It will. Everything ends up on the internet.

I'm hoping it shows up just with small groups of fansubbers- the kind of people who actually take the files down when something is lisenced because they care about the shows. What with the acquiring and dubbing and designing the box and all, it'll be months before we can see an official release over here. I'd rather not wait a year to see the movie if I'm just gonna buy it reguardless.

..Why would Toei release the special on the internet for free?, of course it's going to be bootleggers filming it and throwing it up on bittorrent, what do you expect?
I never said I expected Toei to release it on the internet for free...I never even said I expected them to release it online. I just said that if anyone was going to release it on the internet I would want it to be Toei (with the permission of Jump, Shueisha and everyone else with legal rights). I don't see why me hoping for this awesome movie to not be illegally spread throughout the world, therefore robbing the creators of the deserved earnings is so shocking.

I know that this movie will most likely make it's way to the web like everything else does, but with so many people voicing their support of that I thought that I might as well voice my support against that illegal action.

I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up getting the R2 release, rather than wait for Toei to give it to FUNimation, and for FUNimation take forever to give it a shitty dub.

Anyway, I'm still pretty excited, I really hope it's at least an hour and a half.

Dude its in fucking Japan. There is nothing wrong with downloading something you have no practical legal way to see. If there is a real dvd release you have a sorta point. But otherwise thats just being a self righteous ass.

I completely agree. Submitting torrents or files of this special would be practically robbing the creators blind, with total disregard of the hard work they've went through to create it. Anyone who downloads this without the permission from Jump or Toei animation shouldn't call themselves fans. So anyway, will someone please post a link to the torrent or rar file of the new dbz special when it comes out? Man I am dying to see it, preferably illegally.

Man, I was just about to write an angry reply until I read the last part of your post.

I know once this special does get out there for download, a few people are going to get all up in arms about it when people who didn't intend the screenings start talking about their favorite parts, but honestly, the majority of us will just be happily watching while we wait for the dvd release.

We know it's wrong, but folks will be ALL over this new special. It will be online in a matter of days.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

I know what you're getting at...but I doubt it's going to be released to DVD right after the screenings.
Trans rights, now!

That's like implying nobody should read scanslations since an original Japanese printing exists. :?

Right. Even when there are English translations of things, it's sometimes really silly to refuse or ignore those kind of things altogether. For example, I'm gonna keep reading the latest One Piece scanslations, rather than wait 10 years for Viz to catch up.

So you think it's very likely that they'll put it out on DVD, and relatively soon?

Considering the apparent success of the other Dragon Ball-related DVDs, yeah, I'd think so.

Oh Jesus Christ.

This thing is six fucking months away from even getting a fucking dvd release in Japan. The thing is not even getting a fucking full theatrical release over there. As far as I'm concerned until there is an officical release with english subtitles, there is no english release.

So wait, you're just going to ignore TOEI's right to keep something they made to themselves until demand is higher?

They did it with the entire Dragonball franchise except the movies.

I see Toei waiting a couple of years to release this, unless if they plan to release it with the Dragonball 10th Anniversary Movie in April of 2009.

Also, I don't know if this has been brought up before, and it won't pertain to many people but I'm sure Herms will find it handy if he hasn't seen it yet, but on the official Jump website they have directions to all of the theatres that the 40th Anniversary Tour will be stopping at:

Sorry, but the second I see that torrent, I'm downloading that shit. And then the fansub.

But, of course, I'll also be purchasing the DVD when it's released here. I just wanna see it as soon as possible!
