I'm shaky on this still- some stuff looks good, some of it hurts me like a hammer to the brain. But I'm, still seeing it on opening day because I need to know myself just how good or bad it is, so that I can properly debate it with whomever I end up doing so with.
I've also been waiting years for a live action Piccolo in hopes that he freaking gets a proper de-shirting like every other DBZ male senshi, not that whole 'half-and-half- job he usually gets stuck with. Of course... this movie may possibly even sink that glimmer of hope by turning my green man yellow. If this stays so and said awaited scene appears with a yellow vampire instead.... there may be someone with a concussion in the theatre < <
It all remains to be seen. the trailer doesn't make me any more or less hopeful than I was before.

I'm not going to see it. It looks like hundreds of other crappy movies that I will never waste my time with. Seriously, if you take the fan goggles off for a moment what about this movie looks good?JAPPO wrote:Everyone who has ever visited this site in their life is going to see it. Don't kid yourself or this board.
I saw the trailer with sound. It's worse than before. The trailer had cards with the characters names on it, because if it didn't, people wouldn't know who they were! It just screams DRAGONBALL to me.

Yeah, I don't like the eclispse idea.. This movie looks like power rangers and The Matrix mixed into one.MisterFlashdude wrote:I d'no about you, but usually when I say "It looks decent", it's usually followed by something along the lines of "But I think I'm looking for something better".Jackal puFF wrote:What's wrong with you people?

You won't pay 7-10 bucks to watch it in a theater, but you will pay 7-10 bucks to rent it?Kendamu wrote:Correction: I will not go see it as long as it is with my own money. I also don't know anyone who wants to see it or is willing to give me money to go see it. Instead, if I see it, it will be when it is out on DVD.
Ten strokes on the ol' e-penis.What exactly do you gain from doing that?
I love how they had to use title cards to tell you who each actor/actress is supposed to be.
Trans rights, now!

Oh, I understand the basic reason for doing it, but it seems kind of silly. As if he is taking the movie sucking(?) personally, as if it really hurts him.Olivier Hague wrote:Fun at the expense of the movie? Literally?Chibi Mystic Gohan wrote:What exactly do you gain from doing that?
I mean, go see the movie and make fun of it or whatever, but at least pay for the right movie...

I don't know how anyone could still want to see this movie after seeing that dreadful trailer. It wasn't impressive at all. After a movie like Fearless you tend to expect more in a martial arts movie than cork screw flips. Everything in the trailer looked like it belonged on the Sci-Fi Channel. I really don't want to see this movie anymore.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I will definitely see it. As a fan and a critic I feel obligated to see the result. After waiting all this time, and talking about it so much, how could I not? Even if the quality of the film doesn’t kill me, the curiosity certainly would.Scarz wrote:Okay I need to know something, is anyone here going to see this movie? No seriously, I'm not being my usual sarcastic self, I'm actually wondering if there is anyone on this fourm going to see the Dragonball movie, willingly to spend 10 to 12 bucks on a ticket, maybe a extra $10 for popcorn and soda combo, sit in a dark room full of strangers who most likely had never watched the original Anime, and REALLY watch this film from title card to credits without walking out? Come on, raise those hands people.
I'm going to see it.
After watching the trailer.... sweet. Opening day, baby.
Uh...every movie of this type (a large number of major characters) does that. X-Men 1 and 2 did, Fantastic Four did, the Avengers movie probably will...SonEric84 wrote:I love how they had to use title cards to tell you who each actor/actress is supposed to be.
Honestly? The car that appears for a second or so is a major concern? And just what the hell is up with that "I belong in the fast and the furious" yellow car?

Hehe, it is a bit silly to whine over a car. I mean, DB could have a handful of normal cars, not all of them are futuristic aircars. I really don't have any issues with the film myself. I mean, many other live-action adaptions of comics and such had major changes and differences to their original sources yet when a manga gets a live-action movie, THEY HAVE TO BE FAITHFUL?
We'll get martial arts and fighting, we'll get live-action versions of characters and that's good enough for me. Sure Goku wasn't exactly the stiff teenager with the straight face but I doubt Peter Parker was character who lol-fully supported that stupid pop-culture fad of anxiety by randomly getting an emo-cut to represent himself as "bad". I wash my hands of expecting a faithful adaption, WHAT I expect is a new twist on the franchise and a decent film.
So far, despite having a generic and cliche trailer(slow paced clips with narration, clips flying at you for a second, spoiler kiss, split second action sequences, title, the end), I'm still looking forward to seeing how the film will turn out.

We have to realize this is Dragon Ball, not Dragon Ball Z. Those scenes of Goku fighting those two guys are very early on the movie, he still hasn't met Roshi, so that fight wasn't an incredible display of Goku's power because it wasn't supposed to. Do you remember Goku's favorite attack on early DB, the Jan-Ken-Pon attack? that's the kind of fighting style Goku had. Simple, not so fast that we wouldn't be able to see him.
We know for a fact there will be lots of flying, and the Kamehameha for instance, and we didn't see anything close to it in this trailer/teaser. We haven't seeing anything yet, only a glimpse. Goku will get stronger in his journey on this movie, and he will face Piccolo in the final battle, which should only be at the level of the Goku vs. Piccolo fight at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai.
Will this movie be bad or good, who knows.., but this trailer/teaser hasn't showed enough info to make a final decision.

I'm sure, on a X-men forum, or a Spiderman forum, fans of those series were just as worried about the movies not being faithful to their favorite serieS.Captain-Sora wrote:I mean, many other live-action adaptions of comics and such had major changes and differences to their original sources yet when a manga gets a live-action movie, THEY HAVE TO BE FAITHFUL?
