Dragonbox Question
How hard is it to find Dragonboxes? How much do they cost?

Nowadays you can pretty much only get them used, and they're fairly hard to find. Your best bet is to use something like Celga.com, and a single box usually goes for $1000 or so. Frankly, at this point I think collecting the singles release is the better way to go.

You can also buy the individual "R2" dvds, the ones with the neat covers.
Here is a DragonBox link.

Agreed. Hell, I own the boxes and wouldn't pay what they go for these days myself. The only sad part is that it appears the singles won't have the television specials.Herms wrote:Nowadays you can pretty much only get them used, and they're fairly hard to find. Which is a great pity. I really want to see the Bardock TV special in Dragonbox quality.MajinVejitaXV wrote:Agreed. Hell, I own the boxes and wouldn't pay what they go for these days myself. The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I'm actually considering grabbing the Dragonbox singles to replace the two season sets I had to grab to finish my collection, I find myself wanting to watch the Goku and Vegeta fight, but then being pissed off about the orange bricks.
If I had the time and expertise I would love to time Steve Simmon's subs just for those releases.

There was a thread while back that told you how to add all of Steve's subs. I don't think it is legal, but you could just check it out.Captain Awesome wrote:I'm actually considering grabbing the Dragonbox singles to replace the two season sets I had to grab to finish my collection, I find myself wanting to watch the Goku and Vegeta fight, but then being pissed off about the orange bricks.

I know the basics of it, but timing is a problem, as is the way chaptering cuts things up, and makes it very laborious if you want to keep the structure of the dvd identical to the original.Forgotten Hero wrote: There was a thread while back that told you how to add all of Steve's subs. I do own the first two season sets with Steve's subtitles (Hell thats how I justified the purchase to myself) so as long as I own the Dbox singles it's perfectly legal.

I mean, you are copying someones work and using them for your own means. But ehhh, I probably wrong. I'm no lawyer.
It is very difficult to add all the sub-titles. Obtaining them is difficult as well.
It is a tough situation to be in. It always feels like there is a no win situation with Funimation's handling of the DBZ property.

Disagree, I showed the first box to my girlfriend at the time and she had never seen the series...she laughed about how Chiaotzu's head was always cut off, as well as other numerous cropping related screw-ups.SSJ2bardock wrote:And about the cropping, honestly unless your looking for it you don't even notice and it's better than widescreen.
And yes, though I don't think its what you meant, the original format is better than widescreen ;p

But I OWN a copy of the two season sets in question, if I'm mashing together two products that I paid for, for my own personal use, no selling, no distributing , just me and my lounge room, then it is perfectly legal.Forgotten Hero wrote:I mean, you are copying someones work and using them for your own means. When you guys say you "add subtitles", do you mean you put the subtitles directly onto the Dragonbox dvd? Or burn the footage onto a blank dvd, and add the subtitles onto that? Just curious.Captain Awesome wrote:
