I have always really liked DBZ: Legends on PS1. I thought the concept was great and very original, and i don't think any game has really captured the feel of DBZ as close as Legends did.
Now what i think would be a cool game is kind of a remake of legends, but with some minor/major alterations.
The story mode in legends was really great, you got a score based on how well you matched what you did to the fights on the show. For example, if a character died, you would have to let them die, if Goku killed someone with the spirit bomb, then you had to kill them with the spirit bomb and so on. I think adding an element like this to a new game would be sweet.
Multiple characters fighting at once. Legends may have had bad graphics, but it made up for it with 3 on 3 battles, and not Tag battles (although you can tag from more than 3 people) but 3 on 3 all at once, and any combination of them. (2 on 1 and so on)
So, what I am proposing is that we bring back this element. I wouldn't mind if the game was on 360 but had ps2 graphics, as long as you could do 3 on 3 and so on.
In addition, Legends also had events triggered by the defeat of a character, so when Krillin died , Goku became SSJ, and If you brought Goten and Trunks in they would fuse into Gotenks, and what not. this was really cool, and could easily be used in a new game, with cool rendered cut scenes for these events.
Commentary during fights was also cool, but they used that in Tenkaichi 3 so they could easily do it again.
I was never really a fan of the power struggle thing at the bottom, real time moves is fine by me. But what I am saying is there should be tag moves or triple moves where all the characters do a combo on one or all of the members of the other team. That would be sweet.
Music in legends was good, I don't really care what they use as long as it's catchy and fast paced, but no XTREEME METALLL!!!
Some kind of level up system, maybe not in story mode but a separate mode to develop characters as you see fit.
Well, that's all I can think of at the moment, if there is anything you guys would like to add to me idea feel free. I am interested in finding out what you guys think.
EDIT: I have also always thought a DB/DBZ game that played like FF7 would be really cool. Where limits would be replaced by transformations or super duper attacks and so on.
Interesting Game Idea.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

You know, there used to be a Game-X-Change near my house that had not one, but two copies of Legends for the Saturn. For various reasons I had to put off buying a copy, and then the stored closed! It still makes me sad...
So yeah, I'm all in favor of a new game with Legends' engine, if only so that I can actually get to finally play that kind of game.
