Yeah, a ton of people were asking FUNimation on a constant basis as to why the show was pulled and if it was canceled. At the time, even they had no idea about it. They weren't told the show was no longer going to air, meanwhile, CN was stating they had no plans to even rerun the series.

It wasn't until someone got a hold of someone at Toei Animation's US division and found out that CN pulled it because they didn't like how it wasn't pulling in massive ratings (aka Naruto-sized) and that the dub was far too serious compared to the 4Kids dub.

In other words, CN wanted it to be like the 4Kids dub and expected Naruto-sized ratings even though they would not allow FUNi to get away with certain things that Naruto was allowed to do and would even delay episodes for another week to air a surprise RERUN of the god damned Naruto movie.

Naruto became Cartoon Network's new DBZ. When they found out One Piece wasn't to their liking (even though it was confirmed to actually be GAINING ratings when the dub change occurred), they dropped it at a cliffhanger.

That was what ultimately killed Toonami. They pulled One Piece and Dragon Ball Z, kept an hour of Naruto, then started airing episodes of Bakugan and Blue Dragon that had ALREADY DEBUTED EARLIER IN THE MORNING.

FUNi's still dubbing the series and releasing it on DVD. They have no intention on stopping. It's just incredibly sad to see how royally fucked up it is that One Piece can't seem to catch a break here despite the amount of potential it has.

YTV will pick it up I assume. Even then, I'm willing to bet that ratings will be on the rise at a slug-like pace due to the internet.

Thats good. I personally think Shippuuden sucks compared to the original, I just want to see how the dub is handled. (And I want the Shippuuden movies here, I think those are actually good.)

Just Cartoon Network, and maybe Sci-Fi Channel.

That's...really about it.
You should try to check out the Funimation channel. I had a channel that had a 4-hour block of their programming, and it was alright. They air the original Dragonball.(At least they did)

I personally prefer Jaleel White.

I had my doubts about the Funi dub(Very small ones, mind you. And mostly about what CN would do to it) but when I heard Nami say "crap" in that first episode, I was like "Oh yeah, its on now!" because you don't ever hear that word on kids programming(Unless you watched Hey Arnold!)
Its sad it got pulled because of that, though. Kids television is too watered down nowadays.

Also, someone said they loved Reboot. I do too! I think you, and many other Reboot fans, will be happy to read this little tidbut of news. :D

Ryan Drummond was the guy who voiced Sonic in Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 and a few other games and he was really popular. Then 4kids came in and replaced him with Jason Griffith out of nowhere and people are pretty pissed.

It's all over youtube if you wanna check it out.

Speaking of Toonami, Dragon Ball, and One Piece, I find it infinitely amusing how Funi's using their old DBZ tagline ("The Saga Continues!") for One Piece now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qGY2voAqZU

*Still wish CN had kept Funi's OP dub on the air...

Does anyone actually plan on using Toonami Jetstream as a replacement for the block itself? And does anyone even use it period?

Just checked to see what shows it has; absolutely nothing save for Samurai Jack has me even remotely interested. ^^;;

Blue Dragon - Lost interest in it at episode 12 or so of the subs.
Hikaru no Go - Eh. Remember this from Viz's version of Shounen Jump; it was average as in something I might glance at on TV, but not something I'd go out of my way for online.
Kiba - Sounds like Mary-Sue.
Mar - Smells like Mary-Sue.
Naruto - Please don't even get me started. >_<
Samurai Jack - Enjoyed this back when it was on SVES :3 Good stuff. Maybe if I have absolutely nothing else to do I might check it out.
Transformers Animated - Meh.
Zatchbell - Never really impressed me all too much back when it was on Toonami; also the art style is a huge turn off.
On hiatus.

I almost got into Jetstream when they had Dragonball on it, but decided that it was worth the time and they soon took it off anyway.

Oh yeah! I think I might've heard they had the old Ocean Saiyajin arc episodes on it at one point.

If they brought some db and/or dbz episodes onto Jetstream I might give it a try.

Oh, Hikaru no Go?

...

I have no idea why I liked that manga series as much as I did. Though, now that I think about it...

...animation doesn't really improve a story about playing a board game.

I've never seen the anime, but the Hikaru no Go manga is very good. It was my favorite series of the ones Toriyama World scanslated back in the day.

Forget that. I'd have more luck getting FUNi to use Dragon Box masters for their DVDs. That's how difficult it is to get the damn channel.

Wait, what? Funimation has their own "chanenl"? Is it an online thing, if so could you please provide a link?

No, it's a TV channel only available to those who get a very specific cable package from...Verizon, I think?

Jaleel White was the one who voiced Sonic back in the early 90's with Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and the "SatAM" series. He's also Steve Urkel. ;D

PS, I always get confused between Ryan Drummond and Brian Drummond.

ETA: Did everyone forget about Toonami Jetstream?

Does it air Dragonball or Dragonball Z? If it doesn't I wouldn't be surprised if they start airing the DBZ season sets after they are all released.

It used to air Dragonball, but they took it off their schedule a few months ago. The channel hasn't aired DBZ yet, as Cartoon Network might still have it.

OK. Cartoon Network hasn't aired Dragonball Z in nearly a year...sadly.
