Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I acknowledged his point and then chastised him for thinking his is the only opinion that matters.JAPPO wrote:Uh, no? Though I'd give his opinion more credence and respect if he didn't sound like a barking dog.

Sounds like something else I've seen.....Captain Awesome wrote:It's a well established fact now that people here who dislike the live action movie are just bitching because they have nothing better to do. It doesn't matter how many well thought out posts are made that show their reasonings for their dislike, the pro movie crowd and their flawless argument of "You're all just a bunch of negative nancies!" will always be correct.JulieYBM wrote: Are you implying our opinions mean less because we are generally negative towards the heavy changes made to the characters and world?

If you can't stay entirely faithful to the original material, you have to come up with an original story! There's just no other way! Did Peter Jackson keep the "One Ring" plot? I don't think so!JAPPO wrote:His opinions are about as valid as anyone's here.
Same thing for the Dragon Ball Z movies, by the way! They simply couldn't adapt the TV series faithfully (just think about it... that's what I did the other night, and I realized that there was no way in hell! because the movies would be way too long!), and that's why they had to come up with new stories. And who ever criticized these original stories? Nobody, that's who!
And yeah, they had to put Gokû in highschool, or there would have been no way for him to meet Chichi!
... Which is why they also put Bulma and Yamcha in the same highschool, by the way!
They didn't? Well, I guess Gokû never gets to meet them, then.
He does?
...
But... But... Surely Stormsink's mighty logic couldn't be flawed?!
Yeah, that's valid.

"I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS HARD LAST NIGHT!!!"
...I'm not sure that's possible, sir.
"HOW WOULD HE MEET CHICHI IF HE WASN'T IN SCHOOL?!"
...
You can't meet people outside of school if you don't need to get rid of eternal flames atop a mountain?
And "Adaption" isn't a word, "Adaptation" is.
Forget is one word. Not two.
Yelling makes a person obnoxious, not accurate. I'll respect a person's opinion when they express it in a calm and logical way. Even if I agree with someone, I won't respect their opinion if they're screaming it, and tell others to "shut the fuck up" for having an alternate viewpoint.

Just listened to this. Good discussion, but I had to turn the volume way up and that only amplified all of the microphone problems. It honestly gave me a headache. I think for future podcasts, you need to make sure everybody has their mic set to the right level, doesn’t fumble with it, doesn’t move away from it, and is speaking clearly. One of you in particular sounded like they were whispering. And another must’ve been moving back and forth or something because their voice kept getting softer and louder. By the end of the podcast I seriously wanted to turn it off because of all the rustling (eardrum assault) and I’m sure a casual listener probably would have at that point. For these reasons I probably would not put it on the front page of your site. Get something that sounds clean, because if it doesn’t it will just drive people away.JAPPO wrote:Hey, I know some of you think I like everything about this movie, but if you want to know my true opinion we made a lil podcast. We are amateurs at podcasts obviously, but who cares, we know what we like and what we don't. http://dragonballmovieforum.com/showthread.php?t=898
The last thing I would recommend is to get someone in there who has a difference of opinion—maybe someone who isn’t liking the movie as much as much as the other(s). That way you can have a back and forth and challenge each other, and we’ll get to hear both sides.

1. Its not a faithful adatation which severely limis the odds of it being good.Forgotten Hero wrote:I don't think EX would be too happy to read this.![]()
Do what you want, but what if the movie is actually good? Like to the point where people are saying "By all means drop the $20 on the dvd."
2. If it were going by its original title of High School Musical 4: Bloodsport 7. It still looks like shit.
3. If this thing is genuinely good I will felate the forum member of your choice.
Every rumor about this movie has proven true so far. Somehow I doubt the finished movie is going to end up being this great movie. Or even a not awful one.

I've been doing work for the Hong Kong film industry for a few years now. I know my movies well. But it goes to show that to have a film adaptation deviate so much from its source material is pretty much offending to loyal fans of the franchise. Chow Yun-Fat is not fit for the role. He's too "handsome" to portray Kame-sennin. (Although I do admit that lewd and perverted characters is nothing new to Chow Yun-Fat. Refer to his older films with Wong Jing on that one.) In fact, he has even openly stated that he has never read or seen any of the Dragonball series at all. I can't exactly show you the source of that statement but he has confirmed it to Hong Kong press.omegacwa wrote:I hate to say the same thing AGAIN, but please reserve comments like this until you have, you know, seen the movie. Comments like that are fine if they are your honest opinion based on actually seeing the movie, and even then they are immature.tinlunlau wrote:No, no, no, no, no!!!!!
This movie is going to bomb. Curse Hollywood for not letting Asian filmakers make a live action Dragonball the way it's meant to be made. I can't believe Chow Yun-Fat skipped out on John Woo's Red Cliff films (which was actually pretty good, by the way) for this piece of shit!
I liked Spiderman3, even though it wasn't all that great. But I knew tons of people who were like "man that movie fucking sucked" but when I asked them why they felt that way they had no explanation. Even I, who liked the movie, could point out more flaws then they could.
As much as John Woo's Red Cliff was enjoyable, even that film had some inconsistencies with the real history of the 3 kingdoms era battle. But at least, John Woo had spent the time to do his research and keep many aspects as faithful as possible. But this Dragonball film? Doesn't seem like they bothered to do the research at all. I am not impressed and my opinions shall remain the same. Chow Yun-Fat shoulda done Red Cliff instead of stooping low enough for this B flick.
The world is your's.
