I'm not expecting my socks to be blown off, but with Toriyama's involvement, at the very least I expect to be entertained.

Of course part of me wants something like the Trunks or Bardock TV specials, but I know that's asking too much.

It doesn't look like this will be set long enough after the events of the Buu arc to contradict anything in GT. For that, you'd have to go with DragonBall Online.
Forgotten Hero wrote:Cool, theory! I thought it was confermed that Avo and Kado were the villains chasing Tabule around the universe. I'm not sure if I got all that information right, but that is how I understand it as of now.
The thing about them pursuing Tahble was in the last Jump scan, but as far as I know they haven't been called anything like "villians" or "enemies" yet.

Well, this is rather interesting. Toyble, the guy who does the DBAF fan manga, made a blog post recently where he talks about the upcoming anime special, among other things. And according to him, it seems the anime tour will now be open to the public. He starts out saying how he wishes they make it open to the public:
本編の前にアニメツアーで流すドラゴンボールの最新作を流せば
絶対に客は入ると思うですが、このアイディアどーすかね?
なんとか公開にこぎつけて欲しいです。
He goes on to talk about other stuff, then at the end of the post "Ah, it looks like the movie will be open to the public, so that's good for now":
あ、映画は公開するみたいですねとりあえずヨカッタ。
What's throwing me off is that he talks about both the live-action movie and the new special, so which is he talking about? I was under the impression that you could only get in if you recieved a ticket from Jump, but does anyone have any more information?

Hmmm...interesting. I suppose shooting him a let would be too difficult?

Ah crap, never mind. It looks like he was talking about the live-action movie after all. In the comments, there was a big debate over whether or not the live-action movie would actually be publically distributed, or whether it was just going to be shelved. It's just a rumor that the live-action movie is going to be shelved (right?), so that's what Toyble was talking about when he said "the movie will be shown to the public". Oh well.

Oh, that. One source said it was going to be canned while another says the suits were wiping the saliva off their white collars.

No it hasn't. Which makes me wonder, does Toei still release trailers for it's features these days? And how do they go about presenting them? Do they so it through in-theatre trailers or by prviews on their DVD's?

Question!!! When is the first screening of the Movie/Special? I originally remember hearing Sept.21...But Wiki says November...Yes I know Wiki is not always reliable. But I figure maybe something changed.

They were talking about the Jump Anime Tour. Not the live action movie.

I hope [Taburu] isn't Vegeta's brother.
He looks like the love child of Mystic Gohan and Vegeta.

You know, a couple people have told me he looks like their son. (The mini-bangs, the less wild spikes, etc.)

My, Chi-Chi would throw a fit if that were true....

One of the things that I have been most curious about for this special is what they will do for the opening and ending. Half of me thinks they will use the classic ones (Cha-la Head Cha-la and an ending revolving around the movie itsels) and half of me thinks they will do something totally for both, since this is a different kind of DBZ special/movie.

As long as they get Hironobu Kageyama to do it I'm fine with it!

I really hadn't thought about music they will use in the special. I wonder if they'll recycle themes from Z or make entirely new music. Hmm. That's something interesting to think about.
