And Toreto, I was referring to the first image of Vegeta posted (the one with a bit of the image chopped off the top and bottom).

I'm in the process of making a comparison video for all.
Here is a low-low quality clip of the first clip:
[Link Removed, please see my later post for an update on it]
I'll add subtitles to it and make a high quality version shortly if people want it. That way we can see the 2 together in action. (by the way, both videos are proper aspect ratio, but its fixed width of the DBox resolution, so the widescreen is smaller than it should be. This actually 1) helps improve the sharpness of the widescreen version and 2) show how little is truely gained on the sides. The sharpness issue is not seen in the low quality download)

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
DB DBox color corrections & DBox color corrections.

The season set gain is almost nothing.ect5150 wrote:I'm in the process of making a comparison video for all.

The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Very interesting comparison, i must say. It helps a lot when you've got them both playing side by side.ect5150 wrote:I'm in the process of making a comparison video for all.

That comparison is useful! It's pretty ridiculous how much vertical space they cropped from the film for the sake of a false "widescreen" effect, even if I do prefer the remastering methods.
Actually, speaking of remastering, I wonder how possible it would be to replicate FUNimation's remastering of the film? If we could perfect the method, we'd be able to have the full resolution of the film without the lower-quality mastering.

Well, no one else has film masters so :p

I have severely underestimated the process used to restore the film.DBHighDefinition wrote:http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VSb87n9f4Ec&fmt=18Tweaker wrote:That comparison is useful! Write an AVS script, apply some DVNR and adjust the color saturation = bingo. Remastering FUNi style. Not sure why you'd want that, but to each his own.Tweaker wrote:Actually, speaking of remastering, I wonder how possible it would be to replicate FUNimation's remastering of the film? Actually, I'm interested in what the DBOX would look like with colormatch to FUNi. Just out of sheer curiosity.

So it's not just me then. Anyway, DBOX stuff is grain heaven on a LCD monitor that's for sure lol. I guess it's supposed to look like that opposed to an older TV which doesn't show much grain. Same thing would apply to an HDTV, I would assume...Raki wrote:I've noticed that as well.SSJToreto wrote:Is it just me or does grain show up more on a LCD monitor compared to a normal CRT TV?

Not really. I have an LCD monitor and a Plasma TV, and I don't see the grain any moreso than I do when I first watched the DragonBoxes on an SD CRT.SSJToreto wrote:So it's not just me then. I guess it depends on the person watching it. I can definetly see it dancing around all over the screen when i'm watching on my LCD monitor. Maybe my eyes see too much...MajinVejitaXV wrote:Not really.
