If it's marketed well enough and gets decent reviews people will go see it. It's not gonna put up number like The Dark Knight but it COULD be decent. Of course there are a lot of changes but hopefully it'll still be a good movie. They are all very capable actors who are familiar with manga. Chatwin read the whole thing for christ sakes!
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

So none of this happened in Dragon Ball ?
The Orange Gi/ The Blue Gi
Orange Gi still has the Kame symbol
Goku uses a staff
Goku still likes to eat a lot
4 star Dragon Ball still retains it's significance
Possible animated portion
Bulma is still a genious
Bulma still meets Goku and they immediately search for the DB's.
Master Roshi is still a perverted old hermit.
Piccolo was sealed using the Mafuba Technique
A tournament
Yamcha is still a bandit living in the dessert
I mean I know some of you guys just want to go to the movies with several volumes of the Manga and be able to follow it along panel for panel but seriously....

Bolded = stuff that's not been confirmed for the movie.Chrono Trigger wrote:So none of this happened in Dragon Ball ?

And no, Goku did not wear an orange shirt with blue pants in Dragon Ball.

All of that stuff HAS been confirmed. Either in interviews or by the actors while they were filming and they wrote about the stuff in their BLOGS! For example:
Chow Yun-Fat interview
He saw the Japanese magazine which the press brought from Japan, the cover girl is Japanese actress Akina Minamai, and said, “Oh! Master Roshi loves her! Kawaii nee! (Cute, in Japanese)” he laughed and sat back in the chair and said in a deep voice “Welcome to Durango! Nice to meet you!”
He then talked about the Character of Master Roshi, “He is funny, very funny. (laugh) This is the first time to play a manga character in my career. Comic and movie is different, so I hope you will like my acting.”
And about his preparation for the role, “The script was very well written, I didn’t worry about it. Character is very fascinating and dramatic. The important thing for an actor is not money or work, but whether the character is fascinating or not.” He explained the similarities between him and Master Roshi, “He and I love ladies. But my wife is always around me, so I can’t be looking at ladies so much.”
He gave his opinion on Justin Chatwin, “I think he is handsomer than the manga character. I’m sure that the fans of the original manga will love him. And you guys, what did you think when you heard I would play Master Roshi?” the press said they were very surprised.
Chow replied with, “Who do you think suits the role of Master Roshi?” NO! Chow Yun-Fat is best! “Cheers! I will treat you to dinner later. Anyway, the movie is an adventure following the original manga and animation. Thank you for your support.”

That doesn't confirm he's a pervert. o_O Roshi liked the ladies in the edited dub, yet didn't do anything lecherous. In order for the character to be a pervert, he'd have to be trying to cop feels and sneak a few peaks, as well as the occasional "puff-puff." Neither of which are confirmed to be part of the movie character.

No I got that part. I'm just saying that it's not the dub so I wouldn't expect for anything dub related to be apart of this movie. Well you know besides Chris Sabat voicing Shenron. You're right it doesn't confirm that he is a pervert but I'm gonna assume Chow Yun Fat will do at least one perverted thing in this movie. Another interesting rumor I heard about this movie a while ago was that a marching band version of "Makfushigi" is going to played. It's supposed to played at Tournament as it opens up...

Yeah I know. It would be pretty cool though. The composer for the movie is supposed to be a huge fan of Dragon Ball so you never know. Another thing people aren't considering are the many locations that scenes were filmed at. The characters are gonna visit Forests, Mountains, Desserts, Futuristic Cities, Caves, Volcanoes, Temples, and the bottom of the Ocean. If if thing the movie will be visually exciting. It's cool to be honest with ourselves and point out all the negative but you gotta look at the other side too.

Wow, you are just flat out wrong. I am not saying this movie will be awesome, but to say that it's not even similar to Dragonball at all is just plain stupidity.Tsukento wrote:Considering all the changes done, it doesn't seem likely. The movie itself doesn't even resemble Dragon Ball in the slightest bit and seems to only be Dragon Ball by name alone.
This is already looking out to be another Street Fighter: The Movie disaster.

Now that we all saw "Lord Piccolo" I'll just appear and confirm what I said long time ago - the only thing in this movie that reminds me of the original DB are the title and the names!
But since even the title is changed from Dragon Ball to Dragonball, it just makes me sure, yet again, that they never had rights for the "Dragon Ball" in a first place, because they are "almighty hollywood, that nobody dares to sue".

Hooray the return of, Well, YOU.
Anyway, Hollywood is constantly getting sued. Seriously right now, FOX is suing Warner Brothers over the rights for Watchmen. A Movie that is already completed, claiming they have the rights to the name or something. Hmm. It's been well know for years that Warner was going to make a Watchmen movie, but now all of a sudden FOX says they have the rights, and they are actually taking Warner to court in January.

Even if that's true, doesn't that go for character names as well? Bulma, Piccolo and such aren't exactly common names. If they wanted to avoid copyright issues wouldn't they have changed the names of them as well?VEGETA_DTX wrote:But since even the title is changed from Dragon Ball to Dragonball, it just makes me sure, yet again, that they never had rights for the "Dragon Ball" in a first place, because they are "almighty Hollywood, that nobody dares to sue".
I think a lot of people would have been happy if they just changed all the names, considering SOME PEOPLE think this movie doesn't even resemble DragonBall, which is a crock of horse hooey.
OFF TOPIC: What ever happened to KingBroly? You know the guy that posted 100 times in one day. The return of VEGETA_DTX reminded me.

Ok ok, if I really threat this tread then I won't bother you...
@Bura, I know a lot of movies with the name Nick in it, with the name Ben in it, and even with non human names repeated in many movies.
Its like with the windows folders, the title(name of the folder) is the primary thing and inside of him you can do anything, so you can have the same files inside of two different folders and even though they are completely the same they are still both files for themselves.
Ok in reality it's a little bit different, and they might get sued even if they change both title and names...but in that case it would be a lot harder to convince the CORRUPTED judges(who would btw play stupid in that case, telling that everything you say is just a pure coincidence) that you are right.

Different bits of merchandise have used both "Dragon Ball" and "DragonBall", so the fact that Fox went with "Dragonball" for this movie isn't a change at all.VEGETA_DTX wrote:But since even the title is changed from Dragon Ball to Dragonball, it just makes me sure, yet again, that they never had rights for the "Dragon Ball" in a first place, because they are "almighty hollywood, that nobody dares to sue".
