Do you consider the Popo and Goku interaction to be in that saga? Because I thought that was pretty funny.Rocketman wrote:There wasn't a whole lot of rollicking good belly laughs in the King Piccolo Saga either... But as you said, there wasn't much humor in the Cell arc, and this is basically "DBZ" Dragon Ball, so...
Well, no, there was one humorous moment, when Roshi commented on Bulma's panties being dull gray.

lol true that.Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:She did ride a bike, though.
still though, rode a bike but wasn't this fighter/biker chick person shooting around and being all tough. She was this girly girl who merely wanted a boyfriend and yeah she's adventurous but to me here she seems odd and grossly OOC. Meh, basically makes me feel like crap. She's one of my favoite characters, besides Vegeta. Makes me SHUDDER at the idea of a sequel.

This trailer made me relieved that it doesn't contain any Vegeta. If Movie Bulma = mild-tempered version of Blonde Launch, and Movie Chi-Chi = high school "It" girl; I don't want to know what they'd do to Vegeta. He's one of my favorites up there with Goku.
One of my absolute worst-case scenario theories is that they'd change Vegeta's gender and turn said female Vegeta into a rival love interest for Goku.
I know that's really out there, but with what I've seen with other characters...
On hiatus.
Okay I need to know something, is anyone here going to see this movie? No seriously, I'm not being my usual sarcastic self, I'm actually wondering if there is anyone on this fourm going to see the Dragonball movie, willingly to spend 10 to 12 bucks on a ticket, maybe a extra $10 for popcorn and soda combo, sit in a dark room full of strangers who most likely had never watched the original Anime, and REALLY watch this film from title card to credits without walking out? Come on, raise those hands people.
I'm going to see it.

Same. If its promotional teasers and trailers make it look like a good movie, I can easily treat this as an action-fantasy movie in another DB continuity. Just like Transformers wasn't part of the cartoon's continuity.SSj Kaboom wrote:You know it, partner.Scarz wrote:Okay I need to know something, is anyone here going to see this movie? Even if it looks crappy, I'll probably at least wait to rent it.

Correction: I will not go see it as long as it is with my own money. I also don't know anyone who wants to see it or is willing to give me money to go see it. Instead, if I see it, it will be when it is out on DVD.JAPPO wrote:Everyone who has ever visited this site in their life is going to see it. Don't kid yourself or this board.

No will not support this. Might torrent it but feels like a waste of bandwidth. Maybe if Fox pays me to watch it.Scarz wrote:Okay I need to know something, is anyone here going to see this movie? I'm going to go and see it as soon as possible (probably at the first public showing).
Why?, because It's a great excuse to force my friends to watch Dragonball.
I did the same thing for the TF live action movie, a few hours before we went to the movie we sat and watched a handful of G1 episodes, then the 1986 movie. Though they weren't that interested, they did actually appreciate that before seeing the live action adaption, they got to see the original.
For Dragonball I'm thinking about going in a sort of semi chronological order, starting with the Bardock special, then the tenth anniversary movie, then probably three or so episodes from the fight between Son and Daimao, possibly finishing up with the episode where Raditz tells Goku of his origins.
I'm not to sure about including the Bardock special, it does kind of spoil things..
Sure this doesn't change the fact I think this movie is an absolute joke, and is a testament to the inability of the film industry at large to understand an animated property well enough in order to adapt it into live action, but that won't stop me from having an enjoyable evening of Dragonball with my friends.

This is how I see things too. It's not about the movie being good or bad, it's about the experience of seeing it. If you don't see it because Piccolo isn't green enough or Goku frowns too much in the trailers, you won't know what you're missing.Sure this doesn't change the fact I think this movie is an absolute joke, and is a testament to the inability of the film industry at large to understand an animated property well enough in order to adapt it into live action, but that won't stop me from having an enjoyable evening of Dragonball with my friends.
Personally, I've been to see tons of movies I thought would be terrible. Sometimes they surprise you, and those times are well worth it.

I won't go out of my way to see it in theaters. That's not to say I'm "morally" against it or anything like that. Just that, if I put aside my fanrage, forget Dragonball and watch this trailer, I just see a movie I'm not very interested in seeing.
Though, I'll probably end up browsing my way through it for the good parts when it's leaked online.
I know, I know... We're not supposed to talk about pirating, but it's the truth.

Eh, I might see it. Might not.
It's up in the air at the moment. We have a good FIVE MONTHS before the movie actually comes out, close to half a year! I think I'll know whether or not I'll actually go to see it around 3-4 months from now.
Mai is hot. I like the Chichi costume.

Anyway, I'm STILL stradling the fence on this one, and damn am I ever chafing.
