I'm talking about the manga/graphic novel size. The comics were way before the actual manga size, and weren't even finished. The manga we have are formated in the exact same way as the original release of the manga in Japan. When the Tankoubon came out, Viz were already in a locked serialization of manga. So props to Viz for sticking with the original 42 volumes. And fuck the big editions, they suck.SSj_Rambo wrote:And then they released it in tiny chopped up monthly comics, then a brief run of "slightly bigger than your average tankoubon" tankoubons, then combined VIZ Big editions, then combined collector editions and now tiny chapter editions...again. So 6 different formats (to my knowledge), so I wouldn't be surprised if these Daizenshuu translations get a few re-releases, maybe some with different chopped up and combined formats.Forgotten Hero wrote:I don't think they'll split up the daizenshuu. They released all of Dragonball and Dragonball Z in proper fashion.

Your comments concerning Viz and their translation of Daizenshuu one have been nothing but negative speculation on your part, you made your point, thats fine, but for some reason you then feel the need to periodically remind us with one line posts consisting of "Viz sucks" and "blah blah blah Street fighter".Pain wrote:

I don't wanna have any reason to hold a grudge against you. So PLEASE just leave me be. I was only using sarcasm. And yet you STILL want to bother me. You see all of my faults, but you have yet to see yours. You tell me not to bog this thread down with my "bad comparisons", but I think I remember you having more than one page worth of posts saying the same thing over and over and over: "FUNi's terrible, the actors suck too.". See my point? So don't cast any stones until you know what you've done as well. These are all opinions. Please respect mine like I'm trying to respect yours.
Say your piece, and be done with it, there is no reason to bog down a thread where everyone else is genuinely looking forward to the release.
Anyway, I'm buying this regardless, I want to see some of the other Daizenshuu get an English release, as these days I don't have the time or patience to track down good deals for the Daizenshuu online.

I think they will sell extremely well. Those Viz Big novels have been out for the almost the entire summer and every time I go to the book store they're always sold out. I mean that isn't concrete evidence but still it has to count for something ! I think if something as rare as a Daizenshuu was to hit the shelves those will be sellouts too. At least where I live.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Well, with 10 the only reason that part of the anime wasn't covered in 5 was that it hadn't been made yet, so they had to wait awhile before putting out a book that covered it (and other odds and ends). That reason doesn't apply anymore, so I don't see incorporating at least the material in 10 on the end of the series into 5 being too much of a problem. Not to mention it would allow them to keep the number of daizenshuu at the magic number 7.SSj_Rambo wrote:I really hope that VIZ doesn't start combining and breaking apart their releases of the Daizenshuu. Even though it may be more logical that way, I'd rather have them presented the same way they were presented in Japan...that and I don't trust VIZ to do it properly.

Oh my god, please tell me that this isn't happening. Dude, please, I think you should be the last person on this forum to tell me about being negative. Just leave it at that, and take me off of your "I'll be an asshole to this guy" list. It's getting old. Just drop it.Captain Awesome wrote:Your comments concerning Viz and their translation of Daizenshuu one have been nothing but negative speculation on your part, you made your point, thats fine, but for some reason you then feel the need to periodically remind us with one line posts consisting of "Viz sucks" and "blah blah blah Street fighter".Pain wrote:

Wait, my printing says March 2003. Complete with boobie Bulma and all.SSj_Rambo wrote:I'm willing to bet that they will at least recolor Bulma's tan lines so that they aren't noticeable in the Roshi picture. I'm also dying to see what's in the extra page that we're getting, and if it will contain the Shenlong Times.
---------------------------------------It must have been VIZ's fourth printing of volume one, that's the only uncensored edition that VIZ has released of volume one. Here's the only other uncensored editions they've released:Raki wrote:Uncut as in no bubbles on Bulma.Pain wrote: HOW uncut? Please explain. You mean uses of profane language? Because Viz's DBZ Vol. 1-14 have that.
-Dragon Ball Volume 1: Fourth Printing uncensored (June 2001)
-Dragon Ball Volume 2: Third Printing uncensored (November 2001)
-Dragon Ball Volume 3: Second Printing uncensored (November 2001)
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.
Hmmm, exactly what edition is it?Raki wrote:Wait, my printing says March 2003. Complete with boobie Bulma and all.
I'm sure they removed the 1 because they have never released anything like this and are unsure whether it will be popular enough to make releasing the rest of the books profitable. So if this books sells a lot than I'm sure that we'll get some more of the books.shotkeeper wrote:I don't think we will have more daizenshuu's, because why else would they remove the ' 1 ' on the cover.

Well they did release a Naruto and One Piece art book...I wonder how those did. But still, I'm sure they are testing the waters for Dragon Ball.SSj_Rambo wrote: I'm sure they removed the 1 because they have never released anything like this and are unsure whether it will be popular enough to make releasing the rest of the books profitable. I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.

By the way, Pain I'm with you bro!
Captain Awesome, I see where you coming from.
But Pain is not trying to be negative because he assumes that all of the coming Daizenshuu are gonna suck. No, I'm sure he can't wait to see it, but he also fears the worst: That Viz will fucked this up, and I sure most people are concerned on this manner.

How many "casual" fans really know what these actually are, though? I mean... I'm pretty sure that if I was to go outside of my usual friends (who only know about these books because of the fangasm I had after I found Daizenshuu #7), I wouldn't be able to find anyone who knew what a Daizenshuu is, even if that person was sitting in a Waldenbooks reading a Dragon Ball graphic novel?Chrono Trigger wrote:I think they will sell extremely well. I'd assume that the Naruto book did pretty well, but One Piece: Color Walk vol. 2 has yet to come out. One Piece isn't really the new hotness in the U.S. that it is in Japan, though.ssgOverlord wrote:Well they did release a Naruto and One Piece art book...I wonder how those did. Yeah, but it also has a "#1" on the original Daizenshuu as well.Forgotten Hero wrote:It is actually called the complete illustrations on the original Daizenshuu as well.

Also, guys, drop the drama. Pain, you're entitled to your opinion, but stop provoking Captain Awesome. He's equally entitled to his own opinion, and even if you feel as though he's going after you, don't egg him on, just ignore it.
