What's with the sudden "Yay FUNi!" stuff, now that they might be doing a re-dub of the new special?(I'm so EXCITED!!!)
Re-dub?

Yep. No matter how bad they mess it up, they can always redeem themselves by getting Daimao to do the subs.

I wonder if this special will get a Dragonbox The Movies singles type release in Japan. I know that it probably won't need the remastering but it would be a nice format to release it in, and it would help the Dragonbox's keep their "We have every Dragonball video ever" persona.

I could see that happening. I do hope this thing gets some kind of release somewhere, since I might not be able to see it in Japan (and it'd be nice for everyone else, of course). Though technically if it did get a release as an R2 single, it wouldn't be part of the DragonBoxes, since the name "DragonBox" only refers to the boxsets. I don't think the singles releases of the DragonBox footage has a special name. And now I really need to go to bed, because I'm getting all nit-picky.

As far as we know, FUNimation doesn't posess a film master of DBGT, they've only got digi-betas, which means they can't telecine it at 1080p.
Besides, they haven't even released any of the season sets in HD yet.
Please tell me where in this thread the discussion was about Dragonball
GT.
I was talking about releasing
the new special on Blu-Ray. I would be really surprised if Toei doesn't make a 1080 pi master of it...

My bad, got my wires crossed when I posted.
Edit: Fixed now, I really shouldn't post when I'm sick.

Hopefully, it will follow that Dragon Ball GT storyline.

If they only released it for blu-ray I'd be pissed.
Trans rights, now!

It's actually going to be sometime during the late Buu arc, before anything in GT happens. Anyway, the story idea is by Toriyama, and if DragonBall Online is any indication, he doesn't follow GT.

And for good reason.
Anything that somehow negates Dragonball GT, whether it be Dragonball Online or even this new special that's coming in November, is a good thing in my book.

I actually think this special has something to do with DBO

I wonder if this special does get an R2 DVD release if it will get a film animation manga special (animanga). It seems likely, since every other special/movie got one, and Japan does seem to have a pretty hungry DBZ fan-base, since it just got a re-release of the entire manga, a DVD release of everything, new toys and a whole lot of other stuff in just the last 5 years and they still want more; so I'm sure it would sell, especially since hardly anyone will actually get to see it in theatres.

Random, somewhat stupid thought I just had: those red and blue Freeza mook guys are wearing scouters. So does this mean there'll be some battle power readings in this movie, of Buu-era characters? That should provide more fuel for fan arguements...

Oh I hope not, with any luck all they'll do is attempt to read the fighters power levels and then the scouters will blow up, otherwise we'll be looking at some dark times ahead...especially if Funi gets the rights to this special and in their dub mistranslates the power levels.
*Shudders as I have flashbacks to "Over 9,000!!!"*

I don't think Funi will be mistranslating things this time around.

Why not? I know they've been very accurate with the games lately, but they don't seem to have ever really changed their approach to how they handle the anime.
