Live-action movie trailer
Looked more like unfinished CGI to me, but fair enough. Not a lot I should say.The Time Traveller wrote:The Fireball was CGI, the Kamehameha was definitely CGI.JAPPO wrote:I for one can't wait until we see the CGI. Notice no CGI was in that trailer. They are saving it.
And there was no kamehameha in this trailer.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Or the "teaser" promo was culled from a print where the special effects weren't finished. Really, we still have nearly half a year before this thing hits theaters, it's logical to assume certain effects could still be in the process of being developed, tooled, retooled, whatever. That's an optimistic view of mine on this whole thing, anyhow.JAPPO wrote:I for one can't wait until we see the CGI. Notice no CGI was in that trailer. They are saving it.

I certainly hope that's the case but I can't be optimistic about this anymore. I don't wanna get kicked in the balls again.Conan the SSJ said: Or the "teaser" promo was culled from a print where the special effects weren't finished. I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

I’m with you on that, but I don’t see what utility is derived from turning all the girls into leather-clad assassins. So they fight. And they look hot. That doesn’t necessarily make them better characters. If their personalities don’t get the same amount of attention then they’ll just end up being shallow.Rocketman wrote:Normally, I'm not the kinda guy to bitch about that sort of thing, aside from lamenting ChiChi being brushed aside as rapidly as she showed up. What's done is done, hell, I think the manga is older than I am. But in a new adaption of the series... honestly, if they make Bulma less of a whiny useless bitch and more of an action girl, that's a freaking improvement.
Well, in the larger sense of Dragon Ball, particularly the parts in which Mai would have been a main opponent, that doesn’t apply. But granted that this is (some derivative of) the Piccolo Saga, that just goes to show that the assessment of her demeanor being intentionally “silly,” is well, silly.I'm not sure which King Piccolo Saga you were watching, but I don't recall a lot of ROFL-worthy moments.

Well, on the Dragonballmovieforum.com, Craig, explains why he believes, these trailers/teasers are not the one we will see with Max Paine, or at least not exactly like these ones.
this is his entire explanation.
Again, thanks to Craig, on the dragon ball movie forum.
Here's the link, if you want to send a message to him, or something

this is his entire explanation.
What he says makes a lot of sense to me. Don't know if this is true or not, but it seems a logical assumption. Well we will see on October 17."Teaser Trailer" Theory and Why we are going to see a different trailer/teaser on October 17th during the Max Payne screening.
I have a theory about the "teaser trailers" we saw. If some of you remember, back in June 25th we got our first reports about footage being shown at the Cinema Expo 2008 in Amsterdam. Heres the first report from Screen Daily:
Quote:
"Delegates were also shown footage/trailers/teasers for thriller Mirrors (starring Kiefer Sutherland), French box-office hit Taken (starring Liam Neeson), Mark Wahlberg’s new film Max Payne, The X-Files: I Want To Believe, Dragonball, romantic comedy Bride Wars (starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway), Night At The Museum 2, and unseen footage of Tom Cruise Second World War drama Valkyrie."
Soon after we received an update of the footage that was shown at the Expo:
Quote:
It’s definitely true that they’ve shown a teaser of Dragonball, but it’s just a couple of short scenes. Because of the enormous amounts of trailers, teasers, clips and films shown at the Expo, I can’t remember exactly what I saw, but I remember that it was cool!”
Does the description sound familiar? We know that Immediate Music finished their score in May and the Expo took place during June 24th-June 25th.
and now just recently at the Brand Licensing Europe 2008 they show some Dragonball footage also.
When Adam from Dbthemovie received these trailers from an anonymous source they were in a .VOB format meaning they were originally in a DVD (Meaning staff members at the expo just threw in the DVD and left the video files in their desktop/laptop and released it). So let me get to the point before you lose interest in reading this. The footage we saw was meant for the Expos . That would explain why we have two teasers/trailers (One for each Expo) and that would also explain the "cheesy" character cut outs thats in one of the trailers, they were for an Expo crowd to let them know who the characters are. (Also notice how the most special effects seemed a bit unfinished/not polished, this was five months ago which would explain the lack of scenes that involve a lot of special effect usage.)
I have another bit of news that further supports my claim that we are going to get a complete different trailer on October 17th.
From IGN on August 26th:
Quote:
"The first teaser trailer for the live-action feature film version of Dragonball will reportedly hit theaters in October. A studio source informed IGN that, while Oct. 17 is Fox’s “target date,” nothing is guaranteed until the special effects and requisite approvals are in place."
They specifically mention that they are working on the special effects for this trailer (a different one) thats attached to Max Payne . So expect a far more coherent trailer with a better arrangement of scenes within the trailer and better special effects (Or I should say scenes that weren't included in the previous trailer because they weren't finished with VFX/SFX). Again this is speculation based around factual information/news that we've received.
Again, thanks to Craig, on the dragon ball movie forum.

Here, use this. It helps with the comedy.JAPPO wrote:Here's your faithful adaptation.
No, no, no, no, no!!!!!
This movie is going to bomb. Curse Hollywood for not letting Asian filmakers make a live action Dragonball the way it's meant to be made. I can't believe Chow Yun-Fat skipped out on John Woo's Red Cliff films (which was actually pretty good, by the way) for this piece of shit!

That's not exactly how she looked in the manga! That movie wasn't so faithful, either, you know.MisterFlashdude wrote:I really think that clip works against you in this instance, really throwing into contrast the shift in tone and approach to Dragonball.Onikage725 wrote: Also, Bulma + gun complainers.

She busts Goku in the face about a minute in. When she was in Dragon Ball hunt mode, she roamed the land, by herself at first, and she carried a side arm for protection. She also didn't hesitate to draw it out and fire. So her looking kind of tough and having a gun isn't some crazy departure. It's just a slightly more "action-movie" themed take on what Toriyama set for the character.
Also, note that she's freaking out the entire time she's holding her little pea-shooter and drops it immediately afterwards.
.
I still don't care for Agent Bulma

Badass Agent Bulma.

I hate to say the same thing AGAIN, but please reserve comments like this until you have, you know, seen the movie. Comments like that are fine if they are your honest opinion based on actually seeing the movie, and even then they are immature.tinlunlau wrote:No, no, no, no, no!!!!!

I liked Spiderman3, even though it wasn't all that great. But I knew tons of people who were like "man that movie fucking sucked" but when I asked them why they felt that way they had no explanation. Even I, who liked the movie, could point out more flaws then they could.
