said it correctly it sounds...well it sounds like they could have came up with something better for him to say. Ally to good isn't any better though. Didn't he go into a small speech about how he was a warrior with a pure heart awakened by rage ? That whole thing sounded a bit to chatty for Goku and he never says anything that "poetic" again in the series. At least as far as I know.

Son had a epiphany when Vegeta died, y'guys should try rereading the Manga (maybe somebody could post quick panel scans of the panels with his realization and speech to Freeza) because it makes sense. Son's not the brightest lightbulb but he's not stupid. By declaring himself a Super Saiyan he was also antagonizing Freeza who is both increasingly paranoid and frustrated with Vegeta's going on about the SSj legend.

Yeah, I've always seen it as him trying to scare Freeza, make him suffer, rather than having Saiyajin pride.

That's what Goku says earlier on, after stopping Freeza from shooting down Gohan as he flies away with Piccolo. He goes into the "Super Saiyan Son Goku!!" speech after he takes Freeza's fingertip blast and isn't hurt, and Freeza asks him what he is.

One-liners in a Dragonball movie would be perfectly fine... seeing as there's tons in the English dub and I didn't mind them. I'm not familiar with the Japanese dub but whatever, I know the titles of the episodes in Japanese are corny.

I think James Wong's style of writing suits Dragonball perfectly, honestly, though he's perfectly capable of writing deep and meaningful entertainment.

He and his writing partner Glenn Morgan made the episode "Home" of "The X-Files." That was very disturbing and well-written.

I agree that one liners can be done well for this movie, but the ones that are supposed to be in the script (like the "Did you just fart" response to Goku's voice) do not sound very appealing.

While that IS a great episode of X-Files, I still think (or rather know) that this movie is going to be bad. I keep getting flashes of DOA...

Oh God, I remember watching that episode of the X-Files when it was re-aired on Halloween. Creeped me out, it did. But the live-action DragonBall movie won't be like that (I hope).
