I was unaware that you have already seen this movie. I mean, you clearly have a full opinion on how good and like Dragon ball it is, so how was it?

My point is that don't judge it until you see it, and I think this promo looks cool. Not "OMG Just like the Manga" but it looks cool and fun. I know I will enjoy it unless it is utter crap, which as of yet I haven't been shown anything that would make me think that it is.

I think that opinion is rather silly. I do think crying foul before we have more details isn't the best idea, but to wait until we ALREADY GAVE THEM OUR MONEY is a bit TOO lenient.

Where does one draw the line of what "is" or "isn't" DragonBall though? As far as I'm concerned, a live-action loose adaptation of the early story shouldn't be considered any less a part of the franchise than Path to Power or the Chinese movie.

All were made by people and studios aside from the original creator, and both deviate from the manga to a certain degree. Even "Alternate Universe"-type fanfics don't get accused of being "not DragonBall," just because they're styled or narrated differently.

As much as I saw, there wasn't any Dragon Ball in that promo.

When I saw the Transformers trailer, I watched it a million times. I can barely look at this with a straight face.
Well I'm sorry you feel that way. Guess you won't be going to movies on April 10, 2009. To me the whole thing was only 40 seconds so there is a lot of stuff that didn't show plus there wasn't any sound. No it's not Dragon Ball the way we know but I feel it's worth seeing. It's just a movie based on Dragon Ball. :? To call it rape seems to be over dramatic though. You act like you're surprised or some shit!
I came to a compromise, I figured it would be kinda good, but right now it looks bad, even worse than Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat combined.
And to think, there are gonna be sequels... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck...

At least with Transformers 2 we'll be getting Arcee, Jetfire, Sideswipe, Soundwave and even Rainn Wilson.
Plus Megatron as a Tank, like the G2 toy, I can't fucking wait!

I'd go see something that wasn't Dragonball.

I want to see Dragonball. Not something that references Dragonball.
Well that's not the case now is it? So what can you do? Go see the movie and try and enjoy it for what it is? Or just don't go see it all? It's not like the people that made this movie really had any of us in mind when they were making it. Clearly the final product reflects that. From the instant we knew this movie was being made way back a year ago, we knew that it wouldn't be anything like what we as individuals imagined. I'm not surprised and I'm gonna go see it and try and enjoy it for what it is. A fun martial arts/adventure movie based about Dragon Ball. I still have my manga, my anime collection, and my video games. I know what Dragon Ball is and nobody can ever change that. I don't know why everyone else can't think of it like that. All people can say is "RAPE! IT HURTS MY EYES! KILL THE BEAST!" When in reality it's not that serious. Seriously go back and watch Super Mario Bros and Street Fighter. This movie is no where close to being that bad. It's not. :?
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

Well, it goes both ways. I have my reasons hating what I've seen, you have your reasons for thinking it isn't so bad. It's taste, not fact.

I don't mean to call you an idiot, don't take it this way, but you can not, and I mean CAN NOT judge a movie until you have seen it. END OF STORY. If you don't want to pay full price then go see a matinee or something. Or Download the movie illegally like lots of assholes do. I don't care, but to say a movie is bad without seeing it is like saying a book is bad without reading it, or a song is bad without hearing it.
And I honestly have no Idea how anyone can say this looks worse than Street Fighter. Seriously. There is no way you can make that assumption from this 30 second promo reel.

I've noticed that for a while now, and I think that if nothing else, that's one major element that this movie appears to be getting totally right, or so it seems at least.

I'm in the generation of fans that started with Toonami, so I totally empathize with the feeling of having "missed the party", experiencing disappointment, and wanting to experience it myself. But I can't, that's how life is. Time is a bitch. The party is over. Kageyama, Kikuchi, and Maeda are off the sauce now; Yanami almost OD'd; Yamamoto got arrested; Toriyama's not going to light trash cans on fire and hang from the chandelier anymore. We can't get the band back together, and even if we could, everyone's either old, in poor health, or calmed way the fuck down. Best we're going to get, and are getting, is a party that's almost entirely devoid of the magic that made the original one so awesome that we even want more.

Reminds me of wolverine's teaser.

With sound, in hi-def and with no scenes missing it should look great.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

The end result of a film either garners a fair amount of praise, or negative reception.

If the folks want to complain about the film, let them. They have every right to concerning this film. The only reason I see somebody bickering back AT the said person complaining is if their remarks included something along the lines of: " i don't know why other people like this film.. " blah blah blah. Other than that, I don't see any harm in someone bashing the film to no end.

So let's talk about the footage we've seen. It didn't get me pumped. However, the scenes with Bulma are interesting. It's YUCKY!

Also, is it just me, or does it feel as if the final battle is going to occur upon a setpiecev(ex. The rocky setting Goku and Piccolo fight upon.) that actually looks and feels like a giant setpiece...ugh instead of creating the illusion that they're actually on a real rocky setting. I guess it's the lighting.

Wait until you see more seems like the general concensus. What surprises me is the reaction in this thread.

I mean, this board always been well under control and not full of useless statements and post (this might be one too :D) but this thread seems full of name-calling and "Bah your opinion SUCKS" as opposed to everyone being calm and undestanding of peoples opinions (though some may be wrongly formed).

This movie doesn't so much as ruin the franchise, as it's ruining the fandom.

Doesn't look like they got all the special effects finished yet, as there's a shot of Chatku motioning his hand without any energy emanating. Is there really a "bullet time" shot in there? Must've missed it, I think the only time "bullet time" really occurs in DB is when SSJ Goku confronts Cyborg Tao and those thugs in DBZ before the Cell Games. I won't be surprised if this is a film that takes place on "our Earth". From the brief shot of James' Lord Piccolo, looks like the yellow color of his elder form's skin is staying, blah.

Good find, Jappo.
