Dragon Ball World

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

I was actually going to post a thread of his that kind of mirrored this discussion, but I decided I didn't want to rile up Toriyama Boss since he's done a little better as of late...

Over the years I've learned that convincing certain people about the difference between fact and fiction can sometimes be very difficult. I'm going to say this and I don't care if anyone gets offended...
Akira Toriyama was a lazy-chain smoking mangaka!
*I always wanted to make something really bold like other people do.

If you think that he sat down with a physics book to design the perfect Dragon World, you're sadly mistaken. Toriyama hated using any reference books, even when drawing the manga. Just because Toriyama made an arbitrary comment about the distance from the Earth to the moon, doesn't mean he calculated the velocity at which Goku actually traveled to the moon! You are comparing apples to oranges. This is a fictional story, with fictional characters, created by a lazy man.
I didn't say that Toriyama calculated the velocity at which Goku actually traveled to the moon, learn to read please. I said, Toriyama used astronomy(distance from the earth to moon). I hope you comprehend.

You missed my point, if Toriyama used astronomy(distance from Earth to the moon), then it's impossible he wouldn't use ballistic or list of vehicle records if you ask him about muten-roshi's reflexes being faster than sound and speed of rocket-powered aircraft. Remember, Muten-roshi grabbed machine bullets with his back and Goku's cloud raced over a rocket-powered aircraft. I'm just basing it on any evidence and proofs that we can find in the manga.

How did you know that machine gun bullets(in dragon ball-world) are slower than sound? Did Toriyama proved it in his work or manga that it is slower than sound? Yes or No?

How did you know that rocket-powered aircrafts(in dragon ball-world) are slower than sound? Did Toriyama proved it in his work or manga that it is slower than sound? Yes or No?
Hujio wrote:I'm going to take your "word" that you're a physics major, and just say, shame on you! You should know that velocity isn't physics, physics is physics. Velocity is just a tool within physics that is used to explain certain events in reference to distance and time. Anyone on this forum can go look up the distance from the Earth to the moon and quote it, but does that mean they just used science? No, they just looked up a number. The person that first calculated the distance probably used physics to find it though.
Physics is the science of matter and its motion, as well as space and time.It uses concepts such as energy, force, mass, and charge. Physics is a science which means it is a set of rules. Velocity, distance and time is a set of rules.

Here's the formula, you can also understand the principle:

velocity = distance/time

distance = velocity x time

time = distance/velocity

Correct me if I'm wrong.
Hujio wrote:You're right, velocity would not exist without distance. There is no debate there. For that matter, velocity would not exist without time either, which is just a human concept anyway. But the point is, Toriyama never thought about any of this. You're trying to apply a real world concept (physics) to a fictional world based on Toriyama's concept of the real world. For all we know, his world's physics could be completely different from our own. And in the long run, who the hell cares... it is a fictional story! :wink:

Now that I wrote all this... Mike, can you please come lock this thread?
I already explained that I only based it on evidence and proofs that you can find in the manga. Yes it's true that physics would be different, but since Toriyama used astronomy, it could only mean that he will also use ballistic and list of vehicle records if you ask him. Logic please, 1/2 = 0.5, 5/10 = 0.5 also, did you get the logic? I didn't say anything about physics in dragon ball and physics in real world are 100% similar, just try to use logic and you will understand what I'm trying to point out.

Moderators, sorry but I need to.

It's a gag manga! It never was nor was it meant to be scientifically sound or accurate.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Because typing in all caps, bumping the topic and adding a bunch of emoticon's is really helping this whole spam situation.
Aro started to laugh. “Ha, ha, ha,” he chuckled.- Actual quote from Twilight

I hope that was sarcasm. And why do you always assume that whatever I say has something to do with emotions??? It's not cool. :roll:

Not emotions, emoticons. They're those little smiley face things you use.

Really? I like those. But from now on, I'll use fewer.
